  • Fabulousss! Makes me really want to do this song. I love it a million times (: I love the rawness.

  • Amazing, bless!!!!

  • the young boys voice gave me goosebumps....

  • I really like the unity and culture in this video

  • love this *o*

  • we are singing this in my choir!!!!

  • @xxSweetLCxx cool!

  • i watched the clip and im a afrikaans teacher and there are only 7 afrikaans words a black must of posted this on youtube and he must of been a real k###er

  • En plus de cette belle symphonie, le petit du milieu à la voix de Souhaib Chbib, si vous voyez ce que je veux dire ;)

  • Beautiful song singing it for choir at the moment it's really hard to learn but I think we will get it soon enough.

  • schöner Song ... süß gesungen :-)

  • I really wish (some)Americans, who didn't grow up in Africa, would get rid of their one dimensional view of what race is and take the South African paradigm into account. I am coloured, i am Khoi, white and black. I refer to myself as coloured and do so proudly, cause well, this is what I am. The khoi people were around living as a seperate group from black and white since long before Dutch colonisation and saying that we are "just" black, is not accurate in the least.

  • I am not nigger but i like this song

  • naturally I listen Dub or dnb but THAT IS THE BEST SONG EVER

  • 15 people have tin ears. So that's 30 tin ears.

  • Go forward You are meandering on those mountains The train is from South Africa You accelerate you accelerate on those mountains The train is from South Africa Go forward You are meandering on those mountains The train is from South Africa You accelerate you accelerate on those mountains The train is from South Africa
  • I like this, give me a smile.

  • yo listen ya'll i went to south african on a concert tour and south africa is one of the most united nations of all colors in the world.. so ya u dont need to be black to be african.. ever

  • wow nice

  • This song is in ZULU sung by Afrikaans speakers.

  • the majority of Afrikaans speakers are coloured (mixed race) people. People think Afirkaans is just a white language. It's NOT. Dutch was a white language, which the people found difficult to speak. So the brown people created Afrikaans. It's an African version of the Dutch language.

  • hesso cute lols :)

  • This should have been the song of the World Cup!!

    I hated that waka-waka one!!!!

  • the only thing i dont like about this was wen it ended, its okay tho theres a replay :D

  • goosebums. love it

  • Thats Afrikaans and Afrikaans is a "germanic" language. Belongs to German, dutch, english etc. Ek hou daarvan om te sing. :)

  • sorry but it was traslated in afrikaans ?

the original version is in zulu ?

  • OMG the africans are real

  • thumbs up if u felt sorry for africa after listeninign to that sond and 13 people go suck dicks for dislicking how can u its the most fantastic song

  • MAGIC

  • What talent they all have, especially the soloist and drummer! Well done, all of you! That's when I miss the impromptu concerts we used to have and the spontaneity of the scholars! God Bless you all!!!

BTW, 'Cannoir', when foreigners refer to someone being African, it does not mean they're implying that you're black, just as, simply being born in China doesn't make you Chinese by appearance. They refer to anyone who comes from the Continent of Africa as 'African'.

  • MAGIC

  • this song just makes me want to get up and dance! :D

  • I like this song and I'm not black...

    I am from African though^^

  • i like very much this song, and i am very glad to see all this pritty kids sing it...i hate people that post only photos of hungry and ill afrikan children...i am sure that most of them are happier than europian white or black beople...what ever

  • to me...would sound better if it were harmonized...but...ShoShoLoza away (=

  • I'm from germany

We sang the song in the school

    I loved this song!

  • i live in u.k, heard this song in scul, been singing it alot

  • I love this song, Actually, im living and im From Mexico, i been in the Fifa World Cup South Africa, and i hear this song in one shuttle bus in Soccer City ending the game South Africa Vs Mexico from people from South Africa and i said, wow is a beautiful song, so finally today i found the name, and i would like to know the meaning!! Greetings From Mexico.!! Bafana Bafana!!

  • Shosholoza !

  • Respect.

  • Awsome

  • Beautiful

  • These are coloured children (who speak Afrikaans) singing the song, that's why it's called "Shosholoza in Afrikaans" even though they obviously aren't singing in Afrikaans.

And Afrikaans is the language of many white and coloured people in South Africa. Not at all a Dutch language, just derived from Dutch and some other languages that came to South Africa.

  • @GZAification Well its from the dutch language, in majority,,

  • @Krigarkaj Yes, but still not a Dutch language, especially not how coloured people speak it. No Dutch person could understand much cape flats Afrikaans. Even South Africans struggle to understand coloured Afrikaans.

  • @GZAification no my friend it not afrikaans its zulu

  • @saferking Ye the song is Zulu, but the kids are Afrikaans speaking, that's why the vid is called "afrikaans shosholoza", even though that doesn't make much sense because they don't sing it in Afrikaans or anything.

  • @GZAification i thought that afrikaans was just a white south african thing. good to know.

  • @GZAification "Coloured"... funny. In America we have people whose skin is much fairer than that of these kids, some even have blue eyes and we call them black, which is what they are. Hell even in places like England and Canada these kids are black and no different racially than Desmond Tutu.

  • @qlaw04 Actually you call some people Latino/Hispanic too don't you? Coloureds are more similar to that, their own language, culture and heritage that's very different from South African blacks. Only a small bit of their racial make-up is shared with blacks, it's mostly Malay, Khoisan, and bits of white and black mixed. Differs for each group though.

How is black just "what they are" because it's the term you use for some people? Coloured is the only term they've ever used for themselves.

  • @qlaw04 um maybe in america but in south africa they are coloured, they are a considerable part of the population that formed from interrracial relationships between whites, blacks, malay, indians, khoisan etc. Plus the mother tongue for most of them is Afrikaans. All you have said is what they would be considered in America, but they aren't in America, they are in South Africa.

  • @qlaw04 you really should know the country and its origins before you passing comments about what you do and call people in America. The coloured people in South Africa actually call themselves that as do the rest of the country. It is not a racist term it is simply what they are called. Some will actually get annoyed if you call them blacks. Please dont think that just because in other countries they refer to them as one thing and therefore we have to as well.

  • i wish ppl would stop saying stuff such " I like this song even though I am not african" WTF! is that.do you have to be blk to appreciate african music or something.

do those non black who post here want a tap in the back because they try to appreciate some of africa's music ?

  • @cannoir: a tap in the back? You meant a tap on the shoulder? Or a stab in the back?

  • @schubi42 lol! I must have had both phrases in my mind at the time .

  • @cannoir Amen, and word on that ^^

  • @cannoir Beautiful voices. BEAUTIFUL

  • @cannoir get over yourself ! Non black (wtf is that for!) / white people love our country and love the music whether its white or black or colored. get over it.

  • @cannoir get over yourself ! Non black (wtf is that for!) / white people love our country and love the music whether its white or black or colored. get over it. Its a compliment!

  • @cannoir You don't have to be black to be African, mate.

  • @cannoir

I'm Green. But i like this music.

  • this song reminds me of when i went to south africa :)

  • we saw this in the day at skool at asembly cause a preist was there talkin bout gettn us to africa...and i saw this and its so happy...and ii really wana goo :')!

  • This isn't Afrikaans.

  • I can't believe what I'm reading here. They are just as South Africans as you probably are, if not more.

  • @bublegummie they are South African 100% but they are not afrikaans. Afrikaans is a language and one subgroup of south africans. There is also Ndeble, zulu, venda, sotho, tswana etc. to call this Afrikaans when the kids are not afrikaans and not singing in Afrikaans is like incorrect. It is like saying "The star spangled banner in spanish" and then showing white american kids singing the song in english? They are definately amerivan but it is not spanish!

  • Ich Liebe Es <3 :D

  • man i love this song so much my band are gunna do a cover, try and keep it as authentic as possible, im not south african of african in any way, im british, but i do believe we all derived from africa, the train has come from africa all over the planet, big up this tune big time

  • me gusto el video! pero alguien se dio cuenta q al comienzo del video al lado del chico de la primera voz habia un nene con una campera diferente y despues cuando lo volvieron a enfocar ya no estaba, lo habian sacado?

  • That's is what south Africans should be singing in WC matches, not the damm vuvuzela

  • w bafana bafana

  • thanks to FlamingoWings 68:

    Shosholoza koué zon'ta ba

Go on, climb up these mountains,

    - HMONG

  • Shosholoza!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That song was the inspiration for the South African's Rugby Team to win the championship in 1995 in the last minute.

  • love this song

  • amazing

  • Its not Afrikaans its Zulu and it is a song about a long and difficult journey which was traditionally sung by workers on mines and the railways

  • Comment removed

  • ha ha ha- it's not Afrikaans, but it ain't English either ;)

  • These kids rock...

  • when I first saw this video about a year ago...it brought tears to my eyes - now, I have seen ver 20 Shosholoza videos - this one is still the best!

  • @lacausetek You're right, this is cute, but have you seen the Drakensberg Boys Choir's video of this song? This is awesome and with the typical harmonies that I love so much about African music...

  • amazing!

  • It's Zulu. I love this song good video.

  • amazing song. Beautiful voices. 5 stars!

  • This was not originally a song of joy or victory. It would have been sung by workers on way to the mines, a harsh and dark reality of hard labor for low pay. It has since come to represent the banding together of a people, their pride and dignity, and their progression into a new and free world.

  • Amazing tune!

  • Shosholoza is a traditional Southern African folk song. The song was traditionally sung by all-male work gangs in a call and response style.

  • Could anyone to tell us the meaning of shosholosa, pease ?

  • good work...love that chant......

  • I am not Afrikaner but this is an insult to them.I wanted afrikaans and this aint one. Please change this!!!!!

  • this is fucking afrikaans you retard... change the name its fucking zulu dont insult afrikaans with this shit....

  • Fuck you with your fucking word suckerr

  • It is not afrikaans so why lable it as afrikanns? it is zulu

  • Adorable!

  • nothing about this is afrikaans, and id know, i am afrikaans, this is Zulu

  • Not Afrikaans language. Not Afrikaaner kids.

  • @cmwyoung

I bet those kids are more "Afrikaans" than any of the Boer-settlers...

Boers still are guests over there...dont ever forget that....

  • @dialbforbenny most boers in south afrika i think there offically african now, not sure

  • @dialbforbenny Yeah after 500 years, developing the country to the most prosperous and stable country in Africa, if the white population in SA are still guests, then what does that make the blacks in America and Europe according to you?

  • @vandek513

    Go ask them!

    And 500 years my arse!

As if the enslaved blacks in the US and immigrants in Europe forced their way into the white society! By the way blacks in America are called African Americans. Afrikaans means 'African' in Dutch....clearly whites are not.

  • @dialbforbenny So... you're saying the Blacks in America and Europe are Africans and Blacks in America and Europe belong as much in Europe and America as these Whites in South Africa. You're such a racist benny.

  • @dialbforbenny I think you are mistaken there...afrikaans means indeed african in dutch, but in this context, afrikaans is the dutch-based language spoken by afrikaner, who are white and of dutch/german calvinistic horigins..the original boers (boer, is dutch for farmer).

calling black south africans afrikaner would probably offend them, and is wrong like calling mr "insert random latino name" 3rd generation from New York a WASP (white anglo saxon protestant).

    simply incorrect.

  • @dialbforbenny charlize theron is afrikaner, nelson mandela is south african.

...and in this case, these kids are neither afrikaner nor signing in afrikaans. they are south africans singing in, I believe Ndebele...

  • @dehro Ok... so now I'm wondering... reading your comments... aren't all the people in South Africa South Africans? I mean even if some are afrikaner... in the stict sense that they are of dutch origins, just like there are others that are Zulu... and from other tribes...

It just seems kind of strange to me that they don't all consider themselves South African...

In the US there are many people from different origins but they're still American, right?

    I'm a halfbreed...Norwegian and Spanish :D
