  • why do your ollies look funny? no offence

  • @1080portal I guess it looks that way because I force my ollies to be that high; these aren't my normal relaxed ollies. I force them to be that high to show that I know what I am talking about.

  • thank you!

  • @ThatKidOverThere1234 no probs man!

  • best ollie video ever thx

  • @colmanw99 no probs!

  • probably the best video out there. thanks

  • @Epiphone087 thanks dude! =]

  • i can ollie about 5 decks should i move on ive been fustrated on getting it higher for a week

  • @Diedhard 5 decks is pretty good, if you aren't having much fun with it you should move on if ya like. It's all up to you.

  • @slowmomike im new to skating and i want to move on idk why i havnt yet lol but i guess i will but my ollies have also been pretty low today could it be cause i mesesed my shoes up to bad? cause i did tear them up

  • @Diedhard if they are moderately torn it shouldn't affect it that much, if you have no more grip anymore or the actual sock is in contact with the board when you do ollie, then that's when you have a problem =P

  • @slowmomike ok thanks :D

  • KROOKED BOARD!!??!!

  • @FIERCEJOLT indeedski!

  • @slowmomike epic!! that's the next next board im getting!

  • @FIERCEJOLT aye good choice, gotta love DLX stuff

  • @slowmomike yup!

  • My first day of doing an ollie and I cant tell if Im doing it right! >.<

  • @HomieLupe well umm, I'm not gonna be able to tell if you are doing it right either =P haha

  • is the pop and the jump the same thing?

  • @1080portal nah

popping - when your tail smacks the ground

jumping - exactly what you think it is, just jumping off the board

You do them both at the same time though

  • i like videos like this..it shows that when you struggled no one helped but yourself & you know how you felt to suck in the beginning that you couldn't do ollies. I sucked & still suck but hey we have to learn some how :D

  • @MAJIK3592 definitely, I know what all of you went through. Just trying to make the process a little easier =P

  • @slowmomike that's wassup! mad props to you bro & thanks for helping out the beginners :D

  • @MAJIK3592 my pleasure =]

  • When I try to slide my foot, it doesn't slide well and it leaves white streaks. Yes, I'm using skate shoes D:

  • @GoldRose829 hmmm... sounds like you are using new shoes then?

If it is, you just gotta break em in, I usually play a game of basketball with my friends when I want to break in new skate shoes.

  • but like before that i was getting it just fine like i was doing really really good...

  • @REVO82J I've actually had problems just like that where I'd learn a trick and I'd just loose it the next day, yeah it's pretty frustrating. The secret is to not expect so much out of yourself and just have fun. Your mood definitely effects how you skate.

Skateboarding is about enjoying the process of learning, not the result. Which can actually be applied to real-life as well now that I think about it.

Just some things to consider in your skating endeavors

    Have fun, don't worry

  • ok i took a 2day break like i said and i couldent ollie next day i try it again still cnst is it cuz im tired idk man u got any ideas.....

  • @REVO82J practice practice practice my man! Skateboarding is the definition of difficult haha.

Took me a good 3 months straight for me to learn how to ollie

  • that i know but what if u have a tool???

  • @REVO82J Well just put the bearing in the wheel and press it in, fairly straight forward

  • ok i bought some new bearings an i need to put em on meh board any ideas how to get em on.....????????

  • @REVO82J if you don't have a tool, then just put a bearing through the axle of your truck, then put a wheel on the axle of your truck, push down, and you should be able to press the bearing into your wheels

  • @slowmomike well that explains alot :P :3

  • is it possible for ur legs to be tired....

  • @REVO82J uh... yeah =P

    haha

  • this doesn't have anything to do with ollies, but have you skated sk8 hi's?

  • @TERRORDACTYL667 nah, I haven't. I'm sure they are fine to skate with though

  • @slowmomike ture, i may get those old schools, or tnt 5's next, im not sure though

  • @TERRORDACTYL667 hah, do whatever you want, no one is stopping you

  • @slowmomike :3 practice

  • @slowmomike

it took me 2weeks and i still practice it:/

  • @REVO82J good, practice practice practice!

  • yeah i practice for an hour a day

  • @REVO82J yeah, just keep at it and you should be fine

hey, it took me 3 months to get my first ollie

  • ok yesterday i went skate boarding and i couldent even get my board off the ground like the day before yesterday...... does that mean im tired cuz i felt like complete sh!t when went back inside then i was knocked out and woke up at 6am.....

  • @REVO82J yeah, don't work yourself out too much. Once you reach to a certain point, you will be so tired that practicing is just useless. Take your time

  • hi

  • Pretty ballsy to an ollie trick tip. A thing I feel you forgot to mention:

The hight of your trucks can have a huge influence on where to put the backfoot

    Tip for more Controll:

When you prepare to ollie, in your mind you should already try to drag your front foot

What helped me to get more height:

Abandon the golden beginner rule and slightly angle your shoulder, which also allows to angle the front foot a little more. You will trade controll vs raw power first, but for me it helped alot.

  • @Qualia Thanks. And about the trucks, I've ridden all heights and where I put my back foot is always the same - the very edge of the board =X

And I'm pretty sure I mentioned the whole pop, jump, and drag preparation before the ollie in the video, though I agree it should probably be stressed a bit more.

And honestly I'm not so fond about having your shoulders anywhere else but square. I could see a lot of problems emerging from that. But, hey, everyone learns differently

    thanks again

  • @slowmomike No problem, it is a great vid!

About the shoulders, thats why i called it the golen beginner rule. It is a real solid foundation to always keep them square and yes, first you will run into problems if you stop doing that. It is only interresting if you are looking for the last possible inch and for me, it was just a small angle that made some noticable difference.

That was also just something I wanted to share. I don't think you should, nor can include every tip there is^^.

  • @Qualia haha yeah, I should probably put in that people should experiment as well. It sucks that with trick tips comes so much gray area because we aren't all alike =P

I'll try to keep all that in mind next time!

  • @slowmomike Mhh, I think it is awesome that we arn't all alike. xP

  • @Qualia not if you make trick tips =P

  • thats a really old deck, how many years u have it?

  • @meister4ever1 about 8 months, I never had a board last me longer than 4-5 months. Probably because I don't skate as often as I would like to.

  • give me your board...

  • @lmcwarriorr haha why? It's pretty much done with

  • @slowmomike well... its been a month since i ask my dad to buy a board.. so i dont know why i type it in....

  • is it possible practicing the ollie over and over just to get a good pop :3 rawr :P

  • @REVO82J just takes time man, lots of time

  • how do u practice sucking in youre legs?????

  • @REVO82J umm well, just bring your legs into your chest and that's all there is to it =P

  • :3

  • k:3

  • i think ive been doing that...

  • @REVO82J I took a look at your video. You should bring your front foot down to the middle of the board for your ollie stance. And do not be afraid to jump up higher!

  • @slowmomike if my board doesnt make a loud ass sound thats how i know ny back truck dident come off :P

  • @REVO82J heh, just practice sucking your legs into your body? maybe that may help?

  • reason i say idk if im getting air is cuz im on the board:p

  • @REVO82J do you know if your back truck is getting off the ground?

  • i just put more force on my back foot when i do it to get air....

  • yeah i just crouch really low to get air idk if im doing it though:/

  • so i tried t o ollie down a curb and it was hard as hell

  • @BigExplosionGoBoom just takes practice ;-)

  • Nice tips, how many decks can you ollie? Me personally was over 4 decks but i guess i was lucky because now i can't do it anymore.

    Nice video mike!

  • @lipslide101 The most I've ever done was 5 because I don't gotz no more boards with trucks =[ I feel like with a new board I maaayy be able to do 6

    And thanks man!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • @JaviSk8er00 not a problem man =]

  • It's snowy out :(

  • @jhowa182 yeah I just got hit with snow as well, did this all at the right time, haha

  • I have been able to Ollie and bone ollies for a long time know but if I had this when I was learning them it would if made it so much easier and the Ollie without the board thing helped me when I was learning them so I do recommend doing that. Good job mike!

  • @1306skate thanks for the support man =]

I gotta remember that ollie-without-the-board technique if it helped you out, could help some others as well!

  • @slowmomike yea the no board thing also helps with kickflips/heelflips

  • @1306skate mental note! Thank you for the idea =]

  • omg awesome thanks so much

  • @BigExplosionGoBoom no probs man, hope it helps you out

  • @slowmomike ya i just need to get them down moving now thanks man

  • Can I have your beanie? haha

  • @iJustinn No! Muh beanie is too awesome =]

  • good point about not using all your power and focusing on control at first, props dude

  • @havenovideo thanks! And yeah I seem to stress that to a lot of people who I talk to, they just go all out, but you gotta be comfortable =]

  • so how do i ollie on my longboard? lol

  • @puddleFTW I've actually done ollies and kickflips on longboards

    the secret: very carefully

    haha

  • @puddleFTW throw it away and get a skateboard.

  • nice

  • @snowandskatenz thanks man

  • i have really nice and high ollies, but i still watched the whole video hahaha love your vids

  • @coltonr96 haha yeah sorry that some of my tips will be a bit basic =P

    and thanks!

  • @slowmomike still fun to watch

  • hey mike for some reason i ended up being a really big fan of ur vids:3 rawr:33333333

  • @REVO82J haha woah thanks! It means a lot =]

It feels weird having "fans" lul

  • do the same whit the kickflip please !!!

  • @lathulerie207 of course!

It's honestly impossible for me to talk for less than 6 or 7 minutes about a trick.... haha

  • oh dear god please tell me the kickflip trick tip will be as detailed as this one :DD

great job this is really helpfull as it is really detailed and stuff.keep it up

  • @asikdiekosbcrew hahaha don't worry, I will ramble on and on about kickflips. I was surprised that this went on for 9 minutes. Usually I take about 15 minutes to talk about stuff.

  • 2nd commment bitches

  • @TheCookiemonster6969 LIKE A BOSSSSSS

  • You should make one on popping tricks higher that goes into detail

  • @MartySkies It depends on the trick actually =/

  • @slowmomike Well do one for the tricks your gonna tricktip,

  • @MartySkies sure I'll give it a shot
