Man, I cannot stop watching this.........Don just kills me, he's really digging this.......Todd is the shit! What a great story and this is the definitive version for me!
@smdim67 the songs are nothing alike.... lol not the same chord progression, not the same lyrics.... the only thing the same is the facts and we'll you can't change the facts.
I can listen to Todd all day long he is a story teller a songwriter a damm good singer and first rate guitar picker.......fuckin awesome......id put all his songs up against Dylans shit and be just as proud
Sorry, but I don't see Todd as either a stellar singer or guitar picker. Doesn't matter at all to me because he's the greatest fucking artist ever. He just brings it. It's his songwriting and his delivery that ropes me in every time. I've never been so delighted to be roped in as by Todd Snider, but to call out his voice and his guitar skills for this hallelujah is just wrong to me. Those are the very least of his skills.
I thought I had every Todd Snider cd out there but I don't have this song. Is there any chance of this being on a new up comming cd. It's classic TS. I can't get enought of his stuff.
Dock Ellis once said in spring training with the Yankees that he hoped the Yankees kept losing, because if they did, Steinbrenner would keep flying down to Florida, and the more he flew to Florida, the better the chance was that he'd die in a plane crash. Thanks, Todd, for singing about Dock, like Zevon singing about Bill Lee. God Bless you, Todd, and God Bless Dock Ellis, rest in peace.
As an AVID Dodger fan - and a fan of the game in itself - these lyrics are GODSEND! I get that it's a metaphor, regardless it shows that you have knowledge of the greatest game on earth! Much love and blessings on your travels.......
I love this song! First heard at the Bluebird in Bloomington, In. I wonder if Don Was is going to work with Todd on the new album. Weird. Cool, but weird.
The true stories are always the ones that sound like there is no WAY that happened. haha Master writer right there folks.

Way too close to Chuck Brodsky. I thought the song was a cover with a few tweaks.

Both great songs about the same event but they aren't even remotely similar.

Yeah, I know it's great. It's not on his latest CD, "Peace Queer."
As far as I know he only does it live. I saw TS twice last year and he played it both times.
