@AndDown Son, not only amI an OLD HEAD, but I'm damn near a Maze oficionato. This song is supposed to be a laid back feel good song. The tempo of the "original" should be somewhere around 90 beats a minute. SU is playing at around 120 beats a minute. That's way too fast. JSU plays the song around 80 beats a minute. Coincidentally, the live Maze version of this song is sung at around 86 beats a minute. You can shake your head all you want but that's all fact.

This version was orginally for the field. That's why it's uptempo. It just so happen to make it to the stands, also. Either way...it's written a he!lava-lot better than JSt's.

Second, if you don't go to a MEAC school how would you even KNOW what they would 'know'. If anything, they would 'know' a lot more about contrasting styles and musicianship than people like YOU who shut themselves out from things they aren't used to. For anybody dumb enough to think a camcorder won't make a band sound a hot mess, you are out of your mind. Especially considering how primitive the audio recording on most camcorders is. That's why it's called an ARRANGEMENT...The arranger wanted the song to have a driving feel to be used on the FIELD as a drill song. I like both SU and JSU versions. I think that SU's execution is BETTER and MUCH CLEANER

1. Su's is louder on the parts when the bones/b-tone's phrasing warrants it (around the 1:20 mark) 2. JSU's arrangment is nicer and overall execution is better. The mellos part in JSU arrangment put the icing on the cake for me. The intensity builds all through the song and just climaxes in the last few measures. GOOD JOB BY BOTH, but my scale tips in favor of JSU overall.
