  • I saw them doing this last year i think it was.. this was in bellevue washington cant remember the street...

  • I agree that there is something fascinating about the pur of an internal combustion engine, especially when dumping, but the point of this technology is to reduce, not necessarily eradicate, our dependence on petroleum. These cars perform, they're environmentally friendly, and the lack of maintenance far out-ways that of any combustion engine on the market today. The least we can do is give it a chance.

  • I like how they call it a GT40. Its NOT a GT40, its a GT. A GT40 was the 1960's LeMans race car. The GT (which is what is in this video) is a production tribute-car to the original GT40's.

    The Tesla's 0-60 = 3.7s

    The GT 0-60 = 3.3s

Tesla top speed = 125 (limited)

    GT top speed = 205+

That guy may know how to make a electric powered car go pretty fast, but he knows NOTHING about REAL cars, like the Ford GT. And he also apparently knows nothing about speed/racing...

  • @B0SSNINE think they're gonna get past 125mph in that parking lot? Most people like to have they're fun going fast at lower speeds in the more useable range, you gotta be pretty crazy to go over 150mph. The GT is probably tuned for the higher speed performance too, so it might not handle as well as the short wheel base tesla in a tighter, lower speed course. We don't know who'll win until we see a showdown! A Telsa is definitely a REAL car.

  • @therotaryrocket That may be true, but my only point is that the GT is faster. ;D

  • Pump gas into a car - 3min. Charge an electric car - 8 hours.

  • @FuhQueToo try 45mins and alot cheaper than gas

  • @FuhQueToo Battery swap stations can swap out entire batteries in less than 2-5 Mins. Also,JFE Holdings is developing "Super Rapid Charging" that will charge an EV's battery to 50% within 3 minutes.

  • Yeah the internal combustion engine maybe 100 years old, and so is the electric motor, its capable of alot so what? most people still think internal combustion engines are cool, and if one good thing came from all the bull keeping us on oil is the fact that we have super advanced gas motors now, they are like musical instruments in their sound, they move air like many musical instruments actually

  • I love these moronic comments by these gearheads, who couldn't live without hearing the revs in their engine. I feel so bad for you. What garbage. The positives of getting off of 100 year old technology, that being piston driven engines and more importantly the oil based products that power these dinosaurs far outweighs the mindless wanting to hear the engine rev and being 'connected' to the car.

What mindless dribble. And if you own Oil company stock....FU parasite.

  • The Tesla was faster on the top gear track than a 911 gt3..

  • looks like a great car, until the battery runs out.

Its not like you can just pull up to the pump and be ready to go in 1 minute. you have to charge this thing forever.

check out the top gear episode on this car.

  • Perhaps they can add an option for the gearheads. A noise button to simulate an engine revving, just to appease that element of idiots.

Next we can work on the noise makers of those other attention seekers, motorcycle riders.

  • the e cars that we have seen so far seem to be stuck on old gutless dc motors. when are you guys going to step it up?

I have an AC 3 phase inrunner motor on my 11lb rc heli that makes 8hp with only 40volts @55,000rpm and It fits in my fist.

the old engine was a .91ci 2 stroke(20oz wieght) 30%nitro 22% oil 48% methenal. it,s about 3.5hp @18000rpm. nitro 2 stroke engines are in ginness as the highest hp to wieght ratio. after the conversion the heli is over 1 lb lighter

  • The Roadster uses an AC induction motor, not a DC motor. That's why the company is called Tesla -- besides inventing AC and being the biggest proponent of AC power for the US electric grid, Nikola Tesla also invented the AC motor.

Roadster Sport does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. You can do that every time. So can your grandma. In order to achieve the 3.6 second 0-60 in a Ford GT, you pretty much have to be a professional test driver. With rare exception, the Tesla would win on the street every time.

  • a peice of shit tesla doesnt stand a chance against ford gt fukin dumasses

  • Look I know i'm responding 2 months later but in reality the Tesla would smoke the Ford GT from 0-100. Now i'm not cheering that because I still love internal combustion with noise and rumble but the reality is this little Tesla is quick and you get all the torque even at 0 rpm. Now its top speed is 125 so after that then yes the GT wins. But isnt the real fun the launch?

  • Two months late and a couple brains cells short too. The Tesla will smoke a GT 0-100? I don't know if you're talking mph or kph but either way it's not even close. Care to share anymore of your wisdom?

    0-100mph

    GT - 7.8 seconds

    Tesla - 12.74 seconds

    0-60mph

    GT - 3.6 seconds

    Tesla - 4.5 seconds

  • Hey buddy thats a Ford GT, not a GT40.

  • Man its so boring in that car.... no noise, nothing, its just no. I'm all for less pollution but this is not the answer.

  • thats what they all say, until you get the exhilarating feeling of being able to hear everything around you, which makes you feel like your going twice as fast

  • Gotta buy one!!!

  • ev is the future

  • so far best tesla roadster video. all vids have shit music in the background and never get a good chance to hear the car and be in the passenger seat like that

    thanks! :)
