Having worked for a bird rescue, I can tell you how many birds are MAULED by their "best friends". Dogs and cats have a genetic instinct that sometimes they cannot control, especially if woken up abruptly. If you love your budgie, please find him another hobby.

@kathyyates2 If it's an indoor cat since birth and/or it's sterilized, it won't kill the bird. They kill it for food, mostly too their kittens. If this cat get kittens, there's a big chance it will kill the bird, and bring it too it's kittens. Even if it is an indoor cat.
