  • I tried this fly today, I cautch two fish, and a lot of biting fish.

  • Thank you Davie!

  • Great fly davie

I notice you favour uni 8/0 thread in a lot of your patterns, I've just had a slight problem with the 8/0 thread in that it some times unravels off the spool catchin in the arms of the bobbin holder. I thouht the tension in the thread might be the problem so i opened the arm slightly. Could you please recommend how i could fix this.

    Many thanks again.......

  • Hi donegalflyfisher,

    Glad you liked the fly..

I'm not sure what happened to my last reply to your question so I hope this works. The main reason the thread does this is simple, there's too much thread on the 200 yard spools, even if it was put on much tighter it would still ripple to the sides and on to the arms of the bobbin much like many of mine have done. The only way would be to have spools of thread with no more than 100yards on them.

    All the best Davie

Flat Tinsel for Tying a Pheasant Tail Buzzer (Midge) by Davie McPhail.what size please of tinsle

  • Outstanding! As always!

  • Very nice pattern, I like it!

What is the best way to fish with a Buzzer?

    Willem

  • Hi Willem,

I mostly fish from the bank so when I can I would always fish into the wind allowing the Buzzers to drift naturally towards me but I would also give it an odd twitch and flick of the rod giving the Buzzer a wee bit more life, most of the time this would trigger a fish to have a go.

    All the best Davie

  • Preciosa mosca Davie, gracias.
