  • so if you do that it detects 4 gig ram or more on windows xp?

  • Indeed, that's fast but should I pay 300 dollars ?

  • fast as hell...

actualy my pc is 100 times slower than this one

  • @Sutkas Fan me to

  • @SutkasFan Ok guys really? This person just installed windows XP and when you just install it it is blazing fast. AND you can tell this video has been sped up. You ppl are tards

  • @monsterict

    Are you stupid ?

Did you even readed my comment ?

I wroted that my PC is 100 times slower, not that this video is fake or something.

  • @SutkasFan And yes, I did readed your comment. You said "wow, fast as hell" so u thought his was super fAst. I always readed ppls comments

  • @monsterict it's not sped up at all -- it's technology that you're unfamiliar with. Keep an open mind and you'll go much farther in life...

  • @Hardryv I'm only A

12 ... Anyway when I reinstalled windows xp it was just this fast. And I know more tech than you do, loser

  • @Hardryv :) :D

  • this is nice and all. but loading it up with 4 gigs @ $10 a stick. (decent pricing at that!) and the cost of the contraption itself brings the total to around $100. midaswell just get a 32 gig solid state drive

very nice contraption and would love to have one personally to play with. and impressed with the speeds :D

  • So faaaaaaaaaast

  • What is i-RAM?

  • i-RAM is a product from Gigabyte that uses sticks of RAM as a HDD, it has 4 slots and can hold 4GB total. It provides constant power to the RAM to stop it from losing the data when you turn off the PC.

Reading and writing data to RAM is a LOT faster than from a hard disk drive (as proved in the video). Gigabyte have made use of RAM's speeds and created a device that allows the PC to communicate with it as though it were a normal SATA HDD.

I hope this explanation is sufficient :)

  • when i first installed xp on my pc it booted in 4 secs

  • after installing some softwares it took 2 minutes

  • fucking hell thats quick

only prob is that if u run out of battry then ur buggered

  • In response to njipods, the device takes its power from the PC's power supply. The power continues from teh PSU even when you shut down the PC. The only way to turn off the power completely is at the wall socket. In this case the power would then be supplied by the backup battery.

So as long as you leave power going to the PC then your fine :)

  • what so when th pc is running its using the domant rails to power the ram

  • thank you for uploading this but move the beer next time ;)

  • or at least share the wealth...

  • lovin this video!! leave me a comment

    comment me back xd

  • thanks for the vid. hadnt seen anything new with ramdrives in a while.

  • you can get the ramdrive.sys and edit you config.nt just add the line DEVICE=D:\PATH\RAMDRIVE.SYS

    THEN SAVE IT, DUH.

(where i put d put youtr hdd letter.

  • id like to see an ssd try to beat an iram hah

  • tnx man

  • What is the boot time with another sata HD on the controller (only for data)- does it slow down the whole sys??

Tnx (looking to buy one or two of those-just for fun and benchs).

  • Boot times and system access times are unaffected by a second hard drive for data only. The only time you would notice a slowdown would be when you are accessing large amounts of data on that second hard drive.

  • Actually, it's the hard drive. It's made outta RAAAAAAAM.

  • lol beer?? it's 7up

  • haha he has a beer.

  • That's crazy ...and the guy hasn't even installed the chipset drivers yet. That thing must fly with all the drivers updated.

  • awesome vid!!

  • hi all the iram v2 is out isnt it its the bay version or is there another one coming out?

I would like one but 4gb ram and battery is a problem fine for hotswapping files on but not reliable for perm OS i think

  • This is obviously not for relability but I think with the battery on the card it's more than reliable enough. 10 hour downtime? That's more than enough for the users that would be interested in this card.

  • can you explain how you do that or you just want to pose with this video?

  • Don't be lazy, if you wanna learn more than just google "i-ram" you lazy fuck. Do your own homework.

  • I dont think so, It has a lithium ion battery on it to keep it going. If the battery ran out, then you would lose it.

  • It would be difficult to run out the lithium battery if it charges while the computer is on, and saves while the computer is off. So if you go on an extended vacation. Things to consider: 1-Set your computer to sleep mode (not hibernate) 2- set bios to automatically reboot if power is loss. 3- consider a UPS

This would account for 80% of shutdowns & failures in home electricity. BTW- I have one, prepping to install this weekend.

  • :-) There is no need for all that... The card sits in a PCI slot, which is ALWAYS powered, even, when you have your computer turned off..

Of course, if you leave for vacation and unplug the computer from the mains, then you have a problem ;-)

No need to keep the computer always ON, that's plain silly and waste of electricity!

Enjoy the card, it is one amazing piece of gadget to have ;-)

  • That i-ram is crazy fast.

You wouldnt want that battery on it to run out, although it would take long to reinstall xp again.

  • Don't mind these sucker guys, the test you just made was just the test i would have made. i-Ram is really fast...much more faster then SSD, so it seems...thanks for the video

  • How fast would 2 RAIDed i-rams be? if it is even possible.

  • Without looking into it too much - if i-RAM interfaces via SATA then it just might be feasable. The fastest I/O I've seen is from a guy with 9, yes nine, MTron 16GB SSDs (the worlds fastest SSD at the time) in a RAID 0 config. Engadget has the report and benchmarks.

  • The second generation of I RAM is said to use the SATA II connection and use DDR2.

Just image the possible speeds (raid 0 2x 8gb sets)

  • You guys screamin' FAKE are pretty ignorant, as has been said. I have my mouse running that fast on my home computer, and as for the load time... I've seen reviews in PC magazines that back it up. Where I live you can still buy them new, but it costs about $600 AUD to rig one up with 4GB.

  • what did you clikc? i dont see realy what do you did in this video. please explain.

    Device Manager -> and then???

  • nice idea but too expensive right now...but surely it will be someday really cheap and popular way... like SSD disks

  • This is GREAT!!!! YEAH!!!

  • now thats a pretty sick idea 5*

  • google it!! stop posting this on every i-ram video!

  • if i want to ask somethink i post in every video whatever i like..ok???if you have a problem with that Google it!!..ok???a kai psakse sto google gia tin mana sou na breis kana video porno...entaxei poustara????

  • I ram is a pci board that holds up to 4Gb of ram. It uses that ram to act as harddrive. It will speed up the read/write speed for every thing in your computer

  • Is this still limited to 4 x 1 gig sticks? Or can you do 4 x 2 gig yet?

  • It is indeed limited to 4x1GB sticks of RAM.

  • You should stripe 6 of these together. It rocks! But expensive!

  • I-RAM works with asus p5w dh deluxe?

  • KKKKKKKK

  • oh my god! its sooooo fast!!!!

  • my friend has this. i crapped my pants when i saw how fast he loads into games, and loading maps that take a 7.2k RPM drive 3 minutes to load into.

  • hahaha

  • This video is most certainly legit, and I want some I-RAM action in my PC, though not for my OS partition... it's still volatile memory.

  • this video is legit. the iram is actually that fast. you guys are ignorant.

  • Ok. I was also wondering, do you know any place where I can get my hands on some I ram?

  • Froogle?

  • I have one question, were you just installing your windows xp when you started this vid or were you re installing it?

  • This was a fresh install.

  • (First Part) Certainly, the beer was put there propsitally. You can record doing slow moves so it can approuch real moves. Sorry but you have to think a lot more before doing such a thing. the (?) icon has a faster animation too. those baloons on taskbar are accelerated. there are many things that proves the fake video.

  • Haha, you're a riot. The beer was there, because *gasp* I was having a beer! I'm not a director or film editor, this movie came directly off my camcorder and on to Youtube. Apparently your "camera" is not that great then. I used a Camcorder, and as i said before, not a cheap one. Do yourself a favor, before you look like more of an idiot, and go research the i-RAM a bit.

  • Here is another video of the same i-RAM, on a different computer, taken with a different camera. dvdxml.(com)/boot.wmv

I'm not arguing anymore, if you think its a fake then so be it. It astounds me that people can be so stupid, and quick screaming "FAKE! FAKE!"

  • man. youtube got different videos of i-ram. but when i saw this one, i swa thta it was fake too =)

  • Video is not a fake. I-Ram uses cheap ol' system memory like it's a hard drive. Even cheap ol' RAM has data throughput in GIGABYTES PER SECOND, as opposed to megaBITS per second for mechanical hard drive. In short, I-Ram goes as fast as mainboard and cpu allow.

  • oh, and about the boot of windows, everyone who edit videos knows that you can accelerate video when you want, so as deaccelerate. =)

I got an excellent camera so you cant fool me about focus.

Well, i can be wrong but this sounds fake to me.

  • nibbana is right.. =]

the other videos about i-ram seems to be true but this one is fake. the mouse pointer moves too fast, the pointer at dos are faster, camera takes focus 2 fast too. so, that is fake.

thank you voidunknown for being so stupid ;D

  • The mouse pointer moves fast becuase I have a 24" LCD and the resultion was set at 800x600 during the Windows install by default. If you think the DOS pointer was faster, I suggest you look again. Camera takes focus fast becuase that's what happens when you have a $1200 camcorder.

  • How would you explain the XP loading screen slider bar only going 1/4 of the way before showing the windows screen? How would you explain the moving beer bottle at "normal speed?" How do you explain the Windows XP OOBE movie at "normal speed?"

  • Good point! The only time I see that bar sped up is when you're running VMware Workstation with XP... that fucker flies, but it still cycles about 7 times regardless!

  • nice!! i-RAM ftw

  • nice

  • nibbana before you flame him, learn what the video is about? i-ram is basically storage on RAM rather than a HDD because HDD's are slow, but RAM is fast. So windows is installed onto the RAM and then windows can be booted very fast off the RAM, rather than having to boot slowly off a HDD.

  • Yes, but can only hold around 4 gigabytes of space. So you should probably have I RAM with a side HDD to store your stuff on.

  • Do so if it makes you feel better.

  • Instead I doubt that insulting people make you more believable to the community's eyes.

People are free to make their own idea.

  • Maybe the word moron was a bit harsh, I'll admit...

All I was trying to say is do some research and think before you post lies. Just because you don't have a fast computer, doesn't mean they don't exist.

I guess if anything, I should be flattered that you thought it was a hoax!

  • Actually no it is true, its loading this fast, I have one of the few that were made on my computer loads literally this fast.

  • I'd like to say to everybody that this video is obviously untrue: images were speeded up by software. In order to notice that, look at the pointer how quick it goes or simply the way the system loads the BIOS!!!!

  • You are obviously a moron. Did you not look at when I was typing on the screen? How about when I moved the beer? Don't post crap just to post crap and lie to everyone. Do you even know what an i-Ram is? I doubt it...

  • i think the idea is to boot an entire live cd, or run windows just from the ram only. totally security and blazing speed. how cool is that. just create some awesome batch file off of a usb drive to import/export all you software changes.... no trace. no logs. ulitmate security.

  • What are you talking about? A hard disk drive feeds data a lot slower than the processor can handle. Oh what am I saying, MAC still mess around with 1.4GHz CPUs...

  • .... Linux still loads off a harddrive.. or cd (if live distro). Things are still required to be loaded from storage to ram. That's the SLOWEST part of a pc.

  • Thanks ^^

  • What are the specs. of the computer?

  • It's an Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM. The i-RAM has 4GB of PC3200 RAM.

However I have run the same scenario on a P4 2.8GHz with 1GB or RAM and had the same results. It doesn't seem to matter much the speed of the computer.

The hard drive will always be the bottleneck of the PC.
