Is there a way to trigger skyports with Sekonic products? I know it has a built-in PW but I'm looking for a way to wirelessly trigger Elinchrom lights without having to use a sync cord or another skyport transmitter...just the light meter itself.
This product has the worst user manual I have seen in my life. Why can't people write manuals? These videos also lack information for users. I suppose we are stuck with a gadget we can not use.
I agree that a user manual should accompany the instruction manual. Please note the video are just "Quick Tours" and not full educational productions. Sekonic is working on full educational video and they will be published soon. Until then, I'm happy to help you via e-mail, Skype or phone.
@Inovanti I would be very interested in more training material for the light meters. I also have found the manual to be very unhelpful. When will these videos be available?

I really don't couldn't figure out how to trigger my studio strobe kits. using the Sekonic L-758DR to test the flash exposure. I have the flex TT5 connected to the studio strobe units(not on a speedflash) I tried pressing the test flash button on the Sekonic L-758DR.. Some reason it doesn't work.. I'm not sure if i'm doing anything wrong.. I have the same channel and the Sekonic L-758DR set up on the MiniTTI locationed on my hot shoe and the FLEX TT5 on the studio strobe unit..
The new ControlTL triggering signal from the MINITT1 and FLEXTT5 are not compatible with the Sekonic wireless meters yet. If you want to trigger your Flex TT5 with your Sekonic wireless meter, you'll need to set the FlexTT5 (using the PocketWizard Utility software) to receive only standard triggering signals and not ControlTL signals. Also please not, the MiniTT1 is only a Transmitter. It can not receive any radio triggering signals.
In addition, the MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 (when used as a Transmitter) send both standard and ControlTL triggering signals at the same time. So you can trigger a speedlite (in TTL mode) and a basic flash (manual mode) at the same time.
I have the L758 D and at the moment it serves a purpose as a very flashy paperweight until I can find step by step instructions on how to master it properly but I'm damned if I can find anything on here.
Sorry to hear that but the intention of the video was a quick tour of the L-758DR. It would be impossible to provide a complete instructional video of what the L-758DR can do in a 8 minute Youtube video. However, I agree that a more indepth and longer video is needed. When funding is available from Sekonic we will be happy to produce the video you're looking for. In the meantime, can we help you with any questions you may have regarding the L-758DR?
as hours spent puzzling out its intricacies rendered not the least advance in my grasp of the thing. I understand that in my position I can't afford to eschew use of professional, highly specialised equipment - nor am I willing to - but your lightmeters but the most primitive models - require a long and laborious learning curve. I'm positive there are quite a few who, like me, have resorted to use of simple integrated metering systems (e.g., in-camera meters) Still, thanks for the video
Thank you for the video. However, if you allow, this is not an "instructional Video", but rather a very, very general summarisation of the property set of the lightmeter. I'd much rather that you post a proper in-depth tutorial instead of announcing the capabilities of the device. As both a Filmmaker and a Photographer, I once bought a Sekonic L-758-Cine - yes, your priciest and most complex light meter thus far - in the hope to utilise the thing, but haven't used it once
I agree with you! This video is a product overview. We created this video as a quick tour of the L-758DR. Our plan was to create a 60 minute video, that was more indepth. Due to financial challeges that have effected many photographic manufacturers the project has been put on hold. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about the L-758DR, we're always glad to help.
