Resource-wise i have a quad core AMD that uses 5 Watts more than the CPU the video was rendered by. I run electric-sheep, Linux torrent seeds, output HD to big-screen via HDMI/optical audio and no skip/glitch yet.
It's a tough issue because, if the PC does what you want it to, then great. the little
OS power meter thing? price of tea on the moon? same thing. who cares. I have had a much harder time with 32/64 bit drivers for M$ this new round of PC building, so it was an good time to quit 'em.
@mrmarciocruz Not true...its very simple...my own mother who cant use anything that has a power button (not joke) can use this system...she had 2 learn how but its really not that hard!!
@linden940 Believe me, i wish was that simple, but linux still too much to change to be like leopard or windows, linux you have to use a lot commands still, when everything be setup by graphic, linux will be perfect, because using for video/photo/gaming i really don't recommend linux, i used before slackware, redhat, suse... Nice ones, but too much to change.
true true...but as you said "Shows dual usage 15%, 14%. That would account for the recording, everything else, wasted "eye candy" resources." but the more "eye candy" the more the cpu has to work to record it...so the in all you COULD say we are BOTH right in our own way.
but when all the eye candy that I have my cpu hardly past 20% (it around 5% and 7% on both cores)
1 :06 Shows dual usage 15%, 14%. That would account for the recording, everything else, wasted "eye candy" resources. Don't misunderstand me, I have Linux Ubuntu 10.04 in my computer, and I love it. It was just a random comment, about how we use the power of it, and the capabilities of the hardware.
@Hyperborean01 did you account for the HD video recording that the computer is doing?...this video was taken in HD at the same time of the computer testing. =)
Eh ive seen some hitches in that video. Like trying to move that window in expo mode without setting mouse(keyboard) binding :)
And you ofc may hide interface bars when using cube, also you could set slower motion time when moving from one side of cube to another.
Good video, only bad thing about is that people dont know how to properly set it up and configure it trough compiz manager (and its not shown in videos + its not in default ubuntu installation). If comunity will fix those it will be :)
Download easyCompizConfigSettingsManager and tweak the settings till you come @ Desktop, select Cube instead of Globe, and press ctrl+alt+ left mouse click.! W00T!
@cruzc11 the video is called Ubuntu 9.10 = Compiz Fusion settings Part 1 (watch part one and part two) and another good video for you to watch would be this one Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala + Compiz Fusion skydomes
Looks very nice.. Coasts very nice -_-
