BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari etc belong to high class people that can afford the best/exclusive/exotic cars. American, Japanese and some other Euro car companies belong to the middle/avg society. Some of their cars try and creep up and compete with the high class cars. Eg- Nissan GT-R loads of power, peak performance on track and can out perform an Audi R8 and can keep up with some Ferrari's and it cost more than 1/2 the price.

I always find it interesting when someone says a Corvette is just as good when I know they have never driven both. I've owned ferraris, lamborghinis and mercedes SL65, 55 and SLK55. I've also driven a Z06 and a ZR1. I would take my 1992 512 TR over either of the vettes. Nothing compares to the driver involvement in the Ferraris.  As for sheer driving pleasure and ease of effort, I still prefer my SL65. But then again, it isn't used for the same thing, now is it.

The only people complaining about Ferrari and Porsche prices when it comes to comparing those to the Corvette are the people who can't afford the Ferrari or Porsche. The cars are marketed to totally different demographics. Nothing drives quite like a Ferrari...sound, feel, feedback...one of the best in the world. Corvette is a good car, but still very cheaply constructed. The interior looks no better than what is in a mass produced lower end Chevy.

yeah well....go buy a vette then. there are reasons why the world motoring press agree that despite vette's having big motors and being fast. normally even the latest one, they are hard to drive fast except in straight lines and dont offer anywhere near the dynamics of a 430 scuderia or 599 fiorano or i imagine this 458. These cars are developed using the greatest technical driver the world has ever seen. plus vettes look no where near as good. Both cars are in different leagues.

The Track is mugello, the new Ferrari is beautiful, if it costs the same to you as what any regular VW or whatever costs to the average person then why would you not buy one?
