Anita Morris is and always will be Carla. If it were not for here the others would not have had the expert guidance on how to play her. Genius is rare but glorious.
Though I am sure no one will ever outdo Ms. Morris, based on the clips available, Penelope Cruz may come very to matching her performance in memorability and talent.
this video does not do the performance justice..i was there ..i saw this historic performance live...as fine as Jane Krakowski was, she is no match for a curvy 6 foot redheaded contortionist...it was extraordinary and brave for its day! You had to be there
I saw it too.....4 times! She was amazing. I also spent the afternoon w/ the cast at a record store when the album was released. Chatted for a while with Anita. She was a sweetheart. The press photographer took my pic with her and sent it to me. Next time I saw the show Anita met me at the stage door and signed the pic. I just found it a few weeks ago! She is sorely missed on Broadway.
WOW, va-va-va-voom! Three Cheers for the late great Anita Morris! The only film had ever seen of her was her work in "Absolute Beginners", that was fantastic, but this blows that one away!
WOW! Even not clear you can see how legendary this was! I had a shot to see this in New York and the person I was with elected to get tickets for 42nd Street instead - which has come here countless times. I've always regretted it - so now I can AT LAST say I at least saw this number. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!
thanks a million for posting this...my history of musical theatre teacher in college is probably crapping his pants right now with all of the gems youtube has offered us to see. thanks again!
I know the New York Public Library videotaped Nine but it's not available to the public. They keep all the videotaped Broadway shows locked up like the gold in Fort Knox. It's a shame they do for I wish they would release them on DVD.
Saw her perform this on Broadway in 1982. Spectacular.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
jane krakowski was MUCH better, she was sex on a stick (or rather an aerial silk to be precise)
this is just a bunch of dull acrobatic positions and an annoying whiny voice,,,, I don't approve
