  • Garland. Knocking you all down since 1987.

  • @ClydeShadow6 I'm glad that in the Gameboy Advance remake, they kept the "Shall knock you all down" line.

  • square created some dang right amazing songs for there games

  • I used to wander the Chaos Temple fighting Gas Dragons until i took an arrow to the knee.

  • I remember those good old days when I played Final Fantasy 1 for the first time, so many good memories :)

  • I feel like I'm in my own world when I hear this song :')

  • I once Knock you all down myself, till four warriors came along

  • @Through011

I, some random internet user, shall knock you all down.

  • I really gotta stop getting on Youtube and listening to this music. I always end up feeling nostalgic and then sad afterward.

  • I always found it ironic that a theme dedicated to Chaos could be so wonderfully soothing and peaceful.

Man, do I love the older Final Fantasies. I feel that the simplicity of their stories and overall presentation made the games so much more timeless than the modern ones.

Square... please work with Sakaguchi and Uematsu for one more game... Its all I could wish for.

  • @IronWyvern yeah probably not gonna happen. Squareenix imo is really just going mainstream now and it's not gonna get any better...

I haven't played any new final fantasys after 11, excluding Dissidia, which is actually good.

  • @IronWyvern i think it's not that peaceful, but exciting, i know it's the final challenge, it has a weird vibe into it, like adventuring in outer space or something, but somehow, it's a bit notorious how this theme symbolizes something epic, usually waiting for you at the climax of the game

  • Final Fantasy is one greatest things that has ever happend to mankind

  • @Sycoraptor that's not how you spell toilet paper

  • @satsugekibukouken I'm sorry but I don't know what you're saying. What are you refering to? And what does spelling toilet paper correctly has anything to do with Final Fnatasy?

  • Am I the only one who when they enter the temple waits and listens to the song a bit before fighting garland?

  • @jlhf6042 Nope. Definitely one of the best songs in the game.

  • @jlhf6042 dont worry your not the only one... :3

    thats what i exactly did

  • @jlhf6042 hell no you're not!!! =)

  • FUCK YEAH FINAL FANTASY

  • I just beat Chaos not 5 minutes ago xD

  • Comment removed

  • WHY IS THE UNDERWATER TEMPLE AND CHAOS TEMPLE THEMES SWITCHED!?

  • @qwertyb18 yeah :/

  • straight 24 hours of leveling up on a sunday ( no school) meaning no sleep, no shower just chillin eating bags of chips in an air conditioned room with my pajamas on all day, those were the days.

  • i prefer this version than the one on Dissidia 012

  • @i4c4eva This version is WAY better than the one on Dissidia 012...

  • @kamikazehedgehog i know i wonder y they didnt put this version into 12 instead of remixing it

  • @i4c4eva I think Dissidia 012 is ruining some themes with those remixes >_<"

  • @kamikazehedgehog a few yes :) a few like say FF1 battle, FFXII Esper Battle and a few others really worked

  • Who will join me in offering up an acceptable offering to the god of discord?

  • This is where the root of all evil was birthed. Chaos Shrine is the seed.

  • Who knew a theme could be so serene and militant at the same time :D

  • Make that 331

  • I still can't believe this was remade into and EPIC dissidia version, they sound the same but the mood is different

  • Konker370 screw you

  • 2 people got knocked down by Garland.

  • also link is dead.

  • The original heroes of time.

  • its like holy music. never liked Ff XII and the newer ones. this has more of old mystic adventure style. not run around in a city with armor poeple

  • @smokingmcbongwater

    9 was good, too.

  • @Konker370 Troll Appeared!

    Fight<---

    Skill

    Item

    Run

    Warrior attacked!

    Dealt 30 HP to Troll!

Lol you mad? *victory theme plays*

  • @supershadow125 now i have to find that guys comment hahahaha

  • @Konker370 . die. jk

  • @Konker370

    Fight

    Magic<----

    Item

    Run

    Firaga!

  • @Konker370 "you know something? YOU SUCK!"

    -Billy Madison

  • This almost brings a tear to my eyes. And I've never even played a Final Fantasy game...

  • What I hated about the Playstation remake:

    1. No special or added monsters and dungeons like the later GBA version.

    2. Easy mode allows for too much magic (magic except for fast is weak vs. bosses anyway)

    3. changed too many names.

    4. Submarine became a wood submarine, I liked how the 8-bit allowed me to imagine a nuclear sub.

    5. Futuristic sky castle in space turns into regular castle in the sky.

  • Gaaarrrrlaaannnddd....

  • That´s the Water temple theme

  • @Mr0mart no thats chaos temple theme

  • @swaikis I think its the same :S , Square had a problem naming the themes in the Aniversary edition

  • so sad and epic theme

  • This isn't Chaos Temple, this is Chaos Shrine/Ocean Shrine.

  • @TheRealBowser What version did you play?

  • you should hear the dissidia 012 arrangement the drums is freakin incredible. this is my pump up song

  • fukin awesome

  • Fucking beautiful. Nobuo Uematsu is far and away the best video game composer ever.

  • -Beleifs-

    Call Of Duty = COD

    Final Fantasy = FF

    -Truths-

    COD = Crap On Disc

    FF= Fucking Fantastic

  • Final Fantasy = best music, best stories

  • SO. BEAUTIFUL. ;3;

  • is this a self-made remix of the NES-version or is this from a real remake of the first game??

  • @RODZZZART

its the music thats in FF origins and FF1 and 2 dawn of souls, so its an official version

  • @Seirra259 Ok thanks! :)

  • sephiroth scared two kids to dislike this

  • 0:27 onwards

Dream of a happier place in a distant time.......

at least, that what comes to my mind when i listen to that part.

  • @Seirra259 BTW me too! this soundtrack is amazing! its so..... calmly. Dream of a happier place in a distant time!! :D

  • @Seirra259

And maybe, just maybe, you can hear the happiness float through the walls of time.

  • @Seirra259 Like the Four Warriors of Light did, cause in that Scene in the Restored Chaos Temple which played 2000 Years ago they certainly dreamed of returning home to "their" future to a world where Garland / Chaos wouldn't exist anymore and peace is restored.

When I played it the first time I still remember how oppressive the feeling was, not to know if they ever again will see their own timeline again.

Nothing serves this purpose better as this music, especially the part you mentioned

  • I, Garland, Will knock you all down!

  • @ImosskShadow Garland - Knocking down noobs since 1987.

  • Man they should remake this into the DS games like 3 and 4 were, and have some character developement and stuff, but this game was great nontheless.

  • Oh the irony of what this calming song sparks in the comments.

  • You don't have to give up graphics for story or music. Metal Gear Solid? SOTC?

  • If you people like bottom end graphics but top of the line gameplay check out minecraft.

  • To continue, I don't care if you think "bad guy, good guys, evil empire" is original.

It's just plain wrong to write of all the amazing games of today (Bioshock, Red Dead, Mass Effect, Portal, Half Life) simply because YOU believe that older is better.

It's an opinion as to what is "better" and you know what? What's wrong with like Call Of Duty over FF?

Who are you to say that "this is better" when it's all just a matter of opinion?

you may like older games, but you do need to grow up.

  • @Crusina No it's not a matter of opinion. Its a matter of fact. If you're gonna sit there for a second and tell me these new Final Fantasy titles (13 and 14) are better than the the older ones, you are crazy. You say you come here to listen to amazing music, well no one made you read the comments. And I totally agree: Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, Portal, Halflife, and Call of Duty are all great titles. But when compared to back then, there's no comparison.

  • @thewierdoman

A fact is un-debatable, since we are debating, it's clearly a matter of opinion as to what is better.

I mean, how can you seriously say that its a "fact" that better was back then? Last time I checked, everyone had their own opinion.

I'm not crazy, I'm not stupid, I'm not wrong, its simply my opinion. I like most of the old FF, and I like most of the new FF.

All I'm saying, is for you, and others to respect other people's opinions regardless of what you believe.

  • @Crusina Comparing two different generations is irrelevant enough, but comparing two entirely different genres of games makes whatever argument this is, invalid. It's like comparing Tetris Attack to Halo, what point is there to make regardless of opinion, it's pointless.

  • @OmegaZero77

You're right, thats not really why I'm arguing though.

I simply just don't like it when people call other people stupid, or wrong, or whatever just because they don't hold the same view. Is it so wrong to ask people to respect other people's opinions?

I completely understand where you guys are coming from, and I respect your guy's opinions, so don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to start a fight or anything...though it probably seems like it.

  • in my opinion this soundtrack is one of the best...if not even the best soundtrack in the whole series of final fantasy...

  • Graphics are graphics,no matter how good they are...it is still not real.Retro-Games have "bad" graphics, but they got their own, individual style..and i love the graphics, even if they are lowpixels. Most new Games are boring me to death...

  • Guys, you're all talking about how old games are better than th enew ones and all that, but you gotta realize; the ratio of shit games to good, solid games hasn't really changed much. For every good game there's two or three broken ones (though they might still be mildly enjoyable), all that's changed is that both are a lot prettier now.

So stop complaining, remember both the good and bad games, and most importantly: just enjoy the bloody music.

  • Final Fantasy I...

    What memories.

  • Yopu guys are all talking about games that have a story line and shit and how they are rare. I have a great VERY sad game for you to play it's called Nier. It's one of the saddest videogames i have ever played the story line is amazing, its so beautiful and the music for it is just beautiful.

  • dohoho someone didn't catch the error in the OST, though this is labeled as Chaos Shrine it's actually the enderwater castle BGM

  • Comment removed

  • @shadowgilgamesh It is played in the Chaos shrine too, I have played this game so often just to hear this song again

  • chaos killed 2 people..........

  • this is one of the best songs in the whole game (actually I believe the whole series as well, except the opening for 13 was pretty good)

  • Just play this song with an ocarina : *-*

  • I think FFI has the best music of all the FF's

  • oh..oh..crap..falling..asleep..so..calming

  • When I hear this, I'm really ashamed of myself. I never played Final Fantasy before, it looks awesome!

  • Fuck graphics. To me it's all about the music. The game play And the story. Even if the latter isn't to good. I loved Final fantasies music and game play!

  • @DragonZeara Long as there's good music in the background and a decent storyline going, I can tolerate less emphasis on graphics. The opposite is unacceptable for me.

  • @DragonZeara

    u are wrong.

humans are visual creatures so detailed graphics can transmit much more emotions than a bunch of pixels.

    learn 2 appreciate good graphics.

  • @inscaraburire I can learn to appreciate good graphics, what I can't Appreciate is when it's the only thing I'm aloud to enjoy in a game. I keep seeing to many games today that have amazing graphics but everything else lacks.

And actually you're wrong, Humans Can hear too yaknow? We are not just based on what we can see. You don't have to get emotion by just seeing good graphics, some people can get just as much if not more from just listening to a tune. >.>

  • @DragonZeara Me too man! I agree 100%. Today, things are too focused on graphics.

  • @thewierdoman Don't get me wrong, a few games today have really awesome music and some, story. They are not even close to as memorable as these, In my opinion of course.

  • @DragonZeara I agree man. Some games today have really captured me (such as Windwaker and Metal Gear Solid 4). But I think as a whole, the overall quality was so much better back then.

  • @thewierdoman The Darkness had amazing music and really awesome gameplay as well as some awesome graphics, a lot of games should take by its example. That's why I'm looking forward to bullet storm.

  • @DragonZeara sounds like you would like radiant historia

  • @GamingTranceSeer wow, looks pretty awesome!

  • @DragonZeara I don't recall turning away from games because of the graphics. I'll still play old games to this day. But one thing that makes those old games so fun to play is the soundtrack. That's not something that can age.

  • @OgnarPliskin Never have and never will. Graphics don't make a difference to me, I look for good gameplay most of all. Music actually helps me through a battle a lot more then anything else to be honest.

  • @DragonZeara I disagree with the first and agree with the latter two. When Square was able to push the SNES to its limits, it made one of the most beautifully styled Sprite and Mode7 games ever, at the top of their game before the sudden format crash on playstation. But sadly, it looks like all the talent from final fantasy left. this is why I declare the series over after FF6 and put everything else into "Final Fantasy Gaiden" which wasnt a thing til recently.

  • @DragonZeara you should play bittrip runner its pretty good

  • Wait, no, this song is not played during the final dungeon. At least not in Dawn of Souls. That'd be the Chaos Shrine theme.

  • An ancient temple from an age long forgoten. No one remains who knows who built it or for what purpose. Abandoned except for the wild beasts and monsters that call it home, no one even dares approach it to find out. And soon, it will be the setting for the battle that will decide the fate of this world...

  • @themettking a battle I think...like what 2000 years in the making?

  • @Clouddark23 Wouldn't it be negative 2000 years? The first battle in the storyline takes place 2000 years AFTER the last battle...however that makes sence in a sentence.

  • one of the best old school ff songs

  • In II, the Crystals are located in the Mysidian Tower. VIII had the crystal pillar.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually all Final fantasies beyond 6 had recycled storylines.

  • @Cmppayne26542 Actually no. None of them have. They're pretty unique. And by the way, VI is NOT superior to VII. Also, vice versa. Quit trying to shove your opinion down other peoples' throats.

  • @zackfair73195 I never said 6 was better than 7 or vice versa I said, all final fantasies beyond 6 had "OMG THE CRYSTALS" storyline.

How can you say a game cannot be better than others? X is better than 7 by far. The only reason why it doesn't beat it on the ratings charts is because it had 72 reviews, not 11... so ff7 is more biased. Also, 9 sells the most, and do you think thats the best one?

  • @Cmppayne26542 Games can never be better, you might like one more than the other, but that's just your opinion. And ALL Final Fantasy games have had crystals in them.

  • @zackfair73195 Final Fantasy II didn't.

  • @zackfair73195 FF II , FF VII and VIII didnt have crystals?

  • @tristram599 Yeah they did. They weren't the main point, but like in FFVII there was materia. They were still crystals. And I haven't really played 2, and VIII I can't remember. But there are Crystals in EVERY Final Fantasy game.

  • @Cmppayne26542 I thought 9 sold badly, yet had the highest metacritic average? and you're just talking personal opinion. it's my personal opinion that 10 is flawed because post-game is full of lazily designed tedious tasks and the most monotonous level grind in any final fantasy I've played. I also dislike Tidus. but I appreciate its strengths and that it's a beloved game in the series. but it's certainly not better than 7 'by far'.

  • this melody is so awesome !

  • nice sad music

  • I honestly prefer the GBA version of this song.

  • best song ever in final fantasy saga

  • Videogames back then= The music, the gameplay, the story, all you will remember till the day you die. Games now= Forgettable music, nonsense stories, too focused on graphics.

  • @thewierdoman and too focused on filming, Aargh.

  • @thewierdoman Not all games, there still being made some good once

  • @thewierdoman You haven't played many recent video games then, have you?

  • @thewierdoman

Sadly true for most game series these days. I mean, does one really need more grass or more brown and grey to make a game better?

  • @thewierdoman what about games like mass effect with absolutely AMAZING music and engaging characters. And metal gear solid. These games are still unbelievable, with some of the best music i've ever heard. Look up "suicide Mission" from the mass effect soundtracks. It's perfect.

  • @thewierdoman

    realistic graphics > lolpixels.

today's games have good music, good story AND good graphics. better have all of them than just story and music.

  • @inscaraburire Dude believe what you want, but if you're gonna sit there and say todays stories are better than back then, you're nuts. Lets compare then: FFVI and FFXIII. FFVI was perfect. Period. FFXIII... sure, it looked real, but the story took a rocket scientist to figure out and wasn't fun at all. The same goes with other titles as well, such as The Legend of Zelda. At one time, Final Fantasy was the bomb, now it's a has been franchise.

  • @thewierdoman That is so fucking true :( and i hate it... This game was the only game that really was a great adventure for me.. mostly cos of the RPG play, story and mostly Music...

But what do i know.. havent played that many adventure games tho..

  • @thewierdoman sadly enough I have to agree with you. I wish games could become what they used to be but that is just a pipe dream any more.

  • @thewierdoman

    You are a fuckin dumbass.

Seriously, I came here to listen to amazing music, not to a bunch of nostaligic idiots talking shit about other people's hard work or opinions.

Games liike FFI and FFVI are absolutely amazing. VI is my favorite, and if you like older games better that is perfectly fine.

But insulting many amazing games of today, and the people who like those games makes you out to be an utter asshole.

Your opinion is not worth more then theirs.

  • @thewierdoman Nintendo don't focus on the graphics too much, now. They still know that they're doing, if you ask me.

  • @thewierdoman weird, because Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Oblivion and Dead Space are pretty recent. Not saying that I didn´t love FF1, you just have to admit that the game, as wonderful as it was, didn´t have such a complex plot. And practically no character development, or character personality for that matter. The music was amazing though.

  • @HunterLovell I totally agree with you a hundred percent. I'm just saying, as a whole (IN MY OPINION!!!!) Games of the NES/SNES days were overall better than that of todays games.

  • @thewierdoman

    And that's fine!

I respect that fact! And I completely understand where you are coming from, but like I said before, if you have the right to think that the older games are better, then you should equally be able to respect others who believe that newer games are just as good, or better.

That's all, no hard feelings I hope between us right?

  • @Crusina I agree with you man. Opinions are opinions, after all lol. And nah man we're cool. I totally get were your coming from.

  • @thewierdoman

This was actually the first game I ever REALLY played, this dungeon, this music.

Sure I'd played like Mario before...but it was mindless fun.

FFI was the first game that I really thought had some major depth to it. Its what made me game really.

  • @Crusina Yeah man I know what you mean. For me, the first real game I got into was DK Country on the SNES. Then I wnet back on the NES and played some of the classics.

  • @thewierdoman

I have never, ever, ever, beaten that game.

I've beaten Ninja Gaiden, Contra, etc, but I've NEVER been able to beat that game.

    Dang mine cart levels XD

  • @thewierdoman You all nostalgia-glasses'd, hard. One was not as good as seven, ten or thirteen. I can say this having completed but seven and one part of thirteen.

  • @thewierdoman Final Fantasy VIII, X and XIII say hi.

  • @MANJYOMETHUNDER111 XIII? Lol dude that game was a joke.

  • @thewierdoman In your opinion.

  • @MANJYOMETHUNDER111 In mine and every other reviewer. Type it in on both metacritic and gamerankings and you'll see that, besides 14, FFXIII got the worst overall rating ever. So if it's ONLY my opinion, I guess everyone else agrees with it.

  • @thewierdoman This is quite a childish response, as I do not agree with you, therefore not 'everyone else' does. Mathematically speaking, there have to be people who agree with every side of an argument. Character development-wise, XIII was the best of the series. The complaints were the linearity and the battle system, things that final fantasy fans have complained about since seven. Most people who agree with you have never even played it, choosing to dislike it because of peer pressure.

  • @thewierdoman

I love old games that surpass my generation =D

Thats why I like them Remakes.

  • @thewierdoman I plan to make video games, and one of my hopes is to have all 3 are the first too more than anything! I'm not much for graphics though, although to be honest, graphics are important for roleplaying games! As they are based heavily on what you can see and all. Which is why they usually have high-quality, easy to see sprites in older games.

  • I, Garland, will knock you all down!

  • Just finished the Dawn of Souls edition, and I loved it!

I might be too young for the original, but this game really got me hooked!

  • This is like the perfect theme song for a story with an unhappy end.

Like the original little mermaid, for example. :s

  • >.< what about the other one??

  • j'aime cette musique et l'écouter me rappellr des souvenirs........

  • wow what a song!

  • ZOMG I love this song!!!

  • man nowadays i have tried gaming throught all those hightlighted games but only few i have liked(like mgs kh dmc)but then most of them are short or done whit one gameplay so that you dont have to play them anymore

but these old final fantasy games are long and i just keep on playing them they have awesome story line good music good gameplay and who cares about graphics???

only decent game i have bought in 2010 nowadays is dissidia(i recommend it)

  • sad music

  • Thx I really liked the music in FF1

  • @Kral995 me 2, it was my fav, i stopped walking just to hear it
