  • I have her on my my mind and this song just made me start crying....

  • @bushpilot223 Be Careful how much or often you do listen to this song. I like you years ago was hurt bad and this song as great as it is can bring you down way to much (many others like this one too). I am sure you know this, but I don't want you go to the places I did and this song did not help to get out of the Dark Dark Days. I still do not listen to it much because it can put me in emotional state similar to you now. Sorry, if I offended you.

  • @ross121670 started listening. read your comment. stopped. You're dead on.

  • @Berethruu Yeah, years of wisdom (41 now) and been there done that, made me see the signs for I was there before in my Dark Days. Don't want you taking My Long Road like I did. But, a short Road to recovery from what happened.

  • Just a reminder to some of the crazy PJ fans (I love both bands, so I'm not dissing the band by any means), Aaron might've messed up lyrics a little but there's freakin' karaoke versions of this song that messed up the lyrics. Aaron's said before that all his covers come out of respect. He never wants to outdo anybody or be credited more for something that's by someone he respects (Eddie Vedder, for example). Some of you say it's a bad cover, but as long as it's not PJ you can't give it credit

  • Better than Pearl Jam! Wow

  • I think he SINGS the song beautifully but I don't FEEL anything when I listen to it. I think he is void of emotion and passion. This video was the single reason why I decided to do my own cover and put it up. I put my soul into it...people can check my version out if they feel like it.

  • @sircumfrins dude really, r u serious, u must be high, hes one of the most emotional singers EVER.....

  • @sircumfrins your version was plain as it comes

  • @smooth1133 That's fair enough. I respect that. I stick to what I said. Sung well but doesn't invest himself fully into it...and he doesn't need to. Oh ya, I completely agree that he is one of the most emotional singers. I am a big fan of Aaron and Staind. Later.

  • @sircumfrins no way bro i listened to yours and i gotta say this one's better. how can you say this has no feeling? level for the sake of it. this cover clearly owns

  • @KillerDiaguR Hey bro, I didn't say mine was better, just that I put more emotion into it...I mean I was pretty much in tears as I put myself into the song fully. Don't get me wrong, it is a great cover!!!

  • The growing murmur of the crowd as they realize what he is playing is beautiful.

  • One of the most moving perfomances by him in a long time and that is saying a lot . When he does covers and aquistic covers to boot just blow me away every single time. Gives me goosebumps bro no bullshit.

  • 132 dislikes = 132 idiots

  • i dont like pearl jam or covers , but this is good!

  • I miss when Aaron was just touring alone with his guitar, singing fantastic songs like this. Now it seems like his acoustic shows are just a place for him to promote his new country songs. I respect his need to go down a different path, but his covers of songs like this are what made me love his acoustic performances, and it just seems like he has no interest in doing them anymore.

  • Thank you Aaron, and poster! listened to this song all the way around the usa roughly 10 years ago on a tape I recorded on a radio I still have, played on my walkman I still own, on the greyhound/8 DAYS OF HELL AND MAC FUCKING DONALDS. after 2 days of riding with ppl you become family on the Hell Hound :o) After 8 days who gives a shite.

  • i miss this aaron lewis. fuck the country one. great voice but just dont enjoy it as much.

  • God bless you for sharing this. I swear to god I had goosebumps the entire time. A fantastic vocalist singing my all time favorite song. You have absolutely made my day. Thanks again.

  • i love you, aaron lewis. 29 year old man here. you touch me. beautiful cover.

  • Great Cover!

  • Dude Aaron Lewiss' voice just blows my frickin mind over and over again, and he nailed the shit outta this song . Love watching every cover he does hes amazing

  • Love Pearl Jam but way better vocal performance by aaron Lewis though.

  • fucking fantastic cover, I doff my hat to you squire.

  • I'm scared I thought Eddie was the only one that makes me cry with this song but man Aaron gave me the chills, he is so good.

  • Comment removed

  • Aaron Lewis freakin nails this shit

  • if you dont like it, dont listen to it, what the hell is wrong with you people

  • FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • probably one of the best covers of one of the best songs ever recorded

  • i used to like only metal nd every ttype of metal only! im older now nd ive learnd to appreciate different music

  • did he change the words tho?

  • I'm not a big Staind/Aaron Lewis fan, except for Mudshovel back in the day, but this is a pretty good cover.

  • @bleedingeyes08

Man...your loss, amazing band and Aaron has an amazing voice, writes songs from the heart

  • @88ejames He's definitely good, I just like their older heavier stuff. I like heavier music in general though.

  • And, I personally like Tokio Hotel.

  • @TJRobinson81 You're right. I was trying to use a metaphoric statement to get my point across about how awesome this cover was. Pearl Jam rocks and Vedder wrote the song. But, generally, when I want to hear this song, I subconsciously type Aaron Lewis instead of Pearl Jam.

  • 128 People suck!

  • @TJRobinson81 128 people are fans of tokio hotel...

  • no one will ever sing this with as much feeling as eddie.

    good cover though

  • this literally made me cry..

    -tommy

  • couldnt have a better guy cover this

  • pure talent gives me goosebumps everytime

  • I love Eddie Vedder as much as the next guy. But, this song no longer belongs to him. This song belongs to Aaron Lewis.

  • @glenv Im sorry....this is a great cover, I personally love it...but this song will always belong to Eddie Vedder...he wrote it, he sang it, and to this day he is still the only person who has felt the true pain of whatever it was that drove him to make this song...heart wrenching!

  • Great cover.

  • really good cover, and I am a massive Pearl Jam fan, ain't too many that could do this song justice, I mean there are lots of pearl jam songs that could be covered quite nicely, but this one is the biggest challenge of the whole discography if you ask me, and Aaron deserves allot of credit, the guy nailed it, props to Lewis and stained, they make some really good music...and as for Pearl Jam, there the greatest band in the world and still killing it. Peace!

  • @CheckmateRidRot amen bro

  • What a tribute to Eddie and PJ! SIMPLY AWESOME

  • shit....eddie woulda joined in and they woulda blew the doors off the building...imo...heheh

  • goosebumps at 4:04

  • i love his voice

  • amazing!!

  • every song he covers he just kills them!!! love eddie but aaron rocked another cover!!

  • this song...just encaptures so many emotions ive felt over the years.. its beautiful

  • pearl jam fan #1...and i will say thats a very good cover very good...pearl jam black unplugged tho eddie kills

  • Dear fellow Pearl Jam fans: I know there are 127 of you who think this is bad because it isn't Eddie, or because it's Aaron Lewis. Stop being snobs and enjoy the damned song.

  • This song is bad ass

  • we are listening to a legend .... can you hear it??

  • no eddie, but he sounds excellent and is doing the song justice!!

  • One of the best covers I've ever heard. Aaron was dead on. It's good to see how much he honors guys like Eddie Vedder, as well

  • @24TV1 If he wanted to honor Eddie Vedder than he should have looked up the lyrics, cause he didn't get them right!

  • @pearljm67 Okay, so he messed a few lyrics. I love Pearl Jam, but there's plenty of times I can't tell what he's saying. Even some of the licensed karaoke versions of this song had different lyrics. I know this because I sing this every time I show up at a karaoke bar somewhere. Aaron's said himself that he has a bad memory (mostly from when he used to be a heavy drinker), so he can slip sometimes just like anybody. I've heard singers mess up their own lyrics. No big deal. We know the song

  • simply awesome......

  • aaron does the covers of the best songs honestly

  • Comment removed

  • Almost as good as the original

  • Pearl Jam version > this version > others.

  • not bad :)

  • how can you even compare this to pearl jam? eddie sings it so much better and with much more passion.

  • Goog version... but I prefer Eddie Vedder. I can`t compare his amazing voice.

This november I will go to the concert, here in Chile!

  • What I fail to understand is why all you haters even watch the video if all you're gonna do is make negative comments. Go watch Eddie Vedder.

  • WOW ! this sounds alot like the original song .. good job aaron !!

  • The highest form of flattery to cover a classsic, and Eddie the Vedderman is 1 of the best at it

  • Steps for an Aaron Lewis cover:

    1. Pick a song.

    2. De-tune your acoustic guitar 1/2 step.

    3. Play the song at 75% of original tempo.

    4. Tilt your head slightly to the right.

    5. Softly sing the verses.

    6. Scream the choruses.

    7. Take a drag off your cigarette.

This isn't a flame because I enjoy his covers. Just making an observation.

  • @fuckshitass123 I observed that you made up the word "de-tune."

    enjoy the covers.

  • @iBelige ? detune is a word

  • @fuckshitass123 You forgot messing up the lyrics

  • @fuckshitass123 I know why ur name is fuckshitass... Cause u fuckin type shit out ur fuckin ass!

  • @fuckshitass123

you forgot 2 things pure talent and awesome vocal range

  • @fuckshitass123 you seem to have it down... When are you posting your cover?

  • @fuckshitass123 And to do steps 1-7 you need an amazing voice without autotuners that about 1% of the actual entertainers these days have. Aaron lewis could sing something like Amish Paradise and make it sound amazing.

  • best recording of a live performance.. no drunk annoying whore yelling the song right next to the camera! :)

  • why do people complain when bands cover other bands? its freaking compliment.

  • @BigBrueser Some of my favorite music ever is acoustic covers like this. Aaron Lewis is great at it, Bowling for soup also does really great covers.

  • @BigBrueser he did beyond justice....excellent

  • OMG he made a mistake! Who cares. I love PJ too, but sometimes it sounded like Eddie had a pile of crap in his mouth. I'm sure Aaron probably hasn't printed off the lyrics to study.

  • Dude so much better than Pear Jam

  • @subiime99 Im sorry but you are tone deaf if you don't think this cover does 100% justice to the song. It is a compliment when bands cover other bands.

  • Some people say Aaron Lewis is better than Pearl Jam. Which, of course, is impossible! But I have to say: If you do a Pearl Jam song, this is way to do it!

  • NO MMS; NO MMS; NO MMS NO MMS!!!!

Uno de Los Vocalistas q Más me laten cantando La Canción q MÁS ME ROMPE LA MADRE!!!!! WoW CHINGON!!!!! DX

  • Love the voice. But it would be better if he actual knew the lyrics. "And now my bitter hands...chaindo broken glass? chained of broken glass?". Cradle broken glass. Cradle is correct. One of several mistakes. Still, amazing voice, without question.

  • @calibansfury actually I think he did a mistake :D like he was sayıng chafe by mistake then suddenly changes it into cradle che-dle imo :)

  • @fcnmsstodiefor lol--maybe! He starts off saying "In some empty canvas", when it's "sheets of", he says "her legs spread out before me" when it's "here laid spread out before me", referring to the empty, untouched canvas and unformed clay "as her body once did". He boofs 'all five horizons' by saying "revolved a-remz? tuh suuhn", not "revolved around her soul", then mutters "fuh'fuh'fuh duh de fuuuuhn", not "like the earth to the sun", etc. Basically, he doesnt know this song lol.

  • look my cover too ..w.youtube.com/watch?v=8fzmY62VQYQ

  • musical talent like this doesn't come around very often these days

  • 2:12 He loves the old crowd!

  • who are those 122 deaf people ?!

  • @Gen920 IKR??

  • molto bravo..

  • Kind of sounds like "outside" at the start

  • Bibi mannaggia a te.

  • When ever Aaron Lewis does a cover it is almost 100% better.

  • @tiggfigg rofl, are you retarded...go look up "Black-Pearl Jam...Unplugged"....then talk of such ignorance.

  • excellent cover.....love aaron lewis....

  • I'm impressed. Good cover, Mr. Lewis.

  • aaron lewis is very tallanted but he's still no eddie vedder layne staley or chris cornell...@jason112687 the john lennon of this generation is john lennon there will never be another like him he's the john lennon of every generation because he was and is john lennon

  • It's good, very good, but noone can sing it like Eddie Vedder. For the people who didn't listen to the unplugged version of Pearl Jam: for me the best song ever! Do you wat emotion? There's the emotion!

  • one of my favorite songs ever! Great version.

  • He picks brave covers and everytime nails it. Ok can't deny the originals are better, but many so called musicians would fail and he does a stunning job.

  • Yup, the only guy to give Eddie a run for his money!!...and this is LIVE!!!!....Love this man!!

  • An incredible performance, and probably the only artist that could give Eddie Vedder a run for his money.

  • if you can't get goosebumps at 4:20, you should see a doctor, immediately. You have a disease.

  • as awesome as this video is, it truly hits you at 3:56. for me it's hard not to shed a tear. ;( ..... :)

  • aaron lewis is no doubt john lennon of our generation, love him. definately the guy to go to for a cover singer and all his songs rock!!!

  • Eddie Vedder created 4,008 accounts and liked this video

  • @ermonski I don't care who you are...that there comment was pretty damn funny!

  • @ermonski Pretty sure he didn't.

  • @ermonski how do you know thAT?

  • long live grunge

  • Wow.. every cover I've heard by Aaron has been amazing.. that's not typical among most artists. Great video, thanks for uploading it.

  • This cover is just amazing! I hate to say it, but it's almost just a good as the original (which is pretty damn good!) One great cover of one of my favorite songs, thanks Aaron! Words can describe how great this is, sorry for trying..

  • Comment removed

  • Thats talent right there. He killed this song. Just sat there and ripped it. Very nice. rock on.

  • Aaron Lewis is one of the few artists now days who is even better live then studio.... The studio recorded versions can't even come close to the emotion he shows at live show.

  • love it, best cover ever

  • Man, he got the lyrics wrong. That drives me nuts on this song!

It is not "Sheets of Empty Canvas, unused sheets of Clay... Her legs spread before me, as her body once did" I realize Eddie is deep, but damn. That makes NO sense.

The correct Lyric is "Sheets of Empty Canvas, unused sheets of Clay... Lay spread out before me, as her body once did." Referring to the Canvas and Clay.

  • @FrustratedNameSearch who gives a shit?? the feeling is just there!!! i was about to cry when i first heard it and i still do after millions of times

  • @keo774 I do. One of the greatest songs ever written should have the respect of the right lyrics being used.

  • this is better then Peal Jam

  • opinion acknowledged. Bu for me she's not that good.

  • any dumbass can sing bad romance or baby and defile those garbage of a song but no one could sing this masterpiece but great musicians.

  • @dominadord id love to hear you sing lady gaga bro. her music may not be your stile but she is defiantly one of the greatest singers

  • Not only is this guy one of the better song writers of our generation...he can cover damn near any song and make it sound amazing

  • its safe to say pearl jam unplugged @ mtv tops just about any cover or version of this... he totally rips his soul out on stage and then hands it to ya and ouch but wow. this however is still fucking spectacular. SO... unless ur singing along... STFU <3 plz and ty

  • Chills.

To be honest, I was never a PJ fan and slept on this song completely until watching this video a year ago, and I gained a great appreciation for the original thanks to Aaron. Really great song.

  • 3 words- Aaron FUCKING Lewis!!!!!!

  • HOT DAMN!! Yeah? WOW!!

  • Aaron lewis is loaded with talent. To be honest, i dont much like him...i dont know why. I think its because he puts a real depressing aura around everything he plays and he always plays depressing music. I'm not going to say he is a shitty musician though...he's fuckin great.

  • this guy right here man. its incredible how much emotion he puts into this. i love how at 2:18 he looks like he's fighting back a smile when everyone starts cheering. love this guy

  • and people listen to katy perry, justin bieber and lady gaga?...

  • Wow!! I love Pearl Jam and Aaron rocks the shit outta this!

  • @Astrocatlady Glad you can say that. I had a friend that "loved Eddie so much" she refused to listen to this cover, saying she'd "hate it".

Thanks for being open minded. :)

  • @Phantompumpkin7 I don't get people who are close-minded as to music. I love so many different artists and groups and always love to check out new things. I've stumbled on some pretty awesome stuff by being curious and checking out different stuff.

  • sounds almost exactly the same

  • ok i dont hate staind, i like some of there songs. im a musician myself. guitar for 14 years and drums for 6 years. i just dont like aaron lewis's voice. sounds like hes wining. i like corey taylor's verson of this cover better. thats just my opinion.

  • @bstonz1222 Why dont you shut up and keep your stupid opinion to yourself. This dude Aaron Lewis is an amazing singer. I guess everyone has different taste. We have good taste and you for example have really bad taste.

  • @bstonz1222 listen to pjs version... your suposed to sound that way

  • Aaron is so amazingly awesome! He usually does to the covers BETTER then the original artist! Can't wait to see him on October,21! Everyone make sure to buy the album on Sept,13!

  • best cover song ever, and I am not even a fan of Staind

  • Pearl Jam is my favorite bad ever, and "Black" is one my most favorite songs ever, but i have to say aaron lewis sings this better tha vedder. this is great cover

  • @PowerSurge55 fucking a real pj fan wouldn't say that abt eddie f u

  • I guess it's true most people don't recognize talent anymore because I don't understand why this does not have more views. Seriously. Freakin Bieber is number one on the views. please....I like that song myself but its NOT that good.

  • fuck you youtube.

  • 119 persons have his computer silently

  • Aaron is the man, show me another person that can sit there with a guitar and a mic and captivate an audience all night long...

  • Pearl Jams song is ok? He nailed every note aaron would have this great song if it wasnt eddie.. Love aaron he is real raw talent but cmon dude how can u dis pj//

  • The song Black by Pearl Jam is okay... But the cover Black by Aaron Lewis is absolutely perfect! He nailed every note and added emotion to it, he's an amazing vocalist and an amazing musician/song writer. Way better than what most other bands produce these days.

  • @pipebrother added emotion? he just sat there. why dont you look up pearl jam live playing this song and look into eddie's crazy face and tell me there's no emotion.

  • @markssite Because of the way Aaron sounded. His voice wasn't boring and dull... He didn't just sit there and match the pitches right and finish the song, his voice sounded absolutely perfect and I don't think anyone could do it better.

  • @pipebrother I never said Aaron didnt nail the cover but you saying pearl jam has no emotion is just plain retardation.

  • @markssite I never said that Pearl Jam didn't use emotion, I'm just saying that Aaron Lewis does it better. =P

  • autotuned obviously rofl

  • @MrCSSTRIKS

You sir are a complete dumbass for even thinking that, let alone mentioning it, I think you've been listening to Justin Bieber a little too long, this, this video of Aaron Lewis singing Black by Pearl Jam is pure, raw, talent.

    This is real music.

  • @trueloverofdarkness I don't listen to justin bieber, I listen pearl jam and I've been alive long enough to tell real from not real.

  • I really do like it, but it's missing that heart-felt emotion I get that Vedder can put into all of his music. But good job Lewis, props on it.

  • Seriously you don't like Staind? It's been a while, Outside, Epiphany damn. Well i'm not gonna judge, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but ive got my tickets to go see them in October & his voice alone will make it rock. Only problem i got is girlfriend is a pop princess so gonna take some magic to get her into these boys.

  • Man, I don't like Staind, but this guy can do some fucking covers man.

  • Outstanding. Truly, outstanding.
