@angelo270696 Yes and no. Given that the greater part of it's existence is the journey to that one fatal point, I prefer to think of it as "committing life." Though I'm sure this perception could easily be turned on its head also. Just what it is doing is kind of metaphysical and in many ways defies logic. Cheers!
@hellsmond Certainly. Or art for living, art for dying, and art for anything in between that you wish to attach to it. I've never seen answers in it, just more questions. It's open to individual perceptions, experiences and interpretations :)
@Selur91 Glad you enjoy my work! No plans at the moment for an exhibition in Spain, but would love to show my work there some day. So far, I have only built about a dozen of these sculptures, almost all are now in private hands. So the best place to see more is on my YouTube channel, I will be uploading some new ones over the next few months, the first (a big mechanical face) in early January. Thanks for your interest my friend, hope you have a great Christmas/new year, Brett.
@Aincircle Thanks for commenting. The sculpture does actually saw itself in half....eventually. The idea of a work which has the sole purpose in life to destroy itself was appealing to me. Thanks also for the compliment Suzie! Cheers, Brett.
merciful to whom? to the piece of wood maybe...not for the saw:)
the saw also need to be fed...if the machine and the saw are used not powered by greed but by need then, and only then the balance is achieved and mercy upheld..
@moonsalam Thankyou my friend for such a thoughtful, articulate, insightful response to the artwork. Your point is noted with much respect. My best wishes to you.
@MechanicalSculptor thank you for your work...art's role is exactly that..to instigate our minds and feelings...and participate in our social evolution by asking the right questions coming out from brilliant artists beauty works:)
...my favorite art form is calligraphy... geometric beauty and fractal formulas...

That's a wonderfully graceful saw movement. If only my efforts on next month's Christmas tree would end up looking so effortless!

This is quite hypnotic and because it's a saw you expect that its cutting, plays with your head a little. Wonderful creations:)
