  • I want this thing.

  • this is 60's tech?

  • @blade65dagger it is

  • Dear Santa...

  • Dear Santa...

  • Wow.. I think imma stay with VSTi's ..

  • my god...

there is so much flexibility in this machine! whoever owned one of these in the sixties or seventies must've been god of the synthesizer!

  • Sounds pretty good but i think it's complicated to wire it up and change the sound with all the cables and lot of switches. i use my microKORG XL conected to my MacBook Pro on USB. The microKORG XL is much smaller and much easier to use. and i can create and record sounds and vocals directly to my MacBook Pro and use it in GarageBand or in Virtual DJ and put it in the mix. :)

  • @RealClipZZ But this sounds waaaay better :-)

  • Oh I have one of those.

  • Hey dude you have a moog synth on your table. You are so frikin awsome, I bet you get loads of babes with that huge monster of yours. I want to touch it, do you shower regularly?

  • Wait til you modulate the filter cutoff freq, with one of the (audio range) oscillators, it will add some real thickness to any sound.

  • i dont understand

  • Is this a DAW?

  • @vvalmiki1 NO

  • @vvalmiki1: of course it's a DAW, a Dynamic Analogue Waveform.

  • :16 - Abba Gimme Gimme Gimme!

  • LOVE those 60's "Space" sounds

  • THAT SOUNDS FUCKING HUGE

  • Freaking awesome. I am a current 50+ YO sound tech, old hippie, musician since mid-1960's, electronic freak, this vid made me almost wet my Depends LOL... Peace out. ~Kathy in KC~

  • @kybo61 I totally want one. Blue Oyster Cult eat my panties. LOL...

  • thumbs up if you saw the little keyboard in the background

  • I have to ask, where in the hell did you find a piece of equipment like that?

  • this sound like 3xosc lol

  • I think I want 1

  • Just like you would do it with a 3xOsc in FL Studio...

    (inb4 shitstrom)

  • how is called that ''thing'' laying near keyboard. i just love Emerson playing on it :D

  • @mikoq3a That is a Ribbon Controller... Also seen on Grooveboxes like Korg EMX...this one of course is analog and controls voltages but same principal.

  • It really hurts to see you pull and plug the patches so violently. It's obvious your daddy hasn't paid for it!

  • man, I'm a huge fan of buchla, but moog absolutely has better filters

  • does the awesome vintage synth use valves, tubes, for the oscillator o.O

  • This is like the soundstation to the universe.

  • Wow. I suddenly realized that Tangerine Dream is nothing but a ton of jacking around with this machine.

  • Aren't you the person who made the track 'The Annual New England Xylophone Symposium'?

  • HAHAHA HYPNOTOAD @ 1:06

  • @Ohbytheway5 Beat me to it.

  • The note he is tuning them to at the beginning, is D. This happens to be the model number of the legendary Minimoog (Model D).

    Great video!

  • May i please marry your synth?

  • @MrMoobags

That shows been going downhill since season 3! XD

(fry quote, not putting down Futurama lol)

  • 1:06 - man i love moog synthe... ALL HAIL THE HYPNOTOAD

  • that's awesome :)

  • This video should be under the Webster Dictionary definition of "fat"

  • If I met an alien and I needed to show them what the word "fat" meant I would play them this video.

  • Slick, but will it blend?

  • @zoomer122 NOOOOOOOO

  • Id pay tuition to go to a college with a moog modular!

  • kind of noise I get in my head when I arc myself...not something I do regularly. Great sound though

  • Dude, you remind me of quentin tarantino. Alraaaaight.

  • DEOX-IT!!! NOWWW!!E*(@QY&R*(#QY&8wfe

  • oh god, this is creepy!!!

  • Be careful pluggin those plugs... You can accidentally enter the Matrix with that... thing.

  • @gtruba HAHAHA!

  • NOW.... THATS A RELIC!!!!! CHEERS BRO.

  • does it have specific inner balls? really? 00.14

  • this sounds beautiful , thanks.

  • now can you play dubstep on it?

  • i think you get lost in those knobs you need to have extreme skills to do this...

  • o_o Why is it this guy doesn't seem to EXPLAIN how he "Thickens" the sound. you need some lessons. Because I can make more sound come out of my Microkorg than your ability to explain how this thing is working. I mean don't get me wrong. Moog is the top of the line. But I am sad to say that you've been showing us NOTHING. You don't explain anything while you are inputting outputting. I mean if I wanted to know how to use one of these. This isn't the video I would watch.

  • @AxleBombshell ...good point

  • Damn. These are the kinds of systems I can only dream of. Guess I have to stick to plugins...*sadface*

  • damn this looks more like a telephone operator!!! btw never saw a synth as this...

  • @fran316parada

I agree and I like that sound, very dirty and gritty! super GRIMEY!

  • What you call EQ is in fact the MOOG Fixed Filter Bank

  • the jordan rudess grandfather's keyboard

  • ORGASM!

  • 1:06 the HypnoToad of futurama lol @_@

  • @fran316parada Haha I was going to say the same thing!

  • @fran316parada i fucking laughed

  • mabe ill just save for the minimoog...

  • WTF?!?! i've never seen an such huge synth...

I think you have to be a genius when you know, what you exactly have to do, when you want to play this fat sounds

Me as a bass player...,i would be puzzled when i have to operater this filters and kabels

I don't know why but, now i want to make eperiments with this moog

  • god DAMN

  • you sound like a teacher.

  • OH MY GOD. I barely have room for a Microkorg :/

  • Comment removed

  • i have one of those.

  • Apparently Keith Emerson had a tech managing the synth during ELP performances.

  • @m7lists Keith Emerson managed his own synth. One year in St. Louis, he was still programming his Moog as the crowd was coming in. He explained to everyone exactly what he was doing, and made his changes between songs.

  • Take it easy on that thing its vintage!!

  • Wow. Must cost alot. I saw a minimoog in a catalog for like 3400 bucks.

  • and then you do... bum! bash! bing! click! twist! shhhht! ring! ...here you have it! :D

how do you guys remember what all thos knob are for?

  • al this for me? thaaaaanksssss

  • this motherfucker is Huge, i mean it is as big as chorch organs, what the hell

  • I would love to (and perhaps one day will) own a moog synth, however I have neither the space nor the money for one right now. Could you or anyone else suggest a synth module that I could add to my midi keyboard that would allow me to play around with these big sounds? I'm not interested in dance music, quite like the whole P-funk Bernie Warrel bass synth etc. but am open minded. Many thanks.

  • I would just play it in night, passing away in sonic extasy, having visions of glowing ribbons in space.

  • its such a shame he cant get a nice tone out of it..................... pleeeaaaasseeeeeee let me have just 20 mins on this thing and il be the happiest man alive.

  • So you can hot swap the CV cables? Doesn't it do damage to the circuits?

  • uhhhh, that sounded like shit.

  • NERD!

  • @TwinVulcan lmao

  • Hmmm. Doesn't quite sound right. You need to send your Moog to me for repair. I would probably need it for oh, say maybe a year.

  • @FlametopFred

Stop lying to yourself... Make it 3 years.

It is a large synthesizer you know... :)

  • @DjMaXXimal - - -true. I forgot unpacking time, tuning and testing time. 3 years. But I would waive all fees.

  • @FlametopFred You sir.... win my Snyht collection.... the internet is not enough for you

  • imagine that you have to make all album on this synth, for example 20 songs in one cd, and for each song you have to change the settings of this synth-monster, sick but Kawai SX-240 sounds much better

  • @messi348 how dare you insult moog's reputation by bringing to the conversation a japanese instrument. moog is the synth master! yamaha is great also. but different.

  • All of that just for a dual ocs detune? Take it farther or go home.

  • @TheSongsparrow I agree!

  • Comment removed

  • I want,,,,,

  • damn , my old frig makes same sounds for a 100 dollars hehehehheh

  • Anybody interested in some new Commodore samples?

Click my name to view COMMODORE 64 SAMPLES PACK: SFX SOUND EXPANDER IN 'C'. If you click the link below it you are also taken to a special selection of SID sounds and effects taken from famous games and applications.

  • that is in really nice condition! You are a lucky guy

  • that BITCH IS BIG LOLDAMMMM

  • Sounds horrible...

  • @tis2nwod I agree this patch sounded a little horrible for my taste.

  • nice youtube

  • This is a heavily modified Moog. That whole bottom rack looks to be a much more sophisticated mixer than standard. Also, the EQs look like later, custom units.

  • @postingoldtapes No!!! it's a pre moog 55 unit,i think it was called the IIIc system. this was the system before the moog modulars 15,35 and 55 systems.

  • Dub It Dread

  • You can also try to fatten up a sound by driving it through McDonalds on a high frequency.

  • @MrSidMan best comment all week.

  • @MrSidMan hahahahahaha :D

  • haha look this guy hahah he looks like Doc Roger Bannon of Jonny Quest

  • Such an amazing sounding synth. Very nice video thanks!

This synth was used on the film score Assault on Precinct 13 (1976).....BASS. It was also multitracked using 9 oscilators for the classic synth string sounds.

  • nice, but,

    its modular not a synthesizer

for those who dont know what is the difference:

a modular is a tool to program the sound from 0 while a synthesizer has pre-made sound waves that are used to design any type of sound , so why to use a modular? because it allows to program the sound in allot more efficient way to make sounds like a human voice, an instrument or anything else to sounds more realistic and rich.

  • @djomercohen you are totaly off. synthetizer is machine that creates artificial sounds. This moog of course uses basic soundwaves square, sine...).Where do you think would the sound come from? You are basicaly shifting basic waves in every synth.

By modular i think you are talking about modular design of synths.meaning that you have various eqs, efects,LFOs for manipulating basic wavesAnd you choose specificaly wich you want to be instaled in your synth.usualy they are not directly wired together

  • @djomercohen learn english - modular is an adjective from the noun module, it describes something - you can not have a modular because it's illogical grammatically

  • @djomercohen Its a modular synthesizer actually. it uses interchangeable synthesis modules to affect the spectral content of basic audible waveforms.

  • that is one bad-ass machine, nice demo and good info....wish i had one

  • You don't need to stack a bunch of oscillators to get fat sounds out of this.

A single Moog 902+subosc will eat other multi-osc systems for an appetizer every time.

try PWmod on the upper osc and it's sound-gasm time!

  • That looks so fun to mess around with.... i would kill for some time in that room

  • holy shit this looks like a shitload of confusion

  • I love Ruth Buzy.. Connect a cord, and make a call..

  • microkorg and the pc-editor kicks this wallcabinet's butt. :-)

    nice nostalgic video.

  • Jeez, I can see why creating the original "Switched on Bach" was such a nightmare.

  • It's great to own one of this, a definite studio welcome addition.

however, it might be a little impractical and quite a burden if you were to bring it on gigs.

  • @foxtweeg emerson lake and palmer knew how to tour with a similar big moog deck, grand piano, multiple mini-moogs and the yamaha GX1 oh, not to mention carls drum kit!

  • There are DIY build kits for synths like this, but to get all the parts is like nearly a million dollars!!! I really want one of these!!! Or at LEAST a few basic controls that I could hook in to old talking toys & do stuff with!!! The older synths might be harder for some people to figure out,but the sounds are like nothing else out there!!! The digital stuff these days is great, but it 's just not the same as something like this!!!

  • what is that machine?

  • God I would love to bet let loose on something like that

  • HHHOOOLLLLYYY SHHHHIIIITTTTT

  • Look at the size of that thing! Its a big as a Buick! And you need a PHD in engineering to operate it

  • @Shackamaxon hahaha!!! not so exagerated like this, but believe me it's more easy and take less time than learn how to play a simply guitar or other instruments! :)... but I'm agree with u that it looks monstruous!!! :D

  • @Shackamaxon its not that hard to operate i am 13 i know how to use it

  • wicked sick !

  • are the oscillators on synths always in phase with with one another? I'm guessing yes, ignoring uncontrollable drift.

  • detuning is such a critical issue. perfect pitch correct, like you hear in a lot of pop music now, sounds artificial. when creating multiple voicings, the studio will purposefully detune the voices to make them sound 'thicker'. the brain associates the slight detuning with the idea of a multitude of people singing together, creating the impression of a large group singing & suggesting importance based on a majority. the same thing he demonstrates here. pipe organs and pianos use the same trick

  • christ they were big beasts in the day weren't they? :P

  • Sounds like a hair trimmer..

  • *chuckles

  • Wonderfull! @ 2:18 just like a 69' Mustang big block...

    :D

  • "Moag???"

  • It's really not a big deal to change the jacks...

  • be careful with those jacks asshole!!!! ure gonna ruin it!

  • big thing... how many dollars?

  • around $30,000

  • @mistermafia9 really? more than a good car, i cant believe...

  • There is no sound like that of analog synths. Even modern day synths try to recreate the awesome sound of the Moog.

  • That thing is a monster :O

  • I wonder if you could play any Bach on this? You would sound just like Walter Carlos!

  • @cartoonfan1920s Now Wendy, lol

  • @cartoonfan1920s It is actually Wendy Carlos. They first published the Name Walter Carlos Due to the label basically being sexist

  • @bangulo2012 ... or he got a sex change.

  • WOW its a nice Noise Generator for me... if your a kind of guy who is going to Sample Pure and Authentic Electric Tones this is the Perfect Synth to do the Job... it a nice thing that they Preserve a Synth like this...

  • This guy could do a sick John Malkovich impression..

  • hahaha

  • You pustulent turd.

  • AWESOME!!!! favourite!! 5 *****

  • ...............the first note is AMAZING!!!!

  • wow PHAT!! With the right sound system, one could conceivably commit suicide with that synth.... probably does 0-100K I bet

  • @supajc

Interesting. I'll try that and and will report back to you in five minutes.

    BRB...

  • 50,000 views!! NICE...

  • Dear Santa

Please send me one in the post for christmas : ) : P

  • Where i can find a synth like that? and what is da price of it today? i'm very interested by synth polyphonic =)

  • @SiliconBong ...Dear Bong, sadly all my reindeers cannot carry this massive, weighty and great thing! Wish a lighter sportscar instead! ...WANT THIS MOOG!!!

  • Easily fixed Santa. Just tie a few beer bottles full of

vinegar and baking soda, with some number '8'

    fencing wire to your sleigh.

. . .the kiwi version of RocketAssisstedTakeOff

    TrackordRecords :)

  • Bad sound!

  • heheheheh...Moog Rules!!! the Hofmman pioneer of music :D :X :E

  • When u see a synthesizer video,it tells you to launch your own album.Pink floyd used music in their songs a lot.they used best synthesizers of those days.

  • can this od drum sounds and can it sample?

  • so what major would you be taking to be involved with synth modules...electric engineering or a music major?

  • Well, both, engineering (with emphasis on analog circuitry) for working with the innards or music (with emphasis on electroacoustic music) to compose/play on them!

I studied both on college, actually.

  • What a beast

  • how come i see endless amounts of videos of these towering synths,, and yet, no one can seem to make actual music with it--- ? . im baffled by this. someone please, show me a video of a massive modular synth acctually used in a tune! . i think ill keel over.

  • These videos are ment to show the machine's potential in the shortest ammount of time possible. After tweaking and selecting your sounds, making the actual music takes alot of time.

You'll probably find a few videos of that if you search well.

  • The only artist I know who has a Moog Modular, uses it on every single track he does. Lots of people are using them. The vanishingly few people who have one of these synths, hardly need this level of instruction.
