@R3dSt4r90 mostly the people from peninsular malaysia use words (nak) for want, but it's not the correct malay. It's a dialect words. Words (Mahu) is the correct way to say want. mostly been use by east malaysia people from sabah and sarawak. Words (ingin) is really a formal words to say want and it's actually a business words.
hi im from enlgand an i moved to malayysia 3 months ago your 4 simple videos have helped me i picked it up very quickly can you please make more videos
Please don't go (tolong jangan pergi). Keep teaching them Malay language (teruskan mengajar mereka Bahasa Melayu). Where are you now? (Dimana kamu sekarang?) please coming back and continue teaching (tolong kembali kesini dan teruskan mengajar).
Kesukaan saya ialah makanan (My favorite is for food)
In Malay, if you add "an" at end of a verb, it becomes noun. E.g. "makan" is "eat", "makanan" is "food". If you add "pe" to "makanan", it becomes "pemakanan" which means "nutrition". "Minum" is "drink" (verb), "minuman" is "drink" (noun) but we don't have "peminuman" in Malay! Some verbs need additions at both ends. "Suka" is "like". Adding "ke" at front & "an" at back creates "kesukaan" which means "favorite"
There is nothing wrong with saying 'Saya nak kereta', but it is best left to informal or in situations where you are familiar with the person you are talking to.
To learn the complete, grammatically-correct way of sentence construction is prior to learning informal Malay.
I am agreed too.... There is no problem with the sentence used.. Same as what beautiful trauma said it is a bit rude.... we should used the full word of nak (hendak) and used the "penjodoh bilangan" :"sebuah" to make the sentence more polite. One more thing for the beginners is think that should learn the way to speak in "bahasa baku" (using actual word reading) than using the "e". This will be easier for them to read.

it's not
'saya nak kereta'
the phrase is quite rude because your hesitating when you're saying it. It should be
'Saya hendak sebuah kereta'.
nak is the short form of hendak and sebuah is the grouping for objects like 'kereta'.Sry no offence
88xboyx88 3 years ago
Agreed :)
There is nothing wrong with saying 'Saya nak kereta', but it is best left to informal or in situations where you are familiar with the person you are talking to.
To learn the complete, grammatically-correct way of sentence construction is prior to learning informal Malay.
So 'I want a car' is: Saya hendak sebuah kereta.
Other than that, very good tutorial. Keep it up.
