Sullivan's Travels Diner scene, where she turns around, her hair falling over her one eye, her peerlessly beautiful face stealing the scene, and her cool delivery of dialogue, leave you holding your jaw with both hands! What a looker! Her comedic timing is also breath-taking. She makes Monroe look decidedly benign. Now for the playback of that slap....

I love this movie. Paluette Goddard has such snappy dialogue, but Veronica Lake's grenade scene is the best. Not your average "glamor" scene, but so very intense and powerful.

Nothing to do with factory workers gang. The reason Veronica's hair is pulled back is because she was conforming to military regulations. When on duty, nurses hair had to be no longer than their collar and bangs could not fall in front of their face or interfere with vision. Paulette's hair conforms to reg in length - barely, and barbara's hair is fine at shoulder-length as long as she's not in uniform - otherwize, it should be above the collar. ;)

Veronica may have been difficult to work with but she was an excellent actress who could portray genuine emotion. She stole every scene she was in with a smoldering sensuality. By far the most glamorous, beautiful actress ever.

the girl who found the locket is barbara britton...a very very beautiful gal.  she went on to star in the mr. north television series. as for veronica lakes trouble...was not menstration....her hair was very long...and the gals who worked in assemblies got there tresses caught in the machines. wise gov. decision but she only tied it. see ya confused

during the filming veronica lake had to halt the production because of medical disorder.....they say that contributed alot to her behavior in filming. but look at her....what stat quality gees

In the short period of time that Veronica Lake was a star, only 8 years! She has lived on, not only through that fabulous hairstyle but by some wonderful movies! Sullivan Travels, I married A Witch, This Gun For Hire, The Glass Key, So Proudly We Hail, and The Blue Dahlia. There would have been no Lauren Bacall, Lizabeth Scott, Ellas Raines, if not for Lake. She was difficult, (Bipolar disorder) and her drinking didn't help. But what a gorgeous unique woman!!

paulette goddard was 32...claudette colbert 40...and veronica lake 24.. veronica during production was rushed to hospital.......women trouble....paulette and claudette fued through the whole film.....miss goddard earned a well diserved oscar bid...and miss lake was asked by gov. to tie her hair in a bun...women all over usa were getting their hair caught in war machinery. watta film.

Since this film was about the war, the U.S. government wanted Veronica Lake to have her 'peek-a-boo bang' tied up because most women who were working in the war factories wore their hair in a 'peek a boo bang'. And because of the hair style, accidents were very common with hair getting caught in the machinery.

omg mr. clyde...im going crazy. so proudly we hail is my all time favorite movie of all times. honest i saw it 16 times. i have the dvd..but wanted so much to see it on you tubes. you did that for me sir...and im really grateful. if possible one day can you copy the scen where paulette goddard says her last goodbye to sonny tufts at the end. btw i own one of the nurse uniform worn by miss goddard in the film. again clyde ty so much.

Yes. She ripped the locket off of Goddard. They had mistakenly taken it from Lake's purse.  It was given to her by the boyfriend she was talking about in the second clip.
