@CosmicBeingMusic I usually sample from vinyls. I have a lot of records. I do use drum machine sound samples, like TR808, TR909, DMX, Linndrum, etc., that I found on Internet. I use MPC-2000XL more now though.
@jvcforce Can you believe this joint will be 20 next year?!!!! This beat will always stand the test of hip hop time!! Matter of fact, it's timeless!! T.R.O.Y.!!! Big shout to JVCforce, Pete Rock, CL Smooth, & Trouble T Roy!! TRUE hip hop lives on!!!
@Sinosure Wow, almost 20 years... indeed, time goes by very fast. I wonder how many times I've listened to this. Without this song, I don't think Tom Scott's "Honeysuckle Breeze" LP would've been reissued.
@jvcforce Yeah see that's the thing, they reprinted issues right? Well that just says what sampling can do for forgotten records! So why all the deal about sampling a snippet of an album track? That statement JVC just solidifies my views on sampling!
@Sinosure No problem with sampling as long as you pay the original artist. That's just proper and that's also the way that you show respect to the original artist.
@RUDOLPHLYRICS My old Panasonic PV-GS120 (3CCD cam!), attached to my Mac laptop via FireWire. I use QuickTime Player to capture the video. The DV camera is used as webcam. Audio input is handled by USB M-Audio Quattro, 24 bit rate. Note this, I record the video clip uncompressed! I don't edit, I rehearse a few minutes before each shooting. I upload the big, uncompressed video file to YouTube. Upload would take time, but the result is better because it is compressed only once on YouTube server.
good job. however it would sounds much better on mpc with some loose velocity sensitivity on drums (i know it's impossible with electribes). especially those busy snares. just a suggestion:)
@michal23pl Complex velocity editing is totally possible on the ES-1. I have the 2K and the ES-1, and I prefer the ES-1 when it comes to velocity implementation :)
@michal23pl The velocity functions are essentially the same on the esx-1. Sure it sucks not being able to tap the pads and hear the changes in volume according to pressure applied, but all of this can be worked around with a bit of programming and real time knob tweaking. The motion sequencing capabilities are a wonderful added bonus that can really take the expressiveness of your tunes to new musical heights-this is why I really prefer my tribes over my MPC. It's all just preference though! :)
@michal23pl Velocity of each step can be sequenced on any Electribe. It is called "motion sequence" on Electribe series. Value of each velocity can be recorded with Level knob or in "Pattern mode" in ES-1 (Step mode for ESX.) I didn't use velocity variation for the drum samples, but if listen closely on the horn and the short chorus samples, you know it is used.
Any chance fans may download your instrumental
