As great as the rival SNES was, the Genesis has always had far superior games, IMO.

Maybe it had to do with "blast processing"?

it,s the same as these days,nintendo is the gimmick and the rest is better,if nintendo didn't had sony to help with the snes they would have made it as standart as possible,and it wasn't for nintendo to push the snes to its limits,well was the system actually pushed to its limits without any extra chips in the cartridges,snes had more colours,but genesis had verything in screen going on and a sega cd that is superior to almost any 16 bit console due no other could scale and rotate like sega cd.

It means that you like to keep youself to yourself. The amiga incedentally was designed by the legendary Jay Miner & co and i'm eternally grateful to them. He died in 1994 , may he rest in peace!

The Amiga does have a great sound chip - amazing for a computer that came out over 20 years ago.

They still managed to get some great sounds out of it. Check out Ristar, Streets of Rage 2 or Gunstar Heroes!

This is by far the greatest game on the MD, not sure about it being too hard though, in my prime i could finish this game on 1 life, its all about about which level to start on 1st, they brought this game out on arcade and called it 'thunderforce ac' with some different levels but it just doesnt match up. This will always be my favourite horizontal shooter. the completion sequence is also great.

When this game came out in 1990 it was totally mindblowing

I was really obsessed with this game, I spent days learning how all the enemies and obstacles moved. Then I tried to play it through with one credit and destroying every possible enemy. While I made the conclusion that it is not possible to destroy everything, I was able to play it completely through without dying once. It was way over a decade ago, but I still remember the final score I had: 1027000

That score is before multipliers, there were some bonus multipliers based on difficulty level but I can't remember how exactly it worked. I haven't played this game ever since, but after watching this video, maybe I should. Just for the old times' sake... :)

Excellent and highly recommendable game with good graphics and gameplay and close-to-perfect soundtrack.

WOW..I am so glad I found this. I used to love this and Elemental Master on the genesis.A Actually for the Mega Drive. I had it a couple years ago and it was way harder than I remember. I'd rather ply Target Earth!

people really like this game it seems. thunder force ii isn't worth nearly as much on ebay as iii. i had a perfect copy of iii in recently that i got $20 for, so this game is still pretty sought after.

I remember this when ot first came out. I was so happy that i had a genesis. This and strider made me very happy.

This is one of the best games ever made, top 3 of all time on the Genesis. I have to disagree with you when you say it's hard, though. I'd have to jack the difficulty all the way up on this game to be even remotely challenged. If you want hard, try Radiant Silvergun.

No, unfortunately not in Europe. We have TF 2 and 4, which is lightening force in US. I was looking for this game at the time, the problem was to find a converter for a US or JAP version... i still remeber that... hehe, now it's so easy to find and play a game. Let's hope to see TF 6 someday
