  • Love it!

  • To my shame I didn't know about Mewton-Wood!

    No doubt - great pianist!

  • Yes indeed ^_^!

  • These Concert Hall recordings had a wonderful sound. Goehr was a great conductor, also in this great piece. Thanks for posting.

  • Australian writer Sonia Orchard has written a novel based on Wood's life...

  • Please post his Chopin concertos, I lost the cds...:(

  • AMAZING! It was a great mistake to be repelled only because it was a name I didn't reconize. Thanks a lot for this. Now I really want to hear his Busoni and Bliss...

  • Glad you liked it dear!

  • Sinfoniette-Also listen to his Schumann,Chopin, and Beethoven. He was a very great pianist who died tragically!

  • just found this, while looking for the argerich, which seems to have been removed.

    sounds like a promising start.

anyone else a fan of anna vinnitskaya's june 2007 performance of this at the queen elisabeth competition in brussels? that's what put this piece on the map for me.

    wish it were still online.

  • i love this interpretation! It's as sweet as chocolate :), mild and lovely!

  • ericpaulpianist is absolutely right and I agree with him!

M-Ws Bliss Concerto and the Busoni-Concerto are also remarkable and belong to the finest records of these Concerti.

Thanks to imusiciki for uploading and remembering Noel Mewton-Wood.

    Michael

  • Noel Mewton-Wood is completely on par with great pianists like Sviatoslav Richter, Wladimir Sofronitsky, Edwin Fischer, Arthur Rubinstein and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. His sound is wonderfully clear, yet very sonorous. His rhythm is very exact, but free at the same moment. When I would be forced to take only one pianist to the imaginary pacific island it would be defenitely M-W. His Piano Concerto recordings of Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Schumann and Beethoven belong to the very very best.

  • Shostakovich is alwa... Shostakovich!

    Thanks!

    ciao Donni

  • Another Shostakovich! Thank you so much!

  • Thanks a lot for uploading!

  • Componimento di valore. bene orchestrato.

    Grazie buone Feste.
