2:36 if i remember correctly internet was just taking flight. cell phones couldnt even view a web page. and getting emial on your phone was HUGE. at this time. they made the game single player option because of people with NO internet.
Shut down addons. Playing casually is impossible end game when everyone is obsessed with spreadsheets and numbers, it makes casual player too much of a hassle.

Diablo is so simple that even a retard can be good at it. It is fun, but it is not a competitive game. Inferno can be done solo. So basically, if you say that you NEED addons in this game, it means you are a WoW retard most probably...

The other thing about the real-money AH is that spoiled kids will think/learn that if you have money, you can always win and that you dont have to work or fight for anything as long as you have money. @eyezon1975 It's really hard,nearly impossible :) I am a MMORPG fan and this is the exact same reason why I can't find a good MMORPG,because all of them are either p2w(pay to win) or addressed to the PvE community(I'm a huge PvP fan).And things won't change because most of the MMORPG players are PvEers and also a lot will pay a great deal of money to get stuff.So,yeah.Profit is ALL the developers are after always.It is sad though,I miss the old days.
The point of forcing players to be connected to servers when playing single player is not to prevent piracy but to allow items earned in single player to be traded in the auction house. Without a server to verify what drops you get, people would be able to edit their character data to create fake items and statistics. This would also mean that it would be impossible to play multiplayer with the same character you have in singleplayer. And then there would be no reason to play singleplayer.

you FUCKIN idiots, The only online mode is to prevent using hacks. Because DIABLO 3 is mostly a PVE game and you get Gear in single player. So i don't think u fuckin moron would enjoy other people getting gear in offline mode and then selling them on RMAH, Destroying you in PvP etc. Think outside the fuckin box! The pirate version can suck my dick, they cannot use RMAH, PvP or etc.
the auction house isnt even a for sure thing if might be taken down like what happened in korea. if you dont know korea banned RMA becuase it went against the gambling laws.
And for the single player issues, if you play single player ... just don't bother buying games there is literally no point. And if you don't have internet, you wont be reading this so GG on that one.
The thing is, in Diablo2 .. if you played it more than just casually online. You bought and sold to 3rd party sites. This auction house is only making what has been there "Secure". Sometimes dealing with those 3rd party sites was sketchy. Now you are using a risk free way of buying and selling. Those against this idea probably never played D2 or didn't play it enough. This auction house has me excited.

i don't agree about your opinion on the RMAH. because even without the RMAH there WILL be people buying and selling gear for real money, this happens in ALL mayor MMOs. Blizzard just doesn't want to spend endless hours of solving problems for people who get scammed by 3rd party sellers and such and therefore they offer a legal and safe way to do it. and if you buy or sell outside of the RMAH then it's your own problem if you get scammed.

It almost seems like the 2 talking here never even touched diablo 2. 1) There was no legal addon for Diablo 2, you were stuck with the UI and D2 was still extremely successful. You don't need a friggin DPS meter to go do Baal or Chaos runs in d2 do you? and 2) Buying items unbalances the scales for ladders, HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED DIABLO 2, 500 msgs from websites selling diablo items the second you create a game, want to know why? *part1

@TheRexxinator The only thing I have against the AH is it takes a huge strike to real trading, which is one of the main reasons I still play D2. Start with a couple HRs make some trades next thing you know you got a godly character because you made some smart trades. I agree, making it unmoddable is a kick in the face of the fans. I'd love to see a rpg using the diablo3 game engine. Something like an icewindale 3 or even a new baldurs gate would look very sharpe with this game engine!

Its not really surprising though. they basically charted out how much income theyd lose because theyre going to lose wow players to d3, and said well, how are we going to make up for this loss of revenue without charging per month? Simple. Add a real life cash system and take a percentage of each transaction. It will likely make them more money than wow even makes them. Shame on you blizzard. The reason it requires you to be online isn't just because of pirates it because the game is an online game! You wouldn't say shit about WoW because you have to play online would you? All loot is generated and registered on there servers or people could just use 3rd party hacks offline and put them on the real money AH etc! Yes blizzard could of made offline mode completely separate to online but they have moved on from crappy offline games :P

if you think of it this way guys... when diablo3 comes out no one is going to have any thing the game is random every thing is random the ammount of gold you make and the ammount of items you get the gold ah is going to even out to the price of the real money ah so say 100 gold is 5 bucks you pay 5 bucks for an axe of greed and you can also pay with Gold its gonna be fine sure every ones gonna try to get real cash but they will learn the hard way when all the items dont sell they put up and pay
i used zero mods for wow and i completed all raids i have ever done 10-25 20-40 mans played in classic wow beta all you gotta do is look around and know whats going on played a tank main tanked bosses and offtanked deathknight/warrior here
Been playing this for a little while now, I'm really on the fence with this game. It's so well polished down to the perfect animation details that you won't see the faults. I see the game as being more of an addicting grind machine simply because of how it tricks you into thinking it's actually enjoyable, when in reality it's just the colors and the flashes and the environments making it feel better than it really is. The gameplay feels identical to Titan Quest. Strange game, undecided.
i didnt know Owen was a gamer. that would be hella cool playing a video game with one of the best actors out there. Wedding crashers is the shit! lol stay up Wilson and keep doing what your doing! Raising the bar with your acting must be one of the best rewarding feelings.
The reason there are no mods is because those were based on an open WoW-API system. And it was REALLY easy to code bots and other hacks using that. Blizzard is making the game closed to avoid this. And most likely will make the whole system they use for Diablo 3 totally protected from any access by giving you instant bans when the server recognizes something different with the files or where its accessed from.
If blizzard is successful it would make for a hack free game. Its a doubleedge sword.
And about you not having access to some in-game features here`s the deal , i have not seen meany wow hardcore in-game content maybe just because i work more to earn MONEY and not spend half my life playing a game but i spend the same about of money so i believe i have the same right as the guy that spends 20 hour a day on that game
About the real money action house , here`s the deal pro ppl will by selling items so unless they fall from the sky in the AH ppl will not by able to have better gear be-four ppl ho actually farm them and even if they do is going to by the gamer choice to sell the item and not use it ,
SC 2 was the same i have bough an original copy of the game ofc but tbh i have got it cracked like 1 -2 days befour it delivered to me just do do missions so ye .... if ppl what to buy it they will if not then there is little u can do about that special for a game like this , i for one will try to buy a collection pack even ^^

I know this is how it is, I'm just saying it's wrong and we as consumers shouldnt condone this, but try to change it for the better. Just saying, this is how it always was and is doesent make it right in any way shape or form. I play WoW and other games where real money can give the edge, so I know how the world works both on- and offline.

@eyezon1975 Oh,I see.But still,you can't change the world.A lot of people want to buy their items and the developers are all about profit so it's highly unlikely that we can change their minds.Besides,someone has to get the items first before they can sell them(and most likely the first item they get they will keep for themselves and only start selling them from the 2nd one) so no one will be 'decked out' at least for the first few months.And by that time most ppl will be DO anyway.

It's just really sad that thats the way it is. But it's an easy fix ;-) just re-prioritise from profit to responsebility and quality. How hard can that be. ;-)

@eyezon1975 It's really hard,nearly impossible :) I am a MMORPG fan and this is the exact same reason why I can't find a good MMORPG,because all of them are either p2w(pay to win) or addressed to the PvE community(I'm a huge PvP fan).And things won't change because most of the MMORPG players are PvEers and also a lot will pay a great deal of money to get stuff.So,yeah.Profit is ALL the developers are after always.It is sad though,I miss the old days.

The point of forcing players to be connected to servers when playing single player is not to prevent piracy but to allow items earned in single player to be traded in the auction house. Without a server to verify what drops you get, people would be able to edit their character data to create fake items and statistics. This would also mean that it would be impossible to play multiplayer with the same character you have in singleplayer. And then there would be no reason to play singleplayer.

you FUCKIN idiots, The only online mode is to prevent using hacks. Because DIABLO 3 is mostly a PVE game and you get Gear in single player. So i don't think u fuckin moron would enjoy other people getting gear in offline mode and then selling them on RMAH, Destroying you in PvP etc. Think outside the fuckin box! The pirate version can suck my dick, they cannot use RMAH, PvP or etc.

The thing is, in Diablo2 .. if you played it more than just casually online. You bought and sold to 3rd party sites. This auction house is only making what has been there "Secure". Sometimes dealing with those 3rd party sites was sketchy. Now you are using a risk free way of buying and selling. Those against this idea probably never played D2 or didn't play it enough. This auction house has me excited.

i don't agree about your opinion on the RMAH. because even without the RMAH there WILL be people buying and selling gear for real money, this happens in ALL mayor MMOs. Blizzard just doesn't want to spend endless hours of solving problems for people who get scammed by 3rd party sellers and such and therefore they offer a legal and safe way to do it. and if you buy or sell outside of the RMAH then it's your own problem if you get scammed.

This is a bunch of MMORPG players trying to debate on diablo. It almost seems like the 2 talking here never even touched diablo 2. 1) There was no legal addon for Diablo 2, you were stuck with the UI and D2 was still extremely successful. You don't need a friggin DPS meter to go do Baal or Chaos runs in d2 do you? and 2) Buying items unbalances the scales for ladders, HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED DIABLO 2, 500 msgs from websites selling diablo items the second you create a game, want to know why? *part1

Start with a couple HRs make some trades next thing you know you got a godly character because you made some smart trades. pretty sad that theres going to be a real life cash system. Its not really surprising though. they basically charted out how much income theyd lose because theyre going to lose wow players to d3, and said well, how are we going to make up for this loss of revenue without charging per month? Simple. Add a real life cash system and take a percentage of each transaction. It will likely make them more money than wow even makes them. Shame on you blizzard. The reason it requires you to be online isn't just because of pirates it because the game is an online game! You wouldn't say shit about WoW because you have to play online would you? All loot is generated and registered on there servers or people could just use 3rd party hacks offline and put them on the real money AH etc! Yes blizzard could of made offline mode completely separate to online but they have moved on from crappy offline games :P

Been playing this for a little while now, I'm really on the fence with this game. It's so well polished down to the perfect animation details that you won't see the faults. I see the game as being more of an addicting grind machine simply because of how it tricks you into thinking it's actually enjoyable, when in reality it's just the colors and the flashes and the environments making it feel better than it really is. The gameplay feels identical to Titan Quest. Strange game, undecided.

The reason there are no mods is because those were based on an open WoW-API system. And it was REALLY easy to code bots and other hacks using that. Blizzard is making the game closed to avoid this. And most likely will make the whole system they use for Diablo 3 totally protected from any access by giving you instant bans when the server recognizes something different with the files or where its accessed from.
If blizzard is successful it would make for a hack free game. Its a doubleedge sword.
