  • Go to Mayo Clinic's site as they talk about Hoarding as an Obbesive Compulsive Disorder.

  • Ok you said to seek help and that is what I am trying to do. Where is the help???

You can see my vlogs of where I am trying to do this on my own. I have OCD and disposophobia. I am a hoarder.

  • @disposophobic as mentioned go to Mayo Clinic's site as they discuss Hoarding as an Obbesive Compulsive Disorder.

  • @disposophobic Thank you I will look into that soon.

  • OMG!!!! The pdr rioom & kitchen are too much! My grandmom's bathroom sinks are filled with stuff too! Looks like it was once a nice house til she trashed it--even the car looks bad.

Boxing up things just leads to more stuff. My grandmom puts everything in hefty bags & once made my 90 yr old Pop Pop go thru them n the curb in a heat wave because he threw them out by mistake.

  • I have a similar issue the thing for me is where do I start to clean, I mean I had stuff from 3 years in my room I finally got rid of it but I see the mess coming again so I need to clean again. Best of luck

  • She also has or had a storage unit she paid a 100.00 a month for for around 4 years. Its a real shame.

  • Thats what my garage looked like and it was actually my nieces horde. I told her for 7 yrs clean it or Im packing it up and giving it away. After cleaning and oraganizing theres still about 14 storage boxes lined up on storage shelves and she had the nerve to ask weres mine and my husbands box of clothes? I gathered 19 boxes of her dads and moms clothes and she expected me to know were her box of clothes went. Sheesh.

  • This is very typical of the OCD of hoarding! My friend in this video got mad at me for throwing away several of the sections of 10 YEARS of newspapers she had collected! Be glad she even got the boxes organized in the garage as the majority of the hoarders can't!

  • Iknew a guy who saved ketchup packs from burgerking in ziplock bags lol

  • It can get even worse when animals live in the home too. And all the shit, in and out of litter boxes......and food.

  • It is a disease too as discussed at Mayo Clinic site. OCD has many forms and I have one too. Mine is not this one! I'm just the opposite with only enough stuff to carry in the back of a Jeep Cherokee.

  • I guess you are the son of the homeowner. My Dad is far worse and continues to go to the fleamarket 3 days per week, even when the temp is in the

30's here in Delaware. I am the same way as you and love to call myself a Minimalist.........and I tell people about the joys of owning very little, so it doesn't own you! I REFUSE TO BE A SLAVE TO OBJECTS!!!!!!

  • My mom has this same disease, her female friends don't help, they just incourage her too buy more crap, and no one says nothing but me

  • yepp. just like my mom

  • Amazing...I have always been fascinated with the packrat/horde tendancy. I find it disconcerting, and for whatever reason it makes me look at the subject in a very unfavorable light, regardless of what kind of brilliance or kindness they posess. Weird.

  • It is VERY sad and she refuses to get counseling just like anyone else in denial.

  • I know how u feel dude my mom tells me I should die or go to hell, and mistreats me cuz I throw her crap away, and put stuff neatly. And I am a dude.lol

  • You are doing her a favor believe me; however it does no good to argue with these OCDs. They sometimes see this stuff as a security blanket since they usually have very low self esteem. Try to get to go to counseling like Shoppers Annonymous .

  • Scary isn't it? As far as I know she has not done anything to clean it up either.

  • This is a horrible.i just got to clean out a packrat home.24,000lbs of stuff so far.1200 sq ft home.2 kids and two woman. they layered blankets over the cat shit and once that next level got to full to walk a new layer of blankets...11 years worth...crayon writing on the wall about 4 ft from the floor after the living room was done.about three ft to get through the door to the basement.i dont know i just had to see some of this online. this looks nice compared to what i have seen the last 2 days

  • WOW you are right this is nothing compared to that disaster you have described. LOVED to have seen a video of that pack ratting!

  • i dont understand it...the city of minneapolis has all the video...i would like to see a packrat at work over time ya know...like they document there habbit...i dont understand these people...and my mom is a packrat storage unit of stuff and i try to explain to her she dont need it...but she does in her mind

  • My late uncle (brother to my Dad, the Super Mega Packrat) also left a ton of junk. So far I donated 44 sewing machines and 89 bags of golf clubs and there is more to go, among countless other items. There were more machines and clubs donated before I started helping!!

  • 44 sewing machines and 89 bags of golf clubs? That is amazing! Did your uncle sew and play golf or just collect?

  • My uncle might have done a little sewing, but mostly he wanted to resale them for profit. My Dad, at 85, just won't stop getting/finding things!! He drives through parking lots seeking stuff on the ground and while driving down multi-lane roads he pulls over and picks up lost clothing and has me wash it!!

  • How is that 1200 sq. ft home you cleaned out NOW? I admire you for your great efforts!

  • This opened my eyes.
