On one hand, Clemens says that he and Pettitte are super close and that if Andy used HGH, "he would have told him." (Clemens). On the other hand, as close as they are, (according to Clemens) "he (Clemens) had no idea that Pettitte was using HGH." Huge contradiction.
Another huge item is the fact that Clemens took 3 days to get the committee the nanny's info; at which time in between they interviewed her first. If Clemens has nothing to hide, why not just give the info? Why bring the nanny home?

The reason his lawyers freak out as they did is because they knew this sequence of events looks like they were trying to influence a witness. It isn't tampering because this isn't a court proceeding, but really it is bascially the same thing. The lawyers had to have known this would look terrible for Clemens, but did it anyway. Why is that? The only logical answer is that they felt they "had" to because if the nanny said anything damming, they could pre-empt it as it was the lesser of 2 evils.

McNamee and Petitte have told the truth , Clemens , understandably wants to stand up for his reputation, but has no ground to do so in light of Petitte and Mcnamme's testimony and syringe evidences that McNamee kept in case he was ever made to be the fall guy.
Clemens will likely be pardoned even if he has perjured hiomself.
It would have been much better if Clemens had not sought to testify.
He has hurt his own credibility to an even larger degree, if possible.

It wasn't Waxman's idea to have Clemens testify; Clemens requested/ demanded that he be able to testify before congress to address the allegations made in the Mitchell Report. Waxman (and congress) didn't seek this out, they were simply giving Clemens his opportunity to testify, as he had requested as a right. And Waxman never implied anything; he simply said that there were other (better) options for Clemens to give the Committee the contact information regarding the nanny. Roger fcuckd up.

Also it is unethical to do something that can be disasterous to health giving an unfair advantage on the field because all are not willing to gamble with their health.
