I said it a million times. This team didn't win the title because of 2 problems: 1) with 4 players like that you CAN'T play triangle offense, you have to let them run and pass 2) Kobe asking for the ball, he couldn't stand GP running the offense as a true point guard (remember coach Jackson never played with pure point guards).

@lordg17 Yes Payton was too ignorant to learn the triangle offense and Malone got injuried, but Kobe pretty much ruined the Team Chemistry, threatening to opt out and take Slava with him.. (Hilarous actually). Horace Grant and George got injuried as well.

Remember this 1 fondly -- 1 of the few Laker gms shown on Brit telly in 03/04, and 1 of the few where the big 4 looked jubbly together. Even Payton was showing rare swaggah there at the end of the 3rd.
