Does anyone remember an Aussie gun reviewer who owned on of these on YouTube? He had a full on man cave full of guns. Recently went on a EU trip with his wife and made a vlog about it. I've seen quite a few people at my local range wearing DPM and ACU kit. Both of our countries have the same freedoms, and everyone in the UK has the right to a shotgun - at least - but, obviously, some people aren't really into the whole 'freedom' thing.

Looks like you boys are having a lot of fun. Not sure about your beret, look a bit 'Dogs of War', British berets are not worn like that and the badge looks to be the wrong type.
The Australian Army picked these up in 1957 originally and they were still using them when I left the Army in 1992. Although by that time the change over to the austeyr was already in full swing. I really liked my old SLR it was tough and easy to look after

I'm a civilian, you're a civilian. Why are you wearing that uniform? I think it would be a great error to mistake the past time, or sport, of civilian marksmanship (not that you're likely to be described as a marksman on the above evidence) with military shooting. There are many people who manage to shoot perfectly comfortably not wearing any DPM whatsoever, and there are people with extensive collections of military hardware who manage not to confuse themselves with the soldiers they aren't.

@kingster20 normally I would agree had i not heard it from 2 other soldiers who were in his unit and his C.O but what i do know from speaking to my dads 3 brothers who served with him was that my father was one of a group who often performed field modifications to some of their weapons including enabling the SLR to be fired in full auto without having to break the rifle apart
The easiest way is to use the plastic ring from a 2 Litre milk bottle screw lid, cut and flatten it out, and place it below the slide, above the selector sear...it will go for about 15 rounds then melt.
For a permanent solution, file the selector pin grove as wide as you can get it....but i dont recommend or endorse it.
You dont need to change the gas piston, but your spring will wear prematurely.
I don't know about the uniform wearing and all that- BUT this is the best l1a1 shooting vid ive seen on youtube thus far and for that I sure do appreciate it! @igsau688 one of 126 guns in my collection had a couple romanian made ones but they felt horrible when shooting,the SLR is ALOT better-smoother. Red jacket makes a full auto 12ga saiga that is also very smooth like the SLR-pop the drum mag on it and it's alot of fun
firstly that cant be an l1a1 australia and newzealand destroyed thiers and the british armories keep themm in reserve.so youve got a FAL mech in a SLR body because they dont exist in civilian hands (unless there deacts)
secondly that is an blade and wings so your going to have to take that of your beret.

One other thing, you don't use berets? Check out the US Army Blue Class "A" Service Uniform, and the US Army Blue Class "B" Service Uniform, and the ASU Class "A" and "B" uniforms. You actually use more berets than us.

@sniptilla US troops didn't see battle in WW1 until 1918, even then they were pretty ineffective. WW1 was won by the Royal Navy blockade on Germany, the British commonwhealth and French infantry.
As for WW2, the Lend lease wasn't signed by roosevelt until March 1941, even then we didn't start receiving goods until november 1941, a year and a half after the Battle of Britain. By the way we paid for every single bolt and Bullet.

7.62mm x51 NATO ball L2A2, its the same ammunition used by all our 7.62mm, the ammunition isn't specifically Bren gun, if you want you can get a Bren gun magazine thats takes 30 rounds, but you'd have to stretch the spring to bring it up to scratch for the SLR as the bren gun uses gravity to feed it.
@Badgerbitesback I guess he was just lucky, it was standard practice when my dad served to make sure there were no feed issues, if you read through every squaddies feelings on an SLR you'll probably find most say the same about the springs, but like i said, probabaly your friend was just a jammy sod lol.

I've seen quite a few people at my local range wearing DPM and ACU kit. Both of our countries have the same freedoms, and everyone in the UK has the right to a shotgun - at least - but, obviously, some people aren't really into the whole 'freedom' thing.
Also, don't bash airsoft; it was the main reason I passed my weapons handling test. Haha.

The Australian Army picked these up in 1957 originally and they were still using them when I left the Army in 1992. Although by that time the change over to the austeyr was already in full swing. I really liked my old SLR it was tough and easy to look after

I'm a civilian, you're a civilian. Why are you wearing that uniform? I think it would be a great error to mistake the past time, or sport, of civilian marksmanship (not that you're likely to be described as a marksman on the above evidence) with military shooting. There are many people who manage to shoot perfectly comfortably not wearing any DPM whatsoever, and there are people with extensive collections of military hardware who manage not to confuse themselves with the soldiers they aren't.

@kingster20 normally I would agree had i not heard it from 2 other soldiers who were in his unit and his C.O but what i do know from speaking to my dads 3 brothers who served with him was that my father was one of a group who often performed field modifications to some of their weapons including enabling the SLR to be fired in full auto without having to break the rifle apart

The easiest way is to use the plastic ring from a 2 Litre milk bottle screw lid, cut and flatten it out, and place it below the slide, above the selector sear...it will go for about 15 rounds then melt.
For a permanent solution, file the selector pin grove as wide as you can get it....but i dont recommend or endorse it.
You dont need to change the gas piston, but your spring will wear prematurely.

@igsau688 one of 126 guns in my collection had a couple romanian made ones but they felt horrible when shooting,the SLR is ALOT better-smoother. Red jacket makes a full auto 12ga saiga that is also very smooth like the SLR-pop the drum mag on it and it's alot of fun

@sniptilla US troops didn't see battle in WW1 until 1918, even then they were pretty ineffective. WW1 was won by the Royal Navy blockade on Germany, the British commonwhealth and French infantry.
As for WW2, the Lend lease wasn't signed by roosevelt until March 1941, even then we didn't start receiving goods until november 1941, a year and a half after the Battle of Britain. By the way we paid for every single bolt and Bullet.

7.62mm x51 NATO ball L2A2, its the same ammunition used by all our 7.62mm, the ammunition isn't specifically Bren gun, if you want you can get a Bren gun magazine thats takes 30 rounds, but you'd have to stretch the spring to bring it up to scratch for the SLR as the bren gun uses gravity to feed it.

@Badgerbitesback , The springs are fine as they are. My Aussie friend had Bren mags for his FN in Vietnam and never had any feed problems.

@Badgerbitesback I guess he was just lucky, it was standard practice when my dad served to make sure there were no feed issues, if you read through every squaddies feelings on an SLR you'll probably find most say the same about the springs, but like i said, probabaly your friend was just a jammy sod lol.

@sum12see I like the video, and can see it is homage to the SAS, but he needs to pull the badge halfway across his left temple and pull the fold forward and right so it looks better (that's the way the Brits wear berets anyway)
Anyway asides from the beret blooper, I thought it was a good vid, I want one (but can only have strightpull here in the UK) And I must admit I do like the wooden furniture, we used to have it but they were all coverted to shockproof plastic. Beautiful rifle.
