here s 1 hack without cmd first click right mouse button then press Create Shortcut,then you will get 1 window write this in it shutdown -s -t 60 -c"write your message in it"and then press next and name it.t means time so instead you write 60 you can write 10 or any number and run it to test it 60 means countdown untill shutdown it s working belive me. cheers

I am looking and I am liking, I know a fair bit about computers but a newbie with Command Prompt. however been practising :)

My Problem is is that I cant change the password of a store bought laptop, I get Access Denied System Error 5. Using the exact command as Above and various others. Is it Blocked by a Default configuration file in the system or what that prevents me from changing the original account?

Might be if you didn't set up your account with admin rights the first time you booted up.

else you can add your current account to the admin group on your computer through cmd commands too - haven't tried it on Vista, but worked fine at my school ^^ (Windows XP)

if ur computer has vista on it... then when you go to open commad prompt right click it and go to run as administrator and allow the process then you can run command prompt with administrator privilidges even if you are not one and then you can make yourself administrator

you can use the cmd prompt to define what computer on the network you want to shut down just use an extra variable in the shutdown command.

shutdown -s -t defined time -c "coment if wanted" -m \\EXACT computer name (the -m tells cmd what computer to shut down, but it will show on the other computer what user is shutting it down :S sadly
