I grew up in Pomona and attened Disneyland for the first time in 1960 I remember Frontierland and there are many portions of it that I wish they would bring back....unfortunetly most young people today don't care about the 1800's
ALRITEY!!!! so who's willing to sneak back after park hrs. to dig up some disneys souvenirs!!! anybody??? lol well at least they could have donated to the walt disney museum instead of burying walts design !!!
@ lawlessbocks dude... Disneyland was first. Look it up on google or wiki or something. Disneyland was the first Disney theme park. Trust me. I'm a Disney fanatic...
I wish Nature's Wonderland was still around... It sounds wonderful. And they could have added Kenai and Koda to the bears... That would have made me cry. I love Brother Bear. :') I would have ridden through the bears thinking of that song "Welcome to our family time! Welcome to our brotherly time! We're happy givin' and takin' to the friends we're makin'! Theres nothin' we won't do!". :')
I do have a burning question.... Since the People Movers are gone and so are the Rocket Rods....what's next? It's been a VERY long time since anything was in their place.
@AngieUK065 I KNOW RIGHT! When my friend went in September he said they had walls up on where the tracks are.... so lets cross our fingers that the park is restoring the tracks and we will get People Movers back.... or something like it
I loved hearing about old Disney! I grew up going to Disney when I came to the States in 1969! I remember how the old Disney looked and how "new" it felt. Mom still has some of the ticket coupon books! Totally remember wanting more of the "E" tickets! LOL I also remember taking the train around Natures Wonderland. I also have photos of me on the mule ride :) And I miss the People Movers. Thanks so much for sharing.
nice video, thanks for sharing. My grandparents, aunt and father went to disneyland in 1955. I still have all the stuff they got from that time, down to parking reciept stubs(.25 to park at disneyland), mark twain ticket stubs, guides, etc. I got to grow up 10 miles south of disneyland and ended up working there in my late teens. there is alot of stuff on youtube about the parks that i still didnt know about. very informative and fun to watch!
@Glexs30 Marmots are basically giant squirrels and different types are found all over the world. I've seen Hoary Marmots in Montana. They whistle when they are alarmed or excited, and they can be pretty loud :) They can weigh 10-15 pounds as adults. If you ever see one, please don't try to touch or feed it. Just let them live naturally, they do much better that way!
@jjandcm1 wow! thank you for the effort to let me know what *marmots are haha thanks really, appreciate it a lot! :) Can't wait to see one in my lifetime haha! :D
Here it is, in 1956 my family moved one and a half block away from Disneyland ,it was a gheat place to be..at 9:00 pm, when the fireworks began, that is when we would have to be home..we could see the fireworks from our house..thank-you for input of the old days..again thank-you
wtf! should have named this what disneyland used to be not lost secrets of disneyland.and who in the hell would listen to some guy ramble on about this instead of enjoying disneyland . and disney hasn't gave him the boot out of the park
What happened to the mine scene on the old Natures Wonderland trestle and cave at the back of the jumping fish pond? Part of the trestle had been saved in 1979 when Big thunder was built and real dumping ore cars were placed at the trestles end. An ore bucket was rigged off a small boom to lower ore to a small boat on the waters below. The jumping fish were restocked and quite visable then. At one time the boarded up cave near Big Thunders exit was planned to be reused but I have run out..
MOST importantly! Check Disney 'dates' before walking into the Magic Kingdom with one of your kids on your shoulders and finding out it's one of their "Gay Days"! Then you do an about-face and head back to the car so it can be a Sea World Day! The kids maybe a little sad, but you promise them you'll go there another day to save the kids from perversion.
Been there, done that, and burning more vacation days so we could go on a 'straight' day. One of their guys told me, "85% of the staff are gay!"
@oldfart387How DARE you! The gay community has done NOTHING to deserve this! All we want is to be able to love who we love, no matter what gender or race. EVERYONE should have that right. Unless you're white and racist as well and think you're above all others. Clearly you were raised wrong. Gays are PEOPLE, not MONSTERS, and just because you think we're "perverts" and are going to molest your kids you treat us as such?! Straights molest kids more than gays.
@oldfart387 What would you say if it were illegal to be straight? What if we did the same thing to you and treated you like monsters? Oh, wait, we don't have to treat you like monsters because you are a prime example. YOU yourself are a MONSTER for the way you act towards us. What a wretched example for your children. Gays are better in the fact that we accept everyone's love and actually HAVE acceptance. You disgusting creep.
This is great! I learned so much just from watching this video. I go to Disneyland all the time and know a lot about the place, but a lot of the facts are new to me, so thanks!
The Cave In the pond across Big Thunder Mountain(BTM) was part of the former Nature's Wonderland Ride which was demolished to make way for BTM which was needed when people were demanding a new E - ticket ride and it opened in 1979. Nature's Wonderland was a slow ride with the same cars as BTM but the track was train track not coaster track and was basically a ride through the forest and the desert.
I always wondered about that darn cave across the pond there about 5:14. I always thought it seemed like it went somewhere. Thanks for solving that personal mystery lol
I no its random but Check out my channel for AMAZING accessories made out of ducktape and only ducktape! things such as high quality ducktape wallets, bags, and much more to come! fill free to subscribe! please and thank you.
i love that they used the music from the Nature Wonderlands in the vid. when going through the rainbow caverns part, this music was played but was drowned out from the water effects. Rainbow Caverns was nowhere near the Big Thunder, only the entrance and tunnel was. where Big Thunder is sitting was Beaver County on Nature's Wonderland.
@LuxoJRJR it was a tame train ride that basically went around the whole land that Big Thunder is taking up. Um there r youtube vids of it. Idk why it was torn out but Big Thunder took some of it's place.
@lawlessbocks Are u serious!!!! Disneyland is almost 20 years before Disney world seriously admit ur wrong ask anyone on this comment page get u facts straight little 1st grader
Thought you might like to know: I included this video of yours to augment my article, "Retroland: Disneyland Through the Ages - Part 2" (I'd link if YouTube allowed). Thanks!
I miss the old Disneyland . I hate the new look and even the shopping sucks all they sell are pins. I miss how each store had a theme and was different and had different merchandise it seems now you go in one store you seen them all. Who ever made these changes needs to get fired. I went there recently and I was disapointed and the food was overpriced $4.00 for one ice cream sandwich
Yeah I had been to the Disneyland many times. Family took me to this place for my birthday every year that time I was a kid. I am 43 now.......last time I attended the place on my mother's birthday (08-22-06)..... I'd like to go there again in one day,but the price went up to $99.00.....I don't appreciate it very much!
@JADEAV no it didnt, the $99 thing is the going 2 both parks on seperate days(ex:Disneyland on wed. and DCA on thurs.) the price is (as its been for a long time) $72 for general and $68 for kids :)
Wow, my sister has been asking me about the boarded up cave/broken tracks all her life (she's 17 now) and I just assumed that they were there for decorative purposes! I can't wait for her to come home from school and watch this, she'll be so thrilled. Fascinating, thanks for uploading. Nature's Wonderland seems like it was such a massive ride/area, it is a shame that they took it out. I do love Big Thunder quite a lot though, especially at night. :D
Bummer... looks like their URL has been taken over by some other company who thinks DIsneyland is part of Disney World... I wanted to buy the DVD! Hope it's available at window to the magic...
disney should have made some kind of museum for thier old and broke rides/atractions instead of burring it (anomatronics) or letting them rot (the Natures wonderland train).
@trainmanauxl1 i agree. but some are still in the park being used. like in one store the check out counter is part of the peoplemover car. some are used in other rides like the america sings animals r used in splash mountain. all u gotta do is look.
@Fedorovfan95 Carsland will be in the Disney's California Adventure Park, so no fears about them removing things from Disneyland! Also, I think that the majority of it will be structured in what was the Lion King parking lot, similar to what they did for the Indiana Jones ride (which was built on the Eeyore parking lot), so nothing should be lost or replaced for it in California Adventure either. I hope this was helpful, have a nice day! :D
@lawlessbocks actually disneyland was opened by walt in 1955 and disneyworld was opened in 1971 in florida, you can go look it up on google or anywhere, so get your 1rst grade history rite befor you go telling people there wrong.
@thewardenlover nature's wonderland.... oh you mean what we had on earth for free before we killed it with houses, cars, parking lots, malls and ... disney land?...
Another things I learned on another site is that the cave in the picture you see at 6:22 is still there. You can see at at The big Thunder Ranch. They half buried it and I believe boarded up the rest though, but it is still visible.
I love this and would love it if I could get the full version say, on itunes!!! I'd love it in book form as well because I haven't seen any books like this out there yet. Good job!!
I like this a lot! I've always wondered where the hell those caves went in frontierland and was pretty sure a train had to have gone through them, and now I know! The only thing I'm disappointed in about the video is I wish that the camera focused more on looking at the stuff the tour guide is talking about. I'm more interested in what he's talking about than looking at his body language and gestures.
@hobopopo6 all that shit is lies. walt disney was cremated and his ashes buried in his own tomb at Forest Lawn cemetery, in Glendale, CA. That rumor started in the 60s after his death. because he kept his death so secret and quiet about the will and death certificate secret. the rumor started as a joke suggesting that walt disney is frozen, Since then it grew into a fake mystery. It is not true. How can you believe a joke that is over 50 years old.
@Xenomorph237 how can you care so much about what i said. especially about something i dont give a fuck about. frankly the only thing i care about that has anything to do with disney is its manipulation of kids minds and its HUGE monopoly.
besides what i said was a joke. you really think gas chambers come on dude.
when I go to Disneyland every summer my papa (Grandfather) would always talk about this! He took me to all the places u went as well and he said we are standing over an old famous Disney ride and half of the people that go to the park dont even know it! : )
ANYONE WHO WANTS to see these faggot ass Bend down for LUCIFER MOTHERFUCKERS GO DOWN PERMENANTLY JOIN DA REVOLUTION & SPREAD DA WORD LIKE WILD FIRE WE DONT HAVE MUCH TIME!!WE NEED TO UNITE NOW OR ITS NEVER: BLACK BROWN WHITE MUST UNITE & FIGHT ADD my MYSPACE : chicago_cajes@yahoo.com & l.a_productionz@yahoo.com..WE CAN WIN & THERS NO ROOM FOR PUSSIES & COWARDS !!!!! ive never been to disney land and rainbow ridge...but i never knew hat much was left! alls i knew that was neft was the town, loading dock, rock towers, ect
1979 my friends and I would jump a fence and walk back to the Nature's Wonderland area and have to hide when the trains came by.

I can't find the DVD on youer web site. And I wounder what they are taking out for the new Carsland
Fedorovfan95 1 year ago
@Fedorovfan95 Carsland will be in the Disney's California Adventure Park, so no fears about them removing things from Disneyland! Also, I think that the majority of it will be structured in what was the Lion King parking lot, similar to what they did for the Indiana Jones ride (which was built on the Eeyore parking lot), so nothing should be lost or replaced for it in California Adventure either. I hope this was helpful, have a nice day! :D

@rebelgirl101902 Yes Disneyland and Disney world are both VERY different

Another things I learned on another site is that the cave in the picture you see at 6:22 is still there. You can see at at The big Thunder Ranch. They half buried it and I believe boarded up the rest though, but it is still visible.

Why is everyone in this video so damn fat?
limboslam 1 year ago
@limboslam Because the majority of the US population is obese despite what we see in movies and on tv.

YO wheres the murder?!? the lies, deceit?? the gas chambers? where is walts frozen body?!?! i dont care bout any of this shit!!!
hobopopo6 1 year ago
@hobopopo6 are u being sarcastic? or wat?
trakas35 1 year ago
@hobopopo6 all that shit is lies. walt disney was cremated and his ashes buried in his own tomb at Forest Lawn cemetery, in Glendale, CA. That rumor started in the 60s after his death. because he kept his death so secret and quiet about the will and death certificate secret. the rumor started as a joke suggesting that walt disney is frozen, Since then it grew into a fake mystery. It is not true. How can you believe a joke that is over 50 years old.
Xenomorph237 1 year ago
@Xenomorph237 how can you care so much about what i said. especially about something i dont give a fuck about. frankly the only thing i care about that has anything to do with disney is its manipulation of kids minds and its HUGE monopoly.
besides what i said was a joke. you really think gas chambers come on dude.

I know they are still valid, but a shame to see them ripped apart at the gate.
They are both dead mint and haven't seen the light of day since then.
