  • you ever get back with Russ about how it's holding up to this point?

  • @dualberettas - Still going strong.

  • Niccccee!!

  • some old school mag pouches! nice pentagon light on the rifle :)

  • Any updates after a year? Does it still holds?

  • ok why is the shooter wearing those big ass vest in every shot with the tight shirts and sunglasses lol, cus hes a bad ass that has a riffle lmao

  • Thanks for the video review, I'm thinking of buying one of these bolts for my next build, of course I'll probably still put a little lube on the bolt, just can't bring myself to not lube my weapon, even though It sounds like it will be fine without it. Do you think that this bolt, in terms of how It's manufactured, the type of metals used and how It's performed so far, is as good as USGI military bolts used in government rifles?

  • I am interested in this product. The video is pretty compelling I must say. Thanks for posting it. I carry a Bushmaster Superlight A2. Does anyone know if there would be any issue with me purchasing one of these Fail Zero assemblies and just dropping it into my Bushmaster? Many thanks for any replies, and a much appreciated video.

  • I have there bolt carrier group in my Stag

  • Is this the reason why the government did not replace the m4/16 series rifle? Seems logical. With a much improved reliability and theoretically no cleaning necessary (meaning lubrication) there would be no reason to replace a once thought obsolete rifle system even when it first came out.

  • would use say this increases the reliability of the AR platform?

  • I have a Spikes Tactical Nickel Boron BCG that was done by Fail Zero with the same EXO technology. I did a one day carbine tactical course with no lube and ran about 630 rounds. The only malfunctions I had were double feeds due to dirty magazines being dropped on the wet dirty ground. The last 130 rounds were all mag dumps. I already registered for TR Fighting Rifle next month and will be using the same uncleaned/un-lubed BCG to see how it performs.

  • Would it be ok to add a small amount of lube?

  • I can Not say enough about the fail Zero BCG! I use it and videoed my review. I have shoot 1000's of rounds between cleanings. By far one the best investments on my M4 I have made and 1 of the best products to come out. The Fail Zero just keeps on shooting like an Energizer Bunny commercial. No grease, no bleeding CLP, just drop in and squeeze the trigger. When in a combat situation it is good to know that is one last thing to worry about.

BTW ty for this vid to help get the word out!

  • I wish I could afford to burn through 2500-3000 rounds in two days.

  • Do you happen to know what chest harness Russ is using?

  • I need to take Fighting Rifle again...

Is the Fail Zero a coating, or a particular brand of bolt itself?

  • @MitchellCT - A coating.

  • @MitchellCT check out atactv they coat important parts of the firearm for you with this stuff.

  • @MitchellCT Fail Zero is the company, they call the coating/treatment EXO. Details on the FZ wesite. BCG is approximately $250, price fluctuates.

  • I have a few ? does the fail zero bolt & carrier group have (MPI) Magnetic particle inspection testing done to them. And are the bolts (SP) shot peened & (HPT ) High Pressure Tested. There is nothing said about these being done to it. Could you tell me what testing is done to each one. Your products seem to be a good thing. Thanks, yl

  • This system is absolutely incredible! I wish I had this in the desert! Fail Zero is a great alternative to a piston system. My AR runs much smoother now and is effortless to clean which is good and bad. LOL I kind of like cleaning my AR's, gives me an excuse to get away from the wife for a few hours! Now she knows about my fail zero and I can NOT hide anymore.

Thanks for the Vid James it helped me to make up my mind to buy it!

  • Hello James. Thanks for the vid. I also have a FailZero bolt in my MRP but, at most, I've only shot around 200 rounds in a day. Cleaning was easy, using only a rag, brush and elbow grease.

    Questions:

    - In your test, the bolt was only cleaned at the end of the day and none in between?

    - At the end of the day after 1000+ rounds, was any solvent needed in cleaning the entire bolt?

    Thanks again.

  • Hey Mr. Yeager, where have ya been? Miss your vids.hope all is well...

  • Would you personally buy the Fail Zero bolt?

  • @SuperLuigi707 Yes.

  • Haha thats funny. There may be piston drivin AR's out there that are reliable but you can't even compare it to the ak. The piston design for AR type rifles hasn't been perfected yet in my opinion. I'd take an ak-74 anyday over an AR if I was in battle. Compare the weight of the xcr or ruger 556 and there really not that much lighter then a ak type rifle.

  • in your professional opinion is the ruger sr 556 worth the price tag? being as you cant remove the rails. im looking into buying an AR and have been looking hard at the ruger.

  • Get another brand.

  • 0.002% fail rate, sounds good to me

  • Good Video James!

  • Interesting product.

$270 is a bit steep for a bolt carrier group and hammer... Please keep us updated so we know if it's worth it, thanks!

  • Will adding lube to this bolt make it run more reliable/better or was this bolt designed to be run without lube?

  • I heard of products like this when I was in the Marines. But I heard after a long day it melts down, I figure on a really bad day I would have fired off around 1400+ rounds, in the heat of the moment you do not always have the right time to let your rifle cool. But civilian wise this product sounds great. Texas heat and 600-800 hot fired rounds and no need for lube....and no weapon damage. This seems very worth while.

  • James, how many failures did other student in your class have just for comparison?

  • zero to a lot

  • Question for Russ unrelated to Fail Zero. Do you run into problems with your right hand placement being a lefty? I ask because it looks like it is partially covering the ejection port sometimes.

  • or... you could buy an AK

  • Oh yeah they NEVER break.....

If you train hard EVERYTHING breaks.

  • im just saying they practically never jam... you cant say the same for ARs in the dessert

  • I have carried both in the desert and never had an issue.

  • @JamesYeager

well... i know special forces that carry an AK across their back so they have something reliable when their M4 jams...

    i guess its personal prefrence

  • No you don't.

  • ohh yeah...people that have been in the desert typically know how to spell it. If you meant to say "dessert" I bet you are right; ARs won't run when full of strawberry cheescake!

  • @dizzyarmstrong can you make a video firing 1500 rounds in your AK?

  • The Ak has no benefits over modern weapons. Modern rifles are also piston driven and just as reliable. They are lighter, more accurate, modular and have an amazing amount of add ons. The Ak is only reliable. Thats it... It's not accurate at distance, not very light, its not much good for aything other then rag tag reble forces who are very under-funded. It really has no place on the modern battlefield. Even its caliber is now underpowered when compared to modern rifles chambered in 7.62 NATO.

  • You are wrong on so many levels I do not know where to begins.....

  • I know where to begin.

    GO STUDY Before posting yunk.

  • I would begin by getting a grasp on the English language and its proper spelling.

  • Good to know been thinking about improving my AR15 since your last video

  • Thanks James

  • Good stuff, Tactical Response and Rifle Dynamics, two companies I trust for honesty, integrity and selling only 1st rate gear and training.

  • james is the man

  • Good stuff..

I wonder if some of his FTE were due to the way he holds his rifle. His thumb was really close to the ejection port...

    Good stuff James!!!!

  • I believe that the FTE's were ammo related and not the placement of my thumb, or the Fail Zero bolt. Becasue I was using trainning ammo (not reloads and American made) from a couple of different manufactures I can't point to one cause over another. When the gun was running X193 only, it had zero malfunctions.

  • I wonder how many people that train as hard as you guys do are oath-keepers? We are doomed if we have to many people trained like that and would follow any order even against the American people. Case in point the gun confiscations after Katrina.

  • Many!

  • Excellent demonstration of what that bolt can really do in standing up to about as tough conditions as the average civilian will do. New people to guning or old hands, listen to everthing this instuctor says. I've benefitted much more than I can say.

  • cool vid sounds like some good stuff.
