  • CLINTON instituted 'extraordinary rendition,' NOT BUSH.

  • Reagan and Clinton are both guilty of ordering renditions, it is true. However, it was George W. Bush who added the element of "torture" and escalated renditions far beyond anything previously done.

It's a shame, really - Presidents get impeached for lying about blowjobs, but apparently get away with rendition with ease.

  • I say implicate all the Democrats you can think of. It will make appointing a special prosecutor more politically palatable. The only way out of the darkness is a return to the rule of law.

  • The government,

    of the corporations,

    by the corporations,

    for the corporations.

  • Excellent program developed and used by the Clinton Administration. Despite all the left-wing propaganda to the contrary, extraordinary rendition saves the lives of innocent people.

  • sad how people seek to justify torture, not much has been learned. I'm curious to know does anyone think anything has been gained?

  • I guess it's what one considers "torture." I consider it torture whenever a liberal democrat opens his piehole.

  • the victim in the clip needed to be hospitalised as a result of his torture (which involved having his penis and testicles cut multiple times, blunt objects inserted in his rectum, kicked and punched repeatedly and all this over a period of many months), how has your torure effected you?

  • yeah, well don't open your liberal piehole when heads get cut off

  • the very next thing that needs to be done is to go for massive compensation. europeans detained or mistreated for any reason will demand millions of us dollars. in compensation immediately.

  • No one has the right to do what the CIA did. Both Al Queda and the CIA are no that much different now. And Bush is either a liar or a fool.

  • Godspeed you black emperor!

  • This also applies to Americans, so the folks who defend Bush and his insane actions should consider this. One man was recently arrested and charged with assualt for telling Cheney that his actions in Iraq are reprehensable. The man was arrested in front of his crying children. People are not allowed into a Bush's PUBLIC speaking events for having a dem sticker or shirt. This IS NOT America anymore.

  • I love how the US is always in the spotlight and the media turns a blind eye to the ravages in third world countries. The human rights being violated there... but when they do something the whole world stops. But then again I guess people need something to blame for their problems, no matter how irrational it may be... and it goes both ways...

  • he he, I think other dictators are mentioned enough. The US torture is actually rarely mentioned at all in the media. And it's been going on for a very long time, and it's only come out lately because of how open they are being about it.

  • Good points there.

  • Also the US is supposed to be a democracy, and thus ruled by the people. If torture is going on then that means either the leaders are being despotic, or the citizens are responsible. Either way, it means people naturally get upset about it. Lets not look to others to justify what is going on in the US. It wrong and should be stopped, period.

  • @COAnews old post I know but the correction must be made. The US is a Constitutional Republic. A democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner, whereas a republic has the same dinner guests but the sheep has a gun....

  • The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. -Thomas Jefferson

Maybe it's time for the US to start all over... why not?

  • Nice work, thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention. It's unfortunate that no one understands what these laws and policies mean.

  • yes it's too abstract for most people, or rather they refuse to think about it in practical terms.

  • How can they live with themselves? The Americans responsible for this are evil, sick motherfuckers. Those agents should be lined up and shot.

  • that's so sad. i am so lucky to have such an easy life.

  • 1. has this "diary" been entered into evidence in any court? 2. what was this lad doing in pakistan, and why was he travelling on a false passport? i'm sure it was all benign. i mean we ALL KNOW that there are many muslims in the uk travelling to terrorist hotbeds all over the world and not a one of them means us a bit of harm. how dare we even be suspicious!

  • yes good sarcasm but the reality is that this man was tortured and there is no evidence that he was guilty. Torture is wrong regardless, but people should be innocent until proven guilt even if we were to torture. It's called the rule of law. wake up and stop making excuses, stop being afraid.

  • are you joking

  • We are all in deep shit. Torture? Disappearing people? No lawyers required?

    Very, very bad.

  • ...and that my friends is America's Freedom and War on, or shall i say OF terror

  • It is unbelievable what is happening, and that those we look to protect our rights and uphold laws for living in a free, democratic and just society don't seem to care about the very things they have pledged to protect. What are they trying to protect?

  • Orson Welles is turning in his grave

  • yup

  • Surely you mean H.G. Wells?

  • it is sad and out...the real Gitmos are in Morocco (the shame haunts us, but our police will torture anyone who questions the Royal authority...) and other countries...it doesn't matter if Gitmo is closed down...buildings are still open for business. I'm glad this man is free....and his story is shared. merdeeeeeeeee

  • we already live in 1984. Try to talk to someone about this - their eyes just go blank, like they can't think about it, crimethought

  • yup

  • And Charge Cheney with war crimes!

  • We need to impeach Bush

  • the usa, says they don't torture, what they do is send them eles where to be tortured, what a country we live in, good video, wish it were longer.

  • Yup outsourcing torture, if it works for corporations why not government. Although I think it is safe to say that North American governments now are an expression of corporate interests.

  • Don't TALK about it. BE about it. httpwwwgtlpartyorg

  • If you had NOT practiced these things, you would not be experiencing these things.

  • so I can cut you penis away is that it?

just home address.. If you want. You seem to bee happy to get your penis cut off?

  • We thought it was so important to stop this kind of behavior that we killed 3000 of our soldiers and 600,000 innocent people in Iraq. Guess we should have just asked Hussein to train our interrogators instead.

  • So its okay to become your enemy and adopt their values? Isn't that the textbook definition of the enemy winning?

  • I think so, but I think the true enemy is violences as a viable option to solve anything. We are the enemy when we allow our representatives to commit violence in our name.

  • Violence is a necessay part of human existence.

  • like shit

  • hate shit

  • mmm shit

  • I don't understand your position here.

do you believe that nothing like this could ever happen?

Or do you believe that its a big pile of steaming lies covered up by the government?

Do you think torture is needed? Not according to the CIA spokesmen.... but hey... he is just a spokesmen.

  • My position is anti-war, anti-imperialism whether by force or economics, and I'm against torture, because it's firstly immoral, and secondly, I'd tell someone I was the goddamn anti-Christ is they wanted me to if they were taking a scalpel to my schlong. So it's counter productive and immoral. The like shit comment was for the guy who said violence is nessecary. mmm shit was just silly comment with no meaning.

  • that's: I am against imperialism by force, and I'm against Imperialism by economics. I wasn't saying I'm forcefully against them. Though I would be if I was in direct oppression from them.

  • Knowledge is a necessary part of human progression. But the pyramid is an age old structure and it will not fall easily, and the people still take comfort in the false reality that is given to them, not the truth...

  • lol...Muslims are to blame for this...you don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot do you? If you had practiced these things, you would not be experiencing thme now

  • you're are saying all muslims are to blame? you're saying all Muslims practice these types of things? This is wrong most Muslims are very peaceful, and for the record Western imperialism is the source of this not Muslims

  • It is very revealing that you focus on the inevitable consequences of Jihad(which is part and parcel of Islam), but you do not speak out against jihad. Yes. all Muslims are to blame. Islam is to blame Islam is imperialism disguised as a "religion". "radical" Islam is mainstream amd "moderate" islam is al takiya

  • And all Christians are to blame for you idiotic comment. All Christians are to blame for the millions killed by the Vatican. If all Muslims did that we would have finished WW3 and be looking for WW4.

  • "All Christians are to blame for the millions killed by the Vatican"

What the hell are you talking about?

  • Disgusting.

  • fucking pieces of shit

  • The future is looking like it will make 1984 into a childrens book. I will go out shooting.

  • i'll go out with a sharp stick [australian]

  • This is not right in any way. In this case the means do not justify the ends. Becouse through these means they have become worse than what they are trying to stop.

  • Yes I think people need to realize that "process", matters. How you get to a certain end always matters, and it effects our world greatly.

  • We have to put an end to this policy. Those that approve & those who carry out these acts must be held accountable. Even though our government has done plenty of things of which I disapprove, I always thought that they were above torture. How can we demand that others recognize human rights when we do this? (more)

  • (cont) All involved should be charged by the world court for war crimes & crimes against humanity. It's the only way we can return to the moral high ground.

  • what do you mean return to the moral high ground? The usa lost the moral high ground on the day it droped the first nuke on Japan. and since then has relentlesly spread fear and suffering on this planet. wake up and take accountability

  • Michael...I couldn't agree with you more. My reference was specific to torture.

  • Yeah um... the nuclear bomb was actually a strategy aimed at sparing human life since the Japanese were trained to fight to the last man, even children were armed and trained to fight an American invasion force.

  • The Japanese were on the retreat when the bomb was droped. Most people that even bother to find out the truth knows this. The nuclear bomb on Japan was actually The strategy to warn Russia of the USA's might and unpredictability. Which brings it back to the moral high ground question. When is it moraly right to kill 100 of thousands of innocent people just to prove how much of a bully you can be? not to mention the generations of people that have to deal with the radiation.

  • I agree the bomb was not needed to humble the Japanese. An island nation whose navy is defeated is a defeated nation; they would have been eating bark if they had not surrendered. Your analysis is probably correct, Michel.

  • They would have probably eaten bark then. They wouldn't give up, you have to understand they're mentality, if they weren't shown there was no way out besides surrender or complete annhilation they would've taken their chances and pressed on.

  • Did you even read what I wrote? You have to understand the Japanese mentality, they may have been strategically defeated but their morale was not. What were we supposed to do sit around and wait for surrender while they re-build their forces? A U.S. invasion would have cost more lives by far.

  • I read it. I'd heard that argument many times before.

I also know that some preparations had been made by the Japanese to resist an invasion. We'd have done the same, you know, if we'd been on the other end of the stick.

But I am not convinced by the argument. Japan is totally dependant on imports to survive. A bit more effort on the sea lanes would have sealed them off and forced them to the negotiating table.

  • Perhaps, but I wonder how many people the emperor would have let starve before he surrendered. It's a moot point nevertheless.

  • Poor dude... torture is crazyness...

  • that's putting it lightly

  • The head of this plan said publically in response to questions about it, "we can use extraordinary measures, including the mutilation of the genitals of the suspect's children."

Shameful - and evidentally, in practice.

  • I hope one day enough people are angered by this that they stop it.

  • I think many are still willfully blind, and propagandized

  • it's amazing how the world has changed in the last few years. I often used to wonder how people in Germany let the holocaust happen. But now I understand - people are just afraid, and too scared and lazy to worry about this stuff. The people who do care are too few and are thus marginalized.

  • ...marginalised and "managed"

  • how do you think those who care are managed? I mean specifically. Just wondering what you're thoughts are on this.

  • sorry dude, but this is not a matter of the "last few years" USA goverment orgs do stuff like this since decades. It good to see it slowly arrive common knowlege. I hope the USA rsidents will manage to change the ways her nation treats the world. If not I forsee a violent future for many of us.

  • yes I know about what the USA has done historically, specifically with the CIA etc... but I think it has become worse in recent years, and certainly much more open. thanks for pointing out the history though, it's important to remember.

  • That's some creepy stuff man, nothing that's surprising really... I hope you Americans stand up for both your rights, and the rights of other that are being broken by your people..

  • yeh the scary thing is that it's not really surprising yet, it continues.

  • Some of us are, but we're slightly outnumbered for some reason. "Fact" and "theory" are becoming hazy in the eyes of a lot of the US. A lot of people here think that "theory" just means "guess." Facts are subjective here, so our job gets a little harder whenever we have to explain the difference between facts, opinions, and outright lies.
