  • This guy is a total douche. I met him about 14 years ago at one of his solo acts. Total loser.

  • I thank God for Rock Bands like Petra. As a teen it was all the gospel I would pay attention to. Now as a grown up I am fully born again. I know Jesus is real. And I could go on and on about God. Thank you John for your faith , it saved my life.

  • John, I hope you read this?I am an advent rocker but never gave up my faith in Christ but also know that my misfortunes have taken me to a place I don't care for in life itself as to me now?I still believe that rock is alright and agents, record producers and promoters are like a mis guided tool against your own dreams? They go by the numbers not by talent and creativity.Still at my age I still have hope in the American way of trying but will not wain from my belief in Christ.

  • Good post God bless.

  • Praise the Lord for this man's life! He has impacted many people including mine! If it was not for Petra's music, I would have easily grativated towards drugs....perhaps towards the darkside of so-called, "Rock n Roll." Thank you John Schlitt!

  • Praise The Creator, for helping another one of us -

'It only works, if we work it.' -

  • god bless :)

  • Amen to that.

  • John God bless you Man... since 20 years I heard music from petra and all the time I feel the power of God and even keep make me feel so so good . I been sad when petra gone but some day would happen.... sorry for my English... Im from mexico... SALUDOS!!!!

  • head east SUCKS

  • @hotrodius YOU SUCK

  • @hotrodius you suck

  • I am not a Christian but I respect John's commitment to his family and what he believes in. Had no idea that he was with Petra fot so long. Rock on dude.

  • Dude! I used to listen to this music in the early 90's when I was like 8 years old. I didn't even know who Petra was.

  • I think its awesome that this man has found something that pulled not just his life together but his marriage as well.I kind of relate to it in a way because I lost my faith a long time ago and my marriage is in trouble.I have also thought of taking my life as well.I do like his music a lot and maybe some day I will meet him.

  • Thank you brother. You where very important in my first steps with Jesus. Petra songs are God made.

  • Peace Be With John & His Family -

  • chefafischer is right. He just traded one addiction for another - coke and booze for Jesus and AA meetings. Drives me crazy when people use "getting saved" as a means to dodge responsibility for past indiscretions. "The devil made me do it." Gimme a break. John - and only John - is responsible for both his fuck-ups and getitng sober.

  • @wrf1973 so yer sayin....whata sayin ?

  • Kicked out of a classic rock band for doing too much coke. LOL. This dude is EPIC.

  • Amen! And

More Power to Yah!! God bless

  • God is great ! He is always there for us , even when we fail him.

  • how beautiful!! How wonderful you are father God! Praise his name and thank you John for sharing this beautiful recount

  • for all that feel a need to post their opinions about Jesus on every single video they see. Let me say this: treating the new testiment as a historical artifact as it is, Jesus was either crazy (and did some pretty encredible things) or He was who He sais He was.Not only by the life that He lived and the claims He made, but also by resurecting Himself from the grave, which is also recorded with other historians. God and man, sent to help you and me out, so why the big fuss? Hes amazing, even today

  • Sorry arien, I stand by my comment. Jesus, Zues, Posedion, it's all mythology, and if I had a dime for every alcoholic / drug addict that traded one fucked up belief system for another, I'd be a rich man.

  • @chefafischer ......WOW, why would you slam the guy for being a Christian? I don't believe in Gods either but I would much rather be around a Christian than a drug addict, would'nt you. Better his religious beliefs makes him happy than drugs/alcohol(which is a drug). Actually I'm really jealous of him........wish I could be that happy without it being chemically induced. Give the guy credit....he chose to turn his life around and be a good person......whatever his beliefs are!

  • Hi, i hope you guys understand why he was able t turn his back in on drugs right away, It was through Jesus.

Only GOD can do things like this. Jesus turned his life just like mine. everything makes sense with Jesus in your life. He is the one to be given all the the credit to.

He can turn your life around too. You just have to ask him. and you will be able to let go of drugs and those things that ruin your life.

    God bless you all

  • traded an addiction for mental illness . sad

  • @chefafischer oh yes for sure is better being a drug addict than a man with values... great reasoning, try to bring back your dead idols victims of their addictions and then talk... John is still a great artist and he gave hope and a motivation to be a better person to thousands of people through his art dedicated to spread Jesus´message... faith is not an illness... is an aewsome gift that changes all your life vision

  • @chefafischer you think he should have stayed with drugs? What difference does it make whether a person is cured by a placebo or medicine? They're cured.

  • My first rock concert ever was Petra PRAISE GOD I didnt Know He was Lead singer of Head EAST.. JESUS LIves JESUS SAVES ONE HAS ONLY TO ASK HIM IN Your HEART & BE SAVED I recently finished vocal Tracks for a Christian Music Publisher TATE MUSIC .. THE LORD truly works in mysterious ways.... The concert I went to was 1988 TOMMY

  • Btw I love the my god comment. It is nice of you to realize that there very well may be more then one superior being. I will tell you why Christian faith is delusional. In my first theology class the instructor dropped the bible into the trash can. he said, "If you need that book, which was written by men to have faith, you have no faith. Faith comes from your heart, not in what you read." So as soon as you pick a god a religion you are delusional because god does not live in religions.

  • @Cimiar , what college did you go to? Was that instructor a Christian? Btw, your instructor have not done his/her homework well because faith comes not from one's heart; it rather comes from hearing, and hearing of the word of God.

  • @amairaja That is called indoctrination.

  • @benbonewilly Christianity is the religion of love. Then were the kingdom of peace among the Christian countries, at least to each other. Instead the puritan came to America, not for religious freedom, but for religious exclusion, they came here because they were religiously intolerant. They lock their door to the homeless on cold nights, They give to feel self righteous. It is about self praise Do I know Christianity, I spent two years in a seminary, They are hypocrites.

  • @Cimiar who is talking about religion??? religion can´t save men from drugs, Faith is the key!! Don´t blame faith or Jesus for what people do... Jesus was a homeless himself in his paassing for this sad world, a person who for gets this doesn´t deserve to be called a christian... Jesus never built a church cause He preached that the kingdom of heavens is in every heart who embrace His message.

  • @ariengirl Jesus was not homeless----his father was a carpenter, which was upper class in Ancient Israel. Further his family was called to the census, only the well to do were called for census so the Romans could tax them. Jesus came from a rich family, just look at the wedding in Cana. money. Also , at his anointing with alabastron, a perfume that cost a year wages--Jesus replied 'No worry waste the perfume on my feet " their will always be poor"' Jesus was a great man, but no god.

  • Great story!

  • I don't remember Head East.

  • your'e giving me a headache!

  • Listen to Lou Gramm (X-lead singer of Foreigner's) testimoney!! Equally inspired!!

  • Search: NO DETENGAS TU PROGRESO

  • This video makes me sad. The lies... they pressured him into cocaine, the "rock n roll lifestyle" (whatever that is), etc. But at least Jesus fixed him up good.

  • Yet another "illogical conversion". Haha, i love it. There's no explaining it outside of the love of God, you just can't do it. He chooses to love us, even in our most dark moments, he already did! Great testimony of what really fulfills. God bless all of you who may watch this!

  • @benbonewilly this is not about 2 world views. This is about the facts and faith. If you dont know the difference then I feel sorry for you.

  • @benbonewilly LOL yes you are. Christians are trying to make their beliefs law. Do you fight for a womens right to choose?

  • @benbonewilly STOP WRITING ME PRIVATE MESSAGES . I TOLD YOU I WONT DATE YOU.

  • @benbonewilly LOL just because you dont have the balls to read the information on pagan holidays doesnt mean that you can just wave your hand and have me explain what is known to 99% of the rational religious historians in the world.

I have no intentions of trying to teach someone who believes in an imaginary friend. There is nothing that anyone can say to you. You will always fall back on the tired "faith" , "bible" and "he says so" excuses.

You show that Judeo/Chrstn Holidys are not related.

  • Well I cant post a link.. So you can google Easter and Pagan holidays. Or Christmas and Pagan holidays. LOL boy are you in for a surprise if you dont already know your human history.

Did you not listen in college?

  • But when you try to force those of us that live in the real into following your religious faith then buddy that means war.

It makes you no different than Al Q or any other fanatical religious group.

Jesus told you to keep it in your heart and not to force anyone to follow your beliefs.

    Yes bud. Check your bible.

  • LOL listen American Taliban member. I dont have to lead you by the hand to your local library or to google to find the historical books telling you about the pagan holidays and beliefs that were used by the Jews then the fake Jews ( Christians) to control the people. Its just the facts Jack. Even if you dont like it. I will give you a link to start your education. Now dont get me wrong. If you need to believe in what some people wrote down 2000 yrs ago then far be it from me to stop you.

  • @benbonewilly maybe hilarious is the wrong word. But delusional is the right word. Time to leave the cave and move away from superstitions that are 1000's of years old.

Most based on previous pagan beliefs that the cult members of Jesus used to control the people.

  • thanks for the comedy video... "Never Been Any Reason" did rock like a motherfucker, though.

  • Thanks for sharing your testimony John. May the grace of God be with you always and my you continue to abide in him!! Blessings from OHIO!

  • sad lost christians..i pity your lost souls!!!

  • Great testimony!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • death is an ideology

  • cause u have to listen to ur church for faith right? god forbid u read the bible urself! nothing like taking responsibility for your own soul rather than sit back and call people douche bags!

  • Powerful clip.

  • por favor alguem poderia traduzir este video pra gente?!?!

  • God Bless ya John!! Love ur music/ministry

  • Such a lucky man to have his woman stay with him.most women in USA ,well its all about them.

  • love this video

  • ?UESTION EVERYTH!NG - You did nothing wrong you are not born a sinner, don't let anyone take your life from you! All we know is we get one shot at self awareness on this planet. Question everything you've been told. Start with this one; could god be man made?

  • It could... but it is not.

  • its not the question of trusting god its a question of trusting your church........

  • We're all born with the spiritual inheritance of sin. Wether you like it or not, that's just how it is. You now, the big problem with people and the Bible is that many of us think it is a matter of agreeing or not with some bullet-points... Bible=The Word of Living God.. you take it as your way of living this life or you don't.

  • I don't.

  • Good, at least you're honest.

  • for the Brazil please !!!

  • Edificante!

Só coloquem a tradução em baixo para Português-Brasil.

    Grato.

  • Coloquem legenda em Português-Brasil, para poder compreender melhor.

    Obrigado!

  • I want this video, I have watched this many times.

  • Amen brother :>

  • Why is John's mom in the video?

  • Christianity. Hilarious !

  • I have met John Shlitt in person and shook his hands. That was Awesome.

  • seria bueno que lo tradujeran al español ya que hay muchos latinos que los siguen

  • 5:12 to the end ot the video is the key.

  • Thank you John that was so inspirational

  • Great testimony!

  • Thanks for posting! I listen to John Schlitt with Head East AND Petra. I got to meet and talk with John in 2000. At that time Petra was in an identity crisis and John was intent on seeing the band through that. And then "Jeckyl and Hyde" came out! Very nice guy, and a true professional.

If you get a chance, check out John's last hit with Head East, "If You Knew Me Better". It didn't chart in the States but it was a hit in Germany and is still remembered there. It's here on YouTube.

  • Amen! May God bless you JS.

  • I saw him live today! was awesome!!

  • God saved my life more than once, I still spit in his face. Please forgive me Lord. Thank you John for sharing such a great testimony, God bless ya,

  • WOw thanks John I love ya man God Bless

    Your are a Blessing

  • wow, what a story. It's amazing that God showed him how to use his talent the way God had intended. To praise Him

  • I can name every Petra song but not one H E song and you know what? I think that statement would please John.

  • Having met him, I would say you're probably right. He was reluctantly accepting of his past with Head East when I met him.

  • anyone noticed the resemblance between John and Scott Stapp?

  • In looks, to some degree, yes. In vocal style and performance style, no. The closest I've ever heard as far as vocal style is concerned is the current singer of the German heavy metal band Helloween.

  • Helloween rox!

  • I agree! Check out a Helloween song here on YouTube called "Never Be a Star" (from the 2003 album "Rabbit Don't Come Easy"). It sounds so much like Petra it's unbelievable--the John Schlitt voice, the Bob Hartman guitar solo, the John Lawry keyboards, everything.

  • Facinating story. I remember enjoying Head East and as soon as they hit the "big time", they dissapeared. Now I know why. I'm sorry to say I cant name a single Petra song but the grand plan workd out, didn't it? In the late 70's there were numerous "religous rock" bands but none were taken seriously. No airplay, no coverage on MTV, nothing. Cant help but wonder if John didnt actually put the genre on the map and in the ears of listeners. Although not a fan, I wish him and all, God's blessings.

  • wow....i didn't know that!cool!

  • Thank for posting this.

  • I remember going to Head East concerts and listening to JS sing and getting stoned out of my gourd then after I got saved listening to Petra and thinking OMG I'm not the only one. Knowing that one of my idols from my doping days was also saved was a big help to me God ROCKS

  • to PetraRocks100

    in regards to your question

I am not an authority nor would I pretend to be but I will give you my thoughts upon your question

throughout the Bible there are only 3 people that we know have gone to heaven - Elijah was taken to heaven in a fiery chariot, Enoch walked with God and then was not - for the Lord took him up, Jesus of course ascended to heaven after his earthly ministry was complete and after he'd resurrected, Moses we believe was taken to Heaven

  • Amazing!

  • God is truly amazing.

  • Absolutely amazing....

was this the hole interview or just a part of it ?

  • that is all of it.

  • Amazing testimony.

  • By the way, the term "universe" itself literally means, "single spoken sentence". What could that sentence be, I wonder....

    Here's one possibility:

"And God said, 'LET THERE BE LIGHT'."

  • Wow, i think you had the final, devastating blow here. Nice dude, bless you!

  • I could---and will, if necessary---go on. But I hope MetricSU will simply come to grips honestly with the fact that he hates God and then ask himself why that is, rather than building pseudointellectual castles made of straw so the tail can wag the dog. Ultimately, either the universe itself is god, or God is God. One or the other is the Uncaused Cause. Christians believe it is more logical and likely that an intelligent, personal God is the Prime Mover.

  • Nor is there any consensus among scientists concerning the "pretty good idea about how the earth was formed". Their theories and assertions are constantly changing to fit the latest fads and trends, and yes I can cite examples. For now, I'll merely point out that yesterday's crackpot is frequently today's edgy, avant-garde intellectual of choice.

I'd also like to see MetricSU cite examples of biogenesis that has been observed to occur from non-living elements, as evolution requires.

  • This is leaving completely aside---for the moment---the fact that the evolutionists themselves can't seem to get their story straight. Witness the screeching polemics of traditional evolutionist Richard Dawkins and compare them to the heretical-by-implication beliefs of Stephen Jay Gould. Yet Dawkins is today a professor at Oxford while Gould, when he was alive, was a tenured and much-decorated Ivy Leaguer.

  • I'm curious what objective "scientific" evidence MetricSU can give us that proves the universe has "always...existed in some form", particularly when the scientific method depends on experimentation based on observable, repeatable phenomena, and even in an atheistically evolved universe, there were no human beings around to observe the beginning of the universe and it's obviously impossible to do an experiment that would test the theory of the universe's eternality.

  • "It only ever takes a few minutes for a Christian to talke himself/herself into a corner. You say we will never fully understand how the universe was created (we have a very good idea how the earth formed) yet "it is obvious" God started the Big Bang. It's no such thing. The universe could always have existed in some form. If God has always existed, why not just the universe?

Do you believe in evolution? That's the real test to see if someone should even be in an intelligent discussion."

  • Having successfully demonstrated---so he thinks---that Christians are idiots, MetricSU can't help himself and goes on to the usual tired, atheist canards about evolution, quote-unquote. To wit:

  • So, then, the gauntlet is thrown down for all time and history. Either Jesus of Nazareth really did rise from the dead as an objective fact of history, or Christianity is false and in fact worse than useless.

Therefore, the only reasonable question for any honest skeptic is, Did the resurrection really occur, or not? This is, and has always been, the lynchpin of the entire issue, not the kind of pseudointellectual posturing to which MetricSU subjects us.

  • In fact, this passage is from the same First Letter to the Corinthians from which MetricSU quoted!

    1 Corinthians 15:13-17:

If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead....and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile.

  • (This may be because the voice spoke in Aramaic or Hebrew, whereas Paul's travelling companions were Greek or Latin speakers. Or, it may be that only Paul could comprehend the voice.)

What shall I do, Lord?, I asked.

'Get up', the Lord said, 'and go into Damascus. There you will be told all you have been assigned to do'.

Elsewhere, Paul makes clear that he does not serve a "mythological" being, but rather a prophesied Messiah who rose from the dead in space, time and history.

  • Paul told his conversion story on many occasions, just one of which is recounted in Acts 22:6-10. Paul says:

"About noon, as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, 'Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me?' Who are you, Lord, I asked. 'I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting', he replied. My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.

  • Paul's Jesus was "mythical", quote-unquote. It's hard to know where to start in addressing such blatant falsehood, but I guess we can go straight to the Bible, since MetricSU wants to quote from the Apostle Paul.

First, Paul said from the time of his conversion to the time of his execution that he had had an objectively real encounter with the risen Jesus of Nazareth. That is, that Jesus had appeared personally to Paul after Jesus' resurrection from the dead.

  • MetricSU wrote:

"You might recognize 1 Corinthians 13:11 (from the King James Bible).

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

Unlike other Christians, I simply took this to heart.

Go back and read Paul sometime, and you will see he never knew of spoke of a human figure. Paul's Jesus was entirely mythical."

    Uhhh....okay.

  • believe whatever you want, its all in your head.

  • Wow amazing testimony! And if you really listened, you would not be arguing and wasting comment spaces when they can be used for blessings.

  • Well said man. This video contains what it contains and it's only redicolous to start arguing about what to belive or not. People are free to belive what they want and noone should be offended by that. End of discussion!

  • Hate Your Family!

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)

    Comment

This remarkable statement of hate by Jesus directly contradicts the idea of a loving Christ. If one must hate their father, mother, wife, children, brethren and sisters and even themselves, in order to become a disciple of Jesus, one must question Christ's idea love, family, and decency.

  • What Jesus is doing here is not actually tell His followers to hate their father, mother and so on...

He wanted to show that to be able to fully be a Gods child and get 100% of His blessing you cannot have anything else that comes between you and God.. "no room in the middle" that is.

To makes this clear he used this kind of "radical" statement about hate.

Jesus stands for love, peace and salvation to it's fullest, nothing else.

  • If there is a God, and an afterlife, I'd be worried if I were a Christian. Any being capable of creating this universe does not need a human to believe in a blood sacrifice during a primitive time for salvation.

No, such a being wants those who think rationally and can resist considerable pressure to believe stupid things. There's no Hell, but there's no afterlife for Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and so on.

If there is a God, I'll be with Him in the afterlife. Not you.

  • That is the most stupid, redicolous claim you have ever posted in here.

You do not believe in God, Jesus or anything that has to do with christianity, in fact you spend your time trying to disprove it.

And for this you expect that God will reward you with a place in heaven?

I can only say that there is an unpleasant surprise waiting for you then, when you die.

  • Please, some Christian resolve this scenario for me. A woman in her early 30s, after studying medicine, goes to the poorest part of Africa to tend to the people. Being a scientist and good citizen, she never bothered to look into the myths of Judiasm, Christianity, or Islam. After two years, she returns home to Chicago. A former gilted boyfried tracks her down and murders her.

In prison, the man finds Jesus and repents.

Question: Who is in heaven, the man or the woman?

  • I think you already know what the answer is. I'm afraid if that woman did not let Jesus into her life, she is not in heaven.

If the man let Jesus in and repented his sins and prayed for forgiveness, then he is in heaven.

  • Indeed I do. And that woman -- for refusing to believe in fantastic events that supposedly happened 2000 years ago for lack of evidence -- deserves to spend eternity -- not 100 years, a million years, or a trillion years -- in a fiery lake.

So, let's see. That's more than a trillion years per sin. No human could be that barbaric.

How an adult with average intelligence can believe this is beyond me. I'm hoping in two centuries, when Jesus still hasn't arrived, that it is finished.

  • I know it sounds unfair, but even if that woman did many good deeds, you can not claim that she lived a perfect, sinnless life. No human can do that.

  • Even though, it appears you are not discussing this anymore, i still want to add something. Quote (MetricSU):"Please, some Christian resolve this scenario for me. A woman in her early 30s, after studying medicine, goes to the poorest part of Africa to tend to the people. Being a scientist and good citizen, she never bothered to look into the myths of Judiasm, Christianity, or Islam. After two years, she returns home to Chicago. A former gilted boyfriend tracks her down and murders her...

  • i tried giving you a decent answer to this question but it wouldn't allow me to put my answer - kept telling could only put 500 words, rather annoying

  • Continued...In prison, the man finds Jesus and repents.

Question: Who is in heaven, the man or the woman?

You see MetricSU, the thing about salvation, and the grace God has given us by sending his son, it can NOT be bought, but it can be given to you if you are only willing to accept it.

  • Amen bro. Free gift by grace.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the Christians commenting here have nothing of substance to say? All they can do is make assertions: "The Bible is real!" "Have faith!" "Trust in Jesus and you won't go to Hell!" Not a shred of evidence of any of it, and plenty against it.

For those of you who aren't absolute cowards, try reading a book that critically exams the Bible sometime. I recommend Dan Barker's book "Losing Faith in Faith." Dan was once a fundamentalist preacher. He also has an IQ > 130.

  • Awesome testimony.

  • I can create a new house, oh by the way i may use exiisting materials that have been around for a long long tine. Scienctist are consistantly learning new info that ouerturns what was thought to be accurate. The devil will misslead you, Judas.

  • Yawn yawn, So sad Americans resort to God to give them a reason to exsist. This video of a human telling his story becomes a sad pathetic debate on Darwinism. Your 'GOD' didn't 'CREATE' junkies. Man did. Never mind when the Americans make an arse of something else at least they did it for god.Now where is that monkey to mate with??

  • I tell ya, this man has an amazing voice. He is one of the few singers who (I think) sounds better live than in a studio. Course, he can't quite hit the notes he used to, but still can crank out a good performance.

  • This is a really good story to hear. I never knew about Petra "back in the day" but quite pleased to see the legacy lives on.

  • John's story is so amazing to hear! Definitely one of the best voices in rock music.

  • So you don't believe in evolution. Then you are an imbecile -- well beyond pathetic -- and I am wasting my time here. If you can't see that the difference between humans and apes is just a few million years of evolution then I question your brain power.

Not that you deserve it, but for your information I was a big Head East fan when I was in high school. I even saw them in concert in San Jose. I was curious about what happened to John Schlitt, which is how I wound up here.

  • I question YOUR brain power!! I assume your mind is so weak you replied to my comment by accident. Please never speak to me again.

  • Ah, yes, mistakenly clicking on the wrong "reply" button is comparable to taking fairy tales and myths seriously, even when like-minded people use those same myths to persecute gays, women, and (historically) people of other colors. Who has the problem here?

  • Oh! by the way. i think people are right when they say the creation story in the bible is wrong, I think that God started the big bang instead and the decided too make the earth, let it develop itself a little after creating the basic needs for it too be able to host life forms. God is awsome, and all who says differently i'll say are poor men with lack of faith and i feel sorry for them.

  • Well, by all means congratulate yourself for not being totally delusional. Unlike half of other Christians, you've decided to accept the mountains of scientific evidence in favor of an old earth.

And how many people did prior to the 17th century? Almost none. Why? Because the Bible clearly implies the earth was created in 6 days and humans were created then -- about 6,000 years ago. Sure, you can go back now and read anything you want into the Bible. But it comes up way short.

  • Ofcourse the creation story is redicolous, I agree. It's obvious that God simply started the big bang and made the universe. He is an awsome creator and I guess we'll never fully understand how earth and the universe was created untill we come to heaven and get to ask God himself.

  • It only ever takes a few minutes for a Christian to talke himself/herself into a corner. You say we will never fully understand how the universe was created (we have a very good idea how the earth formed) yet "it is obvious" God started the Big Bang. It's no such thing. The universe could always have existed in some form. If God has always existed, why not just the universe?

Do you believe in evolution? That's the real test to see if someone should even be in an intelligent discussion.

  • I never said that the universe could not have always existed in some form, i'm saying that God made it bigger, made galaxys, systems, stars and planets(among them, the earth).

Evolution, ofcourse I will not deny that it is possible, God created earth then he created life and let it evolve.

  • Of, course, scientists now pretty well understand how stars and galaxies form, so I'm not sure why a supernatural being is called for.

Nevertheless, you seem to accept the idea of a very old earth and evolution. So, tell me: what is the purpose of Jesus? Remember Adam, Eve, and original sin? If that is just a fable, why do we need to be redeemed? If we evolved from lower life forms -- as God evidently intended -- then we are what we are. No original sin. No Jesus. (He was fictional.)

  • Now that is just stupid, we are still sinners even if Adam and Eve is just a fable, so the purpose of Jesus is still the same: to bring salvation to mankind. If you don't want to accept that salvation, then that's fine, I feel sorry for you then. But before we continue to argue I want an answer to following question: why are you trying to disprove God so badly? I don't see why you would do that, does it bother you that some people believe in God?

  • I'm not trying to disprove God. I'm disproving a personal God, and Christianity in particular. And I actually don't care that people believe in God if they keep it to themselves. But gays are persecuted regularly in the name of Abraham's God, science is often impeded -- see stem cell research -- and half of the population is treated as inferior -- see Catholism, Mormanism, and Islam, to name a few.

When someone asks this question, they are out of arguments.

    Do you believe in hell?

  • Ok, why is Christianity so much more important to disprove than other religions like, Islam or hinduism? And when you say that that you don't care that we belive in God as long as we keep it to ourselves, do you mean that it bothers you that videos like this one are posted on YouTube? As for gays, science and other religions, there are different meanings about those, I do not care if someone are gay or has a different religion as long as they don't bother me with it.

  • Continued...And science is impeded? Well if that is true then you still can't blame christianity alone for it, that is very unfair. I am not out of arguements, I simply wanted to know why you would try to disprove God on the comments page of a christian-related video.

Yes I believe in hell, I belive it exists, but not to worry, if you accept the grace Jesus has offered us you wont end up there.

  • Let me explain something to both of you. The Bible says God created the Earth in six days and rested on the seventh. It doesn't matter how He did it. The fact that you two are arguing the point means that neither one of you, or myself for that matter, really understand for sure. Just accept what the Bible says with faith. That's the bottom line. Total understanding is not needed since we have EXTREMELY limited intelect when it comes to understanding the things of God.

  • What a copout! If you believe in God, don't you think He gave us brains for a reason? If your God really wants us to delude ourselves -- to ignore the mountains of evidence in favor of a 15 billion year old universe and that humans evolved from simpler life forms, then I want no part of it.

Rather than believe the very smart people who know -- 93% of our best scientists do not believe in a personal God -- you'd rather appeal to a document written by primitive people. Go figure.

  • The reason he gave us brains was to make us the superior race so we could be in charge over the animals and make it comfortable here.

To be honest with you Metric, I think you are pathetic going on trying to disprove christianity on the comment page of a christian related video. You are only doing it to provoke us, just admitt it, if you don't belive in God, fine, but keep it to yourself. Nobody here cares what you say, you are wasting your time here, my suggestion: go and do something usefull!

  • You might recognize 1 Corinthians 13:11 (from the King James Bible).

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

Unlike other Christians, I simply took this to heart.

Go back and read Paul sometime, and you will see he never knew of spoke of a human figure. Paul's Jesus was entirely mythical.

  • Metric SU, i feel sorry for you for your lack of faith, i'll pray for you and hope you realise the truth before it's too late. blessings to you! And please stop talking s... about other peoples beliefs, it's our "problem" not yours, right?

  • good for you, john! i love you, brother.

  • I saw Head East live in Wichita Falls Tx twice when I was a teenager, once John left the band they fell out, I saw them twice again without him and let's just say, it was a no go.

Awesome to see what the Lord has done in John's life. He sounds great with Petra.

  • The Bible states: life came from water and man came last. In addition the Bible speaks of mountains under the sea and of continental drift long before modern scientists discovered that.

  • One can overcome substance abuse without embracing the supernatural. John blames the Head East manager for encouraging him to be more of a partyer? That's a copout.

It's great that John turned his life around, but the self-righteous Christian John is undoubtedly less interesting than the Head East John. The Christian John needs more introspection. Evidently, he's quite comfortable thinking God intervened on his behalf, but lets children die daily in horrible ways.
