  • Toon link's level has increased 10 FOLD since this vid was out! Thanks to the glory that is arrow cancelling.

  • lol, the brawl metagame hasn't changed a bit. nothing but camping and spamming safe moves

  • pit is a prime example of the ONLY problem i have with brawl. there are too many characters that scrubs can use to boost their game simply because of an abusable move. I've seen too many lucarios, pits, falcos, foxes, and wolfs played the same way as Amir. It's really annoying to work through someone's lack of skill. Even when I win the match I don't care, cuz the match ended up just pissing me off. And where were the counter picks? FD is a paradise for projectile spammers. (just my opintion.)

  • and another thing... don't think i'm some DSF fanboy. I understand that he used projectiles too. But it was obvious that Amir wanted as least close quarters combat as possible. It seems to me that the best way to come at a camper on FD is to use your projectiles too. Hopefully, the brawl community in general will become more skilled and will discourage matches like these. Cuz campers are starting to abuse the B button like NFL player's wives. (again just my opinion. don't flame me)

  • Don't worry, you have a point. Amir spammed with no purpose. DSF spammed with a purpose. The weak Pit players I see now are at a total loss once they can't use their primary projectile, because they see videos like this and say, "Hey, Amir got to the finals doing this, I can do the same." The videos I see now feature totally different approaches; noobs won't survive as long as before.

  • for anyone that still likes brawl, give it time, and in a year youll see different, dont discourage a new addition to the smash family. this game will have its own techniques, in a year and a half or so, im gonna be afraid at what all of will be doing with metaknight, olimar, pit (i choose him as well), and definitely, for what i believe is the most technical player in the new lineup; as well in smash history, snake.

  • im talking to you, faggot ass HugS

  • Warning. Next comment like that and you're blocked. Calm down.

    --GCII

  • No, you know what, I'm re-reading all of your comments and I'm blocking you now.

    --GCII

  • uhh both were using arrows u guys except that the only projectile pit has are the arrows while toon link has 3 projectiles.

  • amir the champ? more like amir the camp

  • i really dislike the first stock of that pit. it's obvious who had real competitive skill and who was abusing their character's camp ability. both players lightened up towards the end though so nvm.

  • lol camper

  • dick

  • Pit didn't use his shield at ALL. If he did that would have changed the game completly.

  • To be fair, he did sidestep and mirror shield a bit, and he did shield twice when TL was shielding. Seems to happen a lot in pro Smash.

  • r u serious?

  • amir the champ is NOT pro. and this game has only come out a week ago in the states. how do you expect players to be at full melee level is beyond me.

  • YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

    e.g. LOLWUT, SRSLY?, IDKMYBFFJILL, ORLY?

  • This is actually what the competitive level will end up being since there is no pressure or combo game in brawl. Welcome to next-gen smash...

  • ya there r pluses and minuses as far as competitive brawl goes, i liked wavedashing and L-canceling, but this will be a nice change of pace i suppose.

  • you mean almost no pace at all?

  • Finally someone agrees with me.

  • Poor lamers that can't adjust... For shame.

  • I never said anything about my ability to adjust to things. I just stated that the pace was slowed. Don't put words in my mouth.

  • i exited after i saw that this was a 7 min vid with pit

  • GamePlay finals R3 - DSF vs. Amir The Spammer

  • VERY well played by Toon

  • I fear that this will become the metagame later on.

Good job to alex for winning. I hate the way the other guy played, not because it's a bad strategy, but because I can tell by looking at him that he is hardly talented.

  • What an annoying Pit. I hate Pit only because of those arrows. I can't wait to play a good Pit that knows what he's doing.

  • Hm...Is it possible to use the air dodge as a way to counter a pit's constant usage of arrows? I don't have a wii to test it but if you aren't stun-locked by the arrows, couldn't you approach by air-dodging towards them with brawl's redone air-dodge mechanic?

  • i think you can, i never faced a good pit but if you do the same motion as wavedash on brawl it results in a short jump airdodge, i started doin that a few days ago, it helps me fight my friends toon link.

  • why air dodge when you can ground dodge?

  • So you can approach at the same time. If you just dodge on the ground, they can just keep shooting arrows.

  • I HATE PIT'S ARROWS!!!!

My friend spams them the whole time and the only way for me to maybe win is to take Wolf and his reclector -_-

    Aanyway,AWESOME MATCH!

  • DSF got around it.

  • This match makes me not want to play Brawl.

  • omg sexy tech chase at 2:25 DSF is a;ready hella good

  • is this amir the third strike dominator amir? if so go amir! lol...also, only noobs complain about camping, if it works and your opponent can't get around it why not do it? its called using everything you have at your disposal ie play to win

  • No, it's just called a badly made game.

  • yea i do agree that melee is a better game than brawl by far...but thats juss my opinion well and urs too haha

  • Yeah, because it's fair to compare a game that's been out for like a month to a game that's been out for years and years.

  • melee doens't have random-gayass-tripping the end jk neway its juss my opinion if u like brawl by all means keep playing it, i juss felt the need to express my thoughts

  • And I'm just saying... give it a bit of time. There's lots to learn about this game we haven't uncovered yet and the skill level of all players is still really low compared to melee.

  • i don't kno if time will really change my opinion...unless they release a speed-brawl-up patch...my distaste for brawl comes mainly from the change of pace of gameplay, i liked melee because of the fast speed (esp. the ability to use dashdance for fakeouts which is almost compeletely nullified in brawl) im sure there will b many new techniques...but the fact that the game has been slown down so much juss irks me...ok ill stop trolling now

  • I'm the Melee local champ and good at it. Since I played Brawl (only played twice), I don't want to touch melee ever again. It's so much more interesting, and the graphics from Melee seem like SNES in comparison (it really is a factor 'cause the music and visuals give brawl a great atmosphere). Besides everything in Melee to be discovered WAS discovered and there's nothing new to see. And you CAN be good at Brawl and better than other people. It's definitely not bad.

  • Not only are you probably not the local melee champ, but you don't seem to know a whole lot about melee to begin with.

That's all beside the point though, as I agree that Brawl isn't bad. But it isn't great...like melee was.

  • You are allowed to disagree with my opinion, but I was truthful. I know Melee was great, but its gameplay didn't allow new people to get in 'cause they'd never catch up. That couldn't have kept going. Brawl is different, but it's new, it allows new players to easily get in, and I love smash. I still play Melee but I know I'm getting rusty, quickly. I know you're better than me, but you would have seen I'm much better than my previous comment suggested to you, if I would have gotten to play you.

  • It didn't allow new people to get in? Tons of new people came in in the last year of melee, and succeeded in Socal, one of the toughest regions for Melee competition. Ever heard of Mango?

There was a lot left to learn, really. It's indicated by the fact that every tournament had tougher and tougher competition up until the end. But it's cool, difference of opinions.

  • shut the fuck up you conceited bitch. your just pissed because the samus you liked was fucked over in this game. you cant say melee is better than brawl, theyre fuckin equal. and what the fuck gives you the fuckin right to consider whos high/top-tier in your little faggot ass interview at i belive 1-up. and you definitely dont have the right to tell someone what they dont know about melee or any other game, damn faggot.

  • yeah and besides, 1on1 tiers mean nothing, in FFAs everyone is quite equal from what ive played

  • lol 1 on 1 tiers.

  • well its true, 1on1 isnt how its meant to be, of course meta is good 1on1 hes fast, is he good in a FFA where he gets raped by his lightness? nope

    same logic

  • uhh, one on one or anything is where you do what you have to do to win. spamming is no acception.

  • LoL, ignorant idiot. You don't know anything. I defend my points with facts, you just rant.

Seems to me your anger is coming from jealousy. I can't respect people who don't give respect back, or actually do something to earn it. Since you haven't really won anything smash related, I guess I can't do anything but laugh at the joke you are. Maybe i wouldn't look down on you if you could speak intelligently.

    Relax.

  • Wow that Toon Link player is pretty awesome. The Pit player was good, but not as good as Zero.

  • camping. the strategy of champions

  • 3 of link's 4 b-moves are projectiles.

It's not camping, it's called 'using link'

  • Camping is the stradegy of cowards who cant fight for themselves, I mean yeah spamming is good to use once and a while but dont make it your playstyle, He's wasting Pit's good moveset and the only reason DSF starts spamming is because he's tired of Champ getting in his free shots, at least DSF actually fought and raped him.

  • how come when pit uses arrows a lot its called a "spam" but when toon link uses boomerang, bombs, and the bow every 2 seconds continuously its not called "spam" but "strategy"

  • they're both spamming.

  • Because they are 3 different moves. If toon link just shot the arrows people would prolly say spam but since hes using all 3 it seems less spammy and more strategic. and Pit is only using arrows so its considered spam lol.

  • Toon Link has to spam in order to stop the spam of Pit.

  • also, who decided to make a character that can spam while recovering

    -____________________-

  • rofl pit spam is worse than falco's shl in melee

not to mention all he does is shieldcamp/ledgecamp and sit on the ground spamming b

    zz

  • For someone called "The Champ" he sure fights like a coward...

And sure, spamming moves IS a strategy for characters like that... but hanging on the edge when he gets close by cuz you know you suck at fighting close up because all you know how to do is spam B, that's when you suck...

DSF is my hero... I had so much enojoyment watching you kill him...

    Peace...

  • I would get so much enjoyment from watching you play against Champ and not even taking one stock off of him.

  • Wrong Champ.

  • I see pit ate too much Spam that morning, it's all he's thinkin about.

  • brawls most effective moves seem to be rolling and pushing b LOL. dont forget rapid a. thats mad tech skill right there. at least alex is actually trying to space stuff instead of roll away and spam.

  • Nice spacing alex

  • camp mre please!!!

  • damn, a 7:08 4 stock match...

maybe 3 stocks is a better idea

  • The format of 4 stocks came from (I believe) the owner of the store; I don't think he's seen a Brawl tourney before.

    --GCII

  • zzz

  • pit player is so cheap...

  • nice one

  • Yes spam b ftw =D

  • A great reason to dislike brawl <_<

It seems more and more like one giant campfest

    good match DSF

  • ya, because no ones ever seen a Ken/Ryu spam Hadoukens in Street Fighter...

  • I Presencied one...it's annoying.

  • You're comparing Street Fighter to SMASH??? nub.

  • XDDDDD

    good point

  • any character in a fighter that has projectiles camps, its their style of play...

just like he said, ken/ryu spam fireballs...

  • Yes Ryu, not so much Ken since his Hadouken has a longer recovery in later games. Sagat and Guile (especially in Championship Edition) are definitely projectile spammers though.

  • meh it was ok

  • Yeah, 2 - 0 for TL !!!
