haha well you look like a good rider based on this video :) i'm showing in novice even though i've been riding for 6 years because my horse isn't ready to show at the canter, and i'm not super experienced with shows ;)
Thanks lol This was last year (2006-2007) and I use a different horse now but we've actually gotten alot better. I look back at this video all the time and cringe at everything I did wrong... it kills me lol My first year was better than this year tho. With Cysco I got mostly firsts and seconds which was awesome but Im using Penny who's in green horse and she was way to... green haha She HATES showing with a passion so Im thinking about putting Penny in gaming and Cysco in western.
I was reading some of the earlier comments and you mentioned that she normally bucks when she lopes. Just a thought- i noticed your saddle looks like it kinda sits far back on her and it doesn't look like it fits her very well, so maybe she bucks because it hurts. But i could be wrong she may just be being naughty. Nice job though on your first year-even though it was last year:)
Yup our club has a show at Reber every year =) All the pics are from last year so it was after they got the covored arena... you're talking about arena infront of the big outdoor one right?
wow, great video! When the judge was walking around your horse, did she give him a treat? I've never seen a judge actually touch the horse. Why were you holding on to the pommel while cantering? One time I did that, i got yelled at got they threatened me that they would disqualify me. Very nice though, I LOVE your horse! HE's very pretty!
Actually Cysco's a she lol =) No the judge didn't give her a treat, they touch them becuase in 4-H your horse is supposed to be so sound that the judge is able to touch them wherever they want or something. I HAVE to mention this- that is such a bad video of us cantering!!! Cysco NORMALLY bucks whenever she canters, so I was just expecting it ya know lol but she was on the wrong lead so I was all over the place... and yeah I don't like that clip lol
Lol thanks. Yeah Cysco was really easy to work with since she is a been there done that horse. We mostly got thrids last year, we seemed to get alot better placings in trail (mostly 2nds out of about 10 riders), and at the end o the video I show our placings for the fair but it's a little hard to read. But we got 3rd, 2nd and then Grand Champion in Trail =) Thanks again
I have actually always wanted a buckskin but I never thought I'd own one becuase they are more expensive than a solid colored horse. But surprisingly i got one for free =) (Long story about me and Cysco)
Thanks =) And she only holds her head that high during showing (of course lol) but it's hard to work on it at home becuase then she holds it right where I want it... so it can be a little confusing to work on
how hard do you think it is to make it to state fair in your first year in KC?
