I haven't read the novel yet, but I've watched the original French version of the musical. Too bad Disney deleted the role of Gringoire in the film, he is my favorite character apart from Quasimodo and Esmeralda!

Quite an interesting idea, using this song and these clips -not concentrating on the characters, but on the the cathedral instead- I like it, it´s quite unique.

The musical was set in 1999, but it's closer to the original story....
