  • snowflake youtube works kinda well with this song!

  • Why are we talking about archdukes??

  • Why the hell are we

  • Sarajevo, For anyone who does no know, is the town that the serbian archduke franzferdinad was assassinated in. Which, according to many historians, sparked WW1

  • @sicilianoXassassinoX

The SERBIAN archduke franzferdinad? Does that sound Serbian at all to you? He was Austrian.

  • @sicilianoXassassinoX A Serbian (CETNIK) named Gavrilo Princip was the one that killed the Archduke.

  • Amazing !

  • The amazing soprano belongs to Sarah Leonard.

  • My dear love, my dear love, my dear love, my dear love ... .

i can feel the agony the pain the beauty and the love ...

  • I don't know what I should write here about this song :( Shock !

  • Generator of cliches that work. Skills undeniable, but....

  • The name of the soprano is Sarah Leonard... It's amazing how she can portrait true grief in such a convincing way.

  • Who the hell is this artist, really great work....

  • That screaming sound - is it a human voice or a violin?

  • @les777pl a human voice FOR SURE.

  • @les777pl I've always wondered that myself. Near the middle it definitely sounds like an instrument, but near the end and beginning it sounds like a human voice. I don't know, but I think it might be a combination of both.

  • @Dianeva89 Nah no combination, that is definately a human soprano. And an amazing one at that!

  • This song is to short ! Epic!

  • now i know what song will play at my funeral

  • wow such a masterpiece wrenches out ur very soul!!!!

  • The more I hear from Max the more I discover new beautiful sounds and melodies

  • MASTERPIECE!!!!

  • OMG!!!! I wasnt expecting that, this is a fantastic piece of music.

  • My first post decided not to work. Anyway...If I were making a horror/suspense movie or game, this would be the guy to write the music. All of his music is haunting, slightly disturbing, but unbelievable beautiful.

  • If I were to make a suspense/horror movie or game, this is the guy that would be q

  • Simplement magnifique....

  • Thats the forgotten Pain of Bosnia.

Dont forgett that serbia killed tousends of Bosnian Civilians.

  • @HouseWhoore That was unnecessary. Listen to the music and leave politics out of it.

  • mehmeh FTW!!!

  • I wish I could express in words my feelings like some people here.

  • FREE THE SWEDEN TWO!

  • Voice sounds like crying...This is masterpiece

  • I could march to war to this music, to a war I knew nothing about, with a weapon i could not use. Whether I believed or not in the cause. This makes me think with my blood.

  • Degenerates, all of you.

  • Beautiful

  • i don't think i've seen another video with as many as 200 likes but 0 dislikes

  • She says My Dear Love, two or three times.

  • Does anyone know what the woman says in the absolute beginning? I heard it again in another max richter album

  • @decade03 She Says My Dear Love, two or three times.

  • @decade03 She Says" My Dear Love", two or three times.

  • This music fits really well with the Trans Siberia Orchestra's "Christmas/ Sarajevo" if anyone is making a playlist of winter music. Also try David Darling and Michael Hoppe.

  • It sounds like pain, destruction and desesperation,

  • @albertkent100 I found that this song sounded more like fighting through the pain and rising above it.

  • I immediately got goosebumps when I first heard this song, it's so mysterious! I love it. ^_^

  • makes you think about all the crimes commited against those poor Bosnians.

brilliant work just like what he did in "Waltz with Bashir".

  • I've been trying to figure out whether the noise is an instrument or a voice for so long. Near the end there's an obvious voice once it gets lower. I guess it's one of them or both, and whatever it is it seems the intention is to make it sound like the other, and you're supposed to wonder.

  • Holy. Shit. I've been waiting for this song my entire life, and I didn't even know it. This is just...amazing. Wow. there aren't enough adjectives to describe it.

  • Does anyone know what instrument the very light tones is?

  • @wombawombawomba It sounds like a harp.

  • Comment removed

  • yes its voice

  • I think it's both voice and a violin alternating. Like the voice goes, and then the violin is next echoing eachother. I can hear the discrepancy, but before I eve read the comments that's what I thought it was.

  • OMG

  • Please someone knows where can i download this song? I love it!

  • Is it violin or voice?

  • @Snezhinka9 Voice.

  • Comment removed

  • @Snezhinka9 I think it's voice but isn't it awesome that we can't tell the difference?

  • Utterly fantastic and breath-taking. I am a new fan of Max after listening to his Memory House CD. Please keep up your postings...they are appreciated!

  • Anyone knows why it's called Sarajevo? Was Richter related with Bosnia in any way?

  • Sympathetic reasons. Many artists used Sarajevo as a reference in various art mediums during the 90s while the city was under siege.

  • @nikolat88

    meaning of the town's name:

Sarajevo is the name originating from the word ''saray'' (Turkish) (emperor's house, court, ruler's palace) the very name of the town meaning field around the court, because the town Sarajevo as well as many Balkan lands was ruled by the Turks for centuries...

    Vesna from Montenegro

  • @mimamimamimamima256

Hvala Vesna :)) Inace rodjen sam u Bosni pa znam, nego me zanimalo sto je nazvao pesmu Sarajevo, mislio sam da je bio tamo ili nesto slicno....Hvala na objasnjenju u svakom slucaju :))

  • how compelling

  • I need to close my eyes... and imagine.

  • any one know where I can find this song?? Ive been looking everywhere...

  • @punkbowprincess What you can do is download a program called Audacity. It records what ever soundis playing on your computer. Just hit record on the program, then play this song. That's the best way I can think of.

  • @hellfrog24 - I've sent you link to Max Richter discography

(youtube don't allow posting links on videos)

there is a better program called "interned download manager IDM" that allows you to save videos from youtube, just google "idm cyber warez" & follow the 1st link.
