  • This giant toilet is not the thing top class airlines need. It is like the Titanic with a few choice seats for the wealthy and crowded, inconvenient unpleasantness for the rest of the passengers. There is an obvious reason these monstrosities are not flying at capacity - no need for such.

  • how this is posible

  • there was no point at all to buy tis aircraft it was like in the fleet for like 2 years now its gone, doesnt it cost more to buy it than sell it??

  • @TheAirplanelover

"Air Canada's Airbus A340-500s (C-GKOL, fin 951 and C-GKOM, fin 952) were retired in August 2007 and replaced by Boeing 777-200LRs. They were then leased to TAM Airlines"

  • @riaruh Is air canada going to get the 500's back?

  • @scvs2

Nope. The only new aircraft AC will get are the Boeing 787's ... and that to some time in 2013.

  • @riaruh oh, but aren't these leased out? So what happens when the lease ends? Also will the 787 fly international or just Canada and Us?

  • @scvs2 From what i understand, the A340s were sold.

For info about the 787s its still a long time til AC gets them, so there isn't all the much info about them.

AC is buying the 787s to replace the 767-3s so for SURE the 787s will fly Domestic, Transborder and International routes.

And b/c the 787 has longer range than the 767s they will open up more interational routes for AC to discover.

Hope this helps... but all this info i've goten is from online forms and blogs.

  • @scvs2 why would the 787 only fly canada and US? its range is over 7000NM enough to get to tokyo from toronto

  • @poskyflyer

Yep, your correct. This should open up a lot of more new international routes.

I've herd that they might be sending some to BOM (India) again and maybe have a greater presence in the Middle Eastern (DXB) and Afrcian (JNB) markets.

    That'd be so nice :)

  • @TheAirplanelover

Also, you can see the Star Alliance logo beside the L1 door (the front door on the left-side of the plane)

  • @TheAirplanelover

Actually, yes it is. I recoreded it myslef.

Also, you can see the red maple leaf on the tail when the aircraft is slightly turned.

  • I've been meaning to get around to thanking 'riaruh' for posting this for a while now, too! This video represents my Andy Warhol moment as that is me pushing the aircraft off the gate with several members of the training class you can hear talking sitting atop the paymover.

And, yes, it IS an A340-500. Complete with no bulk hold and the BIG RR Trent turbines. Very quiet and efficient but it's sadly never going to be a B777.

  • @lovelyandbex

Oh really, this bad boy didn't have a bluk? Aw man I would've LOVED to work on this baby!

  • Thanks for capturing this..it has to the ONLY Air Canada A340-500 (exterior) shot on the entire internet! The only proof it ever existed .. are the hordes of photos. But in 2010, photos' are so 20th century!

I'm going to download this and see if I can color correct it, a valuable piece like this needs to be saved.

  • @Starboard76 Hey, wow thank you for the appreciation. Finally someone does! haha

I know, this is my most favourite that I've flimed. Did this while on training 3 years ago (May 2007). I had recently purchased this digital camera and I believe that this was one of the first times I used the video function.

Sorry it couldn't be any more clear.

Again thank you, and hopefully this summer, depending where I work, I can shoot some more footage of the aircrafts @ YYZ.

  • no worries riaruh. I doubt if you knew at the time how important this would be. But look where we are now...yours being the ONLY actual video of the two aircraft.

Those of us who truly appreciate recording civil aviation ....must respect this.

  • nope look it up buddy , air canada had A340-500 and A340-300, i took the A345 to go to hong kong soo ....

  • thats a a340-300 air canada doesnt run any 500's

  • well its a a340-300 if your blind. but its a340-500 if you can see the large rolls royce trent 500 engines and the increased length in fuselage. and air canada used too have two 500's but now they belong to TAM. and they got rid of the 300s to various airlines across the world. just and FYI

  • I know I should remove my comment. AC did run -500's but they retired them. I feel dumb. should've done research b4 I put comments like that.

  • oh its ok lol, just sometimes you get sick of mis informed people. but hey atleast you know something new.

    cheers

  • wwe fan.

  • its not hkg its hhh ( vhhh )

  • IATA: HKG

    ICAO: VHHH

Both are correct, we just use HKG here.

  • Is this the response video for the LOT 767 pushback at YYZ ???

  • which polish 767 pushback?

  • Kahuna9000's YYZ pushback video. Someone mentioned it there in the comments that it should be done the way like this way in your video, Thats all. Nice video.

  • **You posted this over there, didnt you ? And I was just asking you a question, if this was the response video.

From the Kahuna9000's YYZ pushback video.

**check my video response for anyone who wasts to see how its sapposed to be done.***

  • ohh yeah, i think i remember now. man that was a while back. but was it a polish 67? i tought that was air canada too, b/c that lady that pushed it back was in training, and they'd never let a trainee pushback a contract aircraft. do u have the link to it by chance?

  • Also, i say ur collection video... that is some mad aircrafts. i just started mine, so far i have a:

787 dreamliner (house colours), A380 (house colours), air canada a340, westjet 737, amercian airlines 777, etihad a340, british airways 747, and a PIA 747 desert colours.

How much have u spent on ur models? is there somewhere u get reasonable prices from?

  • That's only a fraction of what I have right now... I have around 150 plus 30 is on the way now. Eztoys is one of the best online retailers I use quite often.

  • WOW almost 200? that must be expensive.

where do u keep them all??

  • Yup, almost. I keep them in displaycabinets... Which is quite full right now... It is quite expensive.. Its like drugs, collectors become addicted to it. We buy what we like..

  • Check on the right coloumn where it says *Related videos* the first one from Kahuna9000, its called YYZ pushback, btw its a Ex Lauda 767 (Now Austrian)...Here in dk, the new drivers are being tought by driving with decommissioned aircrafts, and not some contract aircrafts.

  • i dont get it.

i thought that vid shot in toronto,

and it says its a LOT which isnt one of our contracts. however, austrian is.

  • When was the day you filmed this? I wonder if it was the plane I went on hehe

  • yea this was taken Thurs. june 14, around 9:45AM
