  • Quandles are not usually taught in graduate school except at a couple of places. I have written a survey article and Joyce and Matveev's articles are quite nice. It is true I am not giving a lot of intuition here. I will add some later.

  • what are the requirements for this course? I've studied topology and a few courses of algebra, but this seems way too fast and there is no intuition in these lectures. what's the point of a quandle? Is a quandle an advanced study that requires a background in knot theory; I have no background in knot theory so is this useless for me? i have studied graph theory, not sure that will help here though

  • Are your research interests in topology by chance? This is extremely interesting; I love how group theory weaves itself through all mathematics (or so it seems to me thus far). One of my professors has written a book on Knot Theory, so I'll have to ask him about quandles. Thank you for the great video!

  • In TeX it is written $a\triangleleft b$. I pronounce this as a acted upon by b, or b acting on a. The operator acts on the right.

  • how do you pronounce the triangle operator?

  • @doubledown187 To pronounce it correctly I would have to rip out your tongue

  • cool! it looks like a play station controller!!!!

  • INCREDIBLE!

    I love your teaching!
