I still want to see an episode where the doctor finds out his daughter is still alive, anyone else? To clear this up i'm referring the 'The Doctor's Daughter', which is a Tenant episode from a couple seasons ago. The doctor believe's his daughter to be dead but she actually survives to being shot and escapes the planet. If any of you haven't seen it I suggest you watch it, it was excellent.
But if you turned off all the Chameleon Circuits, they wouldn't turn into Police Boxes, would they? We'd see loads of actual *default* TARDIS shells, which I don't think is familiar to many of us.
I can't recall what a TARDIS is really meant to look like. Certainly not a Police Box!
@Destro7000 They've never shown what a Tardis really looks like. Who gives a fuck anyhow. Its always been shown as a Police Box on the show and thats that - so don't give it the 'I can't recall what...' bollocks.
@TheMasterNo6 sorry what? I'm guessing that's somesort of reference to fiction? but I'm sorry that my name isn't a reference to anything, it's a shortening of 'Destroyer' a corny old name I used to use in the days of LAN arenas xD
Well, I saw a deleted scene from the Eleventh Hour that showed the Doctor explaining to Amy that the Tardis determines what to correctly turn into each time but then ultimately turns into a Police Box, every time it materialises. So according to that it works, just not correctly. Any hoooo
now that would hav been a great scene but it was still an awsome episode
After watching this episode I actually see the TARDIS differently now and I feel thats its more of a character on the show bcoz this episode shows us it has a personality and can think on its own.
@adamcbourkevlog Tough you might be able to guess her "personality" of sorts just by watching the regular episodes, there are little moments here and there... But yeah, the story portrayed her just like I always imagined she'd be like, it was certainly a memorable episode
@adamcbourkevlog Fucks sakes its always been established the doctor considers his Tardis a 'she' and its not using the chameleon circuit to change into something else to match its surroundings when it lands anywhere as well as its original series 'doesn't go where he wants and lands somewhere else' firmly established it as a character in its own right with its own sense of character. Even the interiors on the new series portrayed that. Gaiman just played on it, nothing new from a prick like him.
@TheMasterNo6 Yes, and they simply said that they personally felt they could see the tardis more clearly after watching the episode. No need to be a fucking asshole.
@TheMasterNo6 So, if a car that you referred to as a 'she' suddenly took hold of a human body and started talking to you, and, dare I say, flirting with you, you wouldn't feel a little bit different about the car after the embodiment went away?
@RJLupin6 What? I really don't care. Its not going to happen. Everytime I post a comment on a Who upload I usually get people being overly serious over Dr Who. Its just a tv show, crap make-believe I watch and all these overly opinonated answers need to get a fucking life. I don't drive. I don't expect a sodding car to become a human being - fucks sakes.
The chameleon circuit changes the appearance, so without one functioning, a TARDIS looks like whatever the last Time Lord driver wanted it to look like, interior control room as well as exterior. The Doctor and Idris just needed to cobble together a workable console and a floor to stand on. The 'up and down thingie' holds the environment bubble as well as moves it.
@977menaA I don't think anyone knows what the outside of a TARDIS looks liek without a chameleon circuit. I kind of assumed all that stuff on the planet was tardises since in disguise so i would say the episode worked without that scene but it would have been a very cool scene.
@977menaA According to the war games episode, the TARDIS originally looks like a plain grey metal box without the chameleon circuit and matrix stored inside.
@OleTheKGameplay I think by 'lost' they mean 'decided not to film, or cut out in the editing room after filling' - usually they cut scenes because they take up too much time without adding enough to the episode, or they would take too much time and money to film, etc.
If the tardises were all dead, wouldn't their chameleon circuits have stopped operating anyway? That scene might be cute, but it doesn't seem to follow the mythos of the Doctor Who Universe correctly.
@dorain1 not necessarily. the Doctor's chameleon circuit is broken. that coudl mean it's functioning improper or it could not be functioning at all. If its not functioning at all then chameleon circuits don't have to be 'on' for the thing to stay a certain shape, only to change shapes.
@dorain1 Perception filter might still work after all that part of the pavement where the TARDIS almost split the rift in Cardiff was effected such that anyone standing there would be effectively invisible so it is possible a means to deactivate that influence would be needed especially given how big the TARDISes are on the inside!
What a bummer that was taken out! Thanks for posting cos us USA folks don't get to see this stuff here...and hell yeah, I loved this eppie!! Always knew the ol' gir lwas alive, but to take her spirit like that and let them say Hello...it was sweet.
The default TARDIS shell is like a grey cabinet,, with doors

watching this got me wondering. what does a Tardis look like before it uses its chameleon circuit?
iLykHardsytle 5 months ago 2
@iLykHardsytle It looks like a big plain white cupboard with one big door. Watch either The Claws of Axos or The War Games.
