  • mi siempre amada Cecilia <3

  • Beautiful, but I need to say, Jesus had brown skin not white skin.

  • @AtheismCentral I don't want to be rude, but do Jews look like they have brown skin? The peoples of the Levant before the Arab invasion were just as white as all Southern Europeans.

  • j'aime beaucoup cecilia bartoli et natalie dessay.

  • I love Jesus & Mary so much. I always think Mary is a very good mother of Jesus & don't forget she is our mother too. Sue

  • dark vocal... dont like... :-S

    and so much glissando...

  • dark vocal... dont like... :-S

  • This is beautiful. I tried to sing it... pls check my vid.

  • la chanson du rêve d'une amoureuse

  • Presque inaudible!

  • What a great version!

She is one of the most genuine musician alive.

  • It's pretty, BUT, someone said it was the best version he heard...SORRY....whoever has ears knows that the best is "STILL" PONSELLE.

  • oh my god!! i dont quite get how anybody can say that she cant sing!!!!

  • thank you.

  • AVE MARIA!!!

  • Thanks a lot !!!

  • Jackie Evancho sang the best version of this song about a year ago.

  • @theFforlife Hahhaha. That girl can't sing. She's ruining her chords and will be mute in a decade.

  • @RubyTeeg Cecelia Bartoli is one of the most famous Italian opera singers of all time. Her technique is near perfect by most accounts. She will go down as one of the greatest Italian mezzo sopranos in modern history. I got the chance to see her at the Met in New York and it was amazing. Research her more. She's had more vocal training than either of us can imagine, and her carrer has spanned a couple decades already. Seriously, research her.

  • @RubyTeeg Just listen to her at concert, I guarantee you, you change your mind!)

  • @theFforlife You're kidding, right? Please be kidding.

  • PERFECT!!!

I heard many interpertions of Ave Maria.. so far Cecila is the MOST perfect one! At least my humble opinion.

  • What an intriguing arrangment

  • this is so fantastic i love cecilia and i love this peice and them together its just perfect

  • If this music is what heaven is all about than what am i doing here on this god forsaken earth?

  • I do like Cecilia's rendition here, though this maybe too operatic in the climactic notes, and not as reverential as some of the other famous ladies I've been listening to here tonight..

I've been trying to find the Ave Maria used in the opening of the documentary, "Overdose: The Next Financial Crisis" It's also available on Youtube. A haunting voice that really grabs me. If anyone knows...

  • What a wonderful voice! Thanks for sharing!

  • I CANT HEAR ANYTHING!

  • @aghaanantyab turn the volume up

  • Heard Batoli sang this song on 4th Juni in Bad Kissingen, Germany. It was just wonderful and even much beautiful than this one!

  • wow just wow so beautiful

and this is just my opinion but ( and dont get mad or anything i am only a 14 year old)

i do think that race doesnt matter we are all the same inside

and that there is no such that as " good or evil" its just a label that society has put on people we are all the same and we should just be happy and live life

  • Wow.... the most beautiful version I've ever heard!

  • which painting is that in the video please??? it looks so beautiful!!!!

  • Such a beautiful song is only fit to be sung by an extremely beautiful voice, like this <3

  • A voice so beautiful, angelic, pure, to honor the Holy Mother, Blessed Mother, Dear Mother of God, may she smile her sweet radiant smile on us, I ask that you bless Cecilia, and bless the world to make it better; please pray for us and make us worthy of Christ's promises through Christ our Savior. Amen

  • The Mother of God must have smiled when she first listened to this...

  • We are all the same under the color of our skin. Race? i know this sounds funny but look at the word race. Race=competition, just like a race of animals, rushing to win.

  • 22 people are tone deaf!!

  • ¡Maravilloso! ¡Sublime!

  • how can you argue when listening to something so pure and beautiful?!

  • It is Franz Schubert's composition applied to a Latin prayer in more religious and so less popular arrangement ... To misrepresent the composer and the original Latin prayer verges on the sinful

  • @BODHI379

This is not Franz Schubert's Ave Maria. This piece was written by Charles Gounod who added his own melody on top of Bach's Prelude No.1 in C Major.

  • @Invisus944

Sure, that's what you can read on the video information!

  • @Invisus944 There in the tittle says..... Bach/Gounod.....

  • @Invisus944 no shit. read the title

  • AMAZING

  • oh my goodnes... at the begnning i thought it was like... a bell or something of like opure sound, and then i realized it was a voice... wow..

  • linda Cecilia

  • this is a pure magic.

  • SEMPLICEMENTE SPETTACOLARE,GRANDISSIMA CECILIA!!!!!

  • Are you talking about the Jewish religion or the Jewish race?

  • @koalaswrath

It doesnt exist a " Jewish race "!!! stupid !!!

  • @MissTaiChiThis Then if I'm stupid, explain to me what the Jews are? Caucasian? Black or Mongoloids like you? The master races blended. Their cultures blended. I don't see any black Chinese people. Seriously... What race are the Jews? Don't be a douche bag and tell me off for being ignorant. Enlighten me 'cause as far as I know, the Jews refer to non-Jews as gentiles, not fellow Caucasians.

  • @koalaswrath

to be a Jew is the same like being a christ or a muslim. THIS ARE RELIGIONS AND !!!!!!!NO RACES!!!!!!! Human races dont excist, the first humans were black. Our skins fitted to the different environments were humans lived after the first big continent was broken. Saying that there excist races brought us the 2nd World War , in our days people are smarter

  • @MissTaiChiThis

    christ = christian, sorry

  • @MissTaiChiThis Racism not the races may have perhaps brought about the WWII. What continent are you talking about? Pangaea? R U serious? Obviously you know little of what you're talking about. Saying we came from blacks and therefore we are all the same race is like saying chimps & gorillas are humans too. We all have thumbs... All primates adapted to their environments as well. I hope you r really not so naive as to think people are smarter nowadays because racism has disappeared. It hasn't.

  • @koalaswrath actually, genetically, race does not exist. however, socially it does. the term "race" as we now know it, really didn't reach it's maturity until the advent of European imperialism. for reference please read... Smedley, Audrey. Race in North America: Origin and Evolution of a Worldview. Boulder: Westview Press, 1999.

    it's quite interesting.

    (@missTaiChiThis)

  • Jesus & Mary were not white, redheaded Irish folks. What's up with that painting? Did the artist forget he was depicting Jews?

  • @koalaswrath That's a stereotype to assume there are no Jews that are not black or brown haired with brown eyes and tan skin. There are Jews with white skin, black skin, even Asian Jews - with all different colored eyes and hair. Just as there are Christians of multiple hair, eye, and skin colors.

  • wonderful

  • so beautiful.... :)

  • I love Bach =)

  • this has nothing to really do with religion. listen to my gorgeous sing!

  • @oliviasmulyan really? this is all about religion.

  • @saigonpunkid yea but her voice is gorgeous!

  • your right

  • cecilia i cry all the time when i hear this your voice is angelic!

  • Hear this... once we parish, that miracle 'll still exist.

  • Hear this... once we parish, that music will still exist. Thank you!

  • c'est faux, effets inutiles et hystérique

  • Hail Mary, mother of God, mother of Love!

  • moreschi ave maria

  • Cecilia Bartoli... Divina !!

  • For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him - JESUS CHRIST CAN SAVE YOU - CALL HIM NOW

  • Religion? What's that all about? It's her voice and passion that I love.

    FatherJon

  • Wunderbar

  • feel the healing!

  • feel the healing!

  • Wunderbar. Mit so viel Gefűl gesungen.

  • Perfetta

  • Just enjoy this beautiful music

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

  • On dirait un Ange...

  • I might have shed some tears

  • la perfection ! merci

  • SHE IS THE BEST "MEZZO SOPRANO" INTERPRETER THIS COMPOSITION!!

  • I know who she is MEZZO GeeEmOh...only did not distinguish timbre.

But for me still it is the best performer this composition.

  • no matter how many renditions of this piece i find, this is simply by far the best i can find, but unfortunately imagine xD i would love to listen to men with falsetto doing this..

  • I just love this woman. Thank you, Cecilia, for the moments you've given us all. She is a musician from head to toes.

  • Comment removed

  • @KezziaTybel ahem. MEZZO, mind you.

  • Cecilia Bartolli is one of th efinest voices of all time. SHe is right up there with Caruso, Pavarotti and Callas. The absolute cream.

  • @phuckmycuntt I'm afraid but you forgot some of the masters like Caballé, Plácido or Krauss

  • @CorodelCaminoReal No I didn't forget. I rate her far better than those three. Krauss is very good I grant you. The other two make a very good living.

  • commuovente !!! divine sound !! thanks a lot for sharing !!!!

  • Yes! The best Ave Maria! I love Jesus.

  • ha jól hallom, g-durban énekli, csodálatos hangterjedelem,és hála istennek hallani a mély regisztereket is,Cecilia szeretlek.

  • Absolutely beautiful. Her dynamics are excellent, her tone is gorgeous. Many people have done excellent jobs, but she (and many others, I'm sure) has captured the essence of the song.

  • so magical voice

  • Cecilia Bartoli is the most amazing mezzo soprano on this planet. Nobody can match up to her.

  • what passion!

  • @pikudo0011 Mine was a valid observation that was meant to bring up discussion about the middle-ages artists who painted such images based on the wishes of the Roman Catholic Church. However, please don't let my comment hamper your intellectual prowess that you so clearly expressed in your return post to me. Don't bother to respond!

  • It totally amazes me that one could depict dead Jewish people from 2000 years ago as blond and light colored. OK, that might come across ugly, but the truth is that people did not look like that according to scientists and anthropoligist well versed in that region.

  • aM I so emotional man?

  • That was a B. She ain't a mezzo. I don't believe it.

  • c'est superbe, une voix merveilleuse

  • I thought I sang...but this one took my breath away...and my title too... congratulations extraordinarily expression of the song and the melodi... my respects to this talent...

  • Bravo Cecilia.

  • This song is a tension-release case study, is it not? If I understand that concept correctly... I mean really, it's like a wave of power that keeps cresting bigger, and bigger, and BIGGER...and then subsides, and suddenly flares up HUGE...and then kind of touches down... it's amazing.

  • Would have preferred she sing this in a lower key. It would be better show her lovely lower timbre. The last top note was not her best. Still worth hearing.

  • @Lovelytenor1 I AGRE .. THATS WAS THE ONLY THING I DIDNT CARE FOR IT WAS A HARSH SOUND LIKE AAAAAAAAH instead of ahhhhhhh....

  • Angelic ^.^

  • Godess Cecilia Bartoli i am deeply impressed by her voice

  • I think of my game hitman blood money when I hear this song, I am going to hell!

  • All the great sopranos sing this piece beautifully but this performance seems to stand out from all perspectives: musicalness, voice and emotion. Thank you for posting it!

  • 2:02 goddamn

opps sorry for cursing bla bla LOL

  • The picture is wrong. Jesus was a German? The song is great. The melody is great. The religion is a criminal organization.

  • @OneLife26

You don't know any jews, huh? There are blondes and especially red-haired jews as well.

  • @OneLife26 Christianity isn't a criminal organization.

  • Her high note is really squeaky and narrow voweled. She usually does not squeak. Oh well

  • She just leaves me breathless. I just adore her. Thank you for posting this for us.

  • Beautiful, her voice is utterly transcendental. Great upload. Thank you. God Bless

  • esa la cantamos enl coro i iOoo""" WOOW GENIAL!

  • ceci sei grande

  • I love Ms. Bartoli and think she is an amazing talent, but when I listen to this, I want to hear it sung gently.

  • I just love this Ave Maria... even more than Schubert's :) Brava!

  • not the ave maria i was looking for??

  • @brancool88 Maybe you want Franz Schubert's arrangement.

  • Comment removed

  • We were doing the Bach piece today in Schenkerian analysis class, and my lecturer seems to think this version is "a big pile of crap" hahaha ... he says the original prelude doesn't need a melody line LOL

  • her quiet voice is SO GORGEOUS!

  • oh my god! it is great! almost make my tear drop!

  • There is no better example of amazing singing

Cecilia, sei una cantante molto brava. Voglio cantare come tu.

  • People just enjoy the music. If somebody can imbue such rapture into a piece of music (as Bartoli does) and manages this through religious belief, so what (I say this as an atheist)?

  • I adore her more than any creature on this world but what does she do to that high B-flat?!! OUch!

  • Some of these hateful comments crush the experience to listening to such a beautiful piece of music. Either way,Cecilia Bartoli has an absolutely entrancing voice!

  • @Anna27051962

What's this got to do with the music? You're way off the point. Listen to the music. Your comments belong in another category; political/religious perhaps. So please keep them out of this music category. Thanks.

  • @Anna27051962 Calm down, I would seek medical consultation because you sound clinically hysterical to me.

  • @Anna27051962 - Your a bad liar and you have no concrete proof to that.

  • @Anna27051962 To anyone reading, look at Anna to see what reading Da Vinci Code and the like can do to you...

  • @Portubed hahaha you're right about that!!!

  • @Portubed The Da Vinci Code is not antisemitic, nor does its author write on or profess to believe any of the things written by "Anna".

That said, beautiful, beautiful music. I may find religious faith (as, indeed, I find most kinds of faith) grossly misplaced, but anything that can inspire this kind of wondrous beauty can't be all bad.

  • @Anna27051962 .. please don't pass judgement on a religion like that, it's rather disrespectful. You come to listen to the music...

  • Ah that's better. I tight vibrato in the voice...more like Celine Dion is for pop. Some of the opera singers have a long waver in the vibrato. I don't like it as much. This is definitely one of the more beautiful voices I have heard. Hilary Hahn does the same for violin (a beautiful tight vibrato).

  • Where can I get this recording? IMO this is the most beautiful piece of music ever written and Cecilia does it very well. I adore Cecilia.

  • Cecilia, you are amazing! A great artist and a sweet woman! Best wishes for your future!

M.F (we sang together in London nine years ago... Who am I?) : - )

  • simply put: beautiful

  • wohltempierte klavier bach

  • To be honest, although I'm a moderate Christian (Catholic), I think anyone, with or without a faith, should be able to appreciate and share the beauty of this music. To the people who are so anti-religious, think for a moment about all of the beautiful and priceless pieces of art that have been completely inspired by religion yet are shared by all. It is not the main cause of wars or hatred; man's own mixture of greed, ignorance, pride, spite and envy does that all by itself.

    Live and let live!

  • Wonderful version, thanks for uploading

  • Come on guys!! Just enjoy the music!! Music is the language (and religion I might add) that unites us all. So whether or not one believes in God does not matter. =] Music is Unbiased, it does not judge the fallen man nor does it instigate who is worthy of it...

  • this for you died on 09/11/01 9 year this sep

  • beautiful!!!! who cares about religion and that! This is a masterpiece!!!!!

  • @Dorothyluzdeagua1 Quite so Dorothy.!

  • Ahh awesome voice, i really enjoy Cecilia Bartolli, She has an angelical voice... I like it very, very much..

  • Sencillamente, hermoso

  • Comment removed

  • Sublime! La mejor interpretación que he oido!!! What a piece!!! What a singer!!! Love you Cecilia!!! Praise to the Mother of God!!!
