ytdsmom is infatuated with Edwards she is on all the video topics repeating her delusions over & over...ytdsmom is probably not even a she considering the affiliation.
You're just like the rest of the selfish, callused right wing that don't see the big picture and the state of the country. Most of you either are looking out for your own pocketbook or looking into the bible to see how this country should be run as if some kind of miracle will just appear and bale us out of this God forsaken war and take care of all of the middle class that is struggling right now. If it doesn't affect you directly, I guess it's not your f##king problem, eh?
Well I do believe in self reliance if that is what you mean. No, I do not look to pandering trial attorneys to solve my problems...I believe in hard work. I do believe in the free market...you know that thing that has brought such amazing prosperity to our country?
Unrestrained laissez faire policies very nearly destroyed the country and destroyed capitalism in the years leading up to 1929. Government intervention by FDR saved American and saved capitalism. Their is an arguement to be made for what you are saying...What credentials does JE have in this regard? Also, assuming that you are right...at what point to you draw the line?
At my company we hire people based on their experience and results....this guy has neither. Unless you consider crap lawsuits against Dr.s good experience. As for me I will take care of my family and community with out expecting to take money from others.
What does "I'm going to fight for your job" mean? Does that mean FORCING business owners to keep people employed they don't need? Does that mean FORCING business owners to pay a certain amount? Does that mean FORCING business owners to keep jobs in America, costing them more? Business owners will simply be forced to raise prices as John Edwards forces them to "keep jobs." Consumers will pay for this thinking in either higher prices for products, or higher taxes.
Most of what Edwards say is generalized "cheerleading" material. He has said he wants to increase minimum wage, which like u said, will increase the cost of most everything. Couple that with his ALREADY promised tax increase for Univ Health Care & the personal bankruptcy courts will bust at the seams.
Read again what you just wrote. You claim to be okay with the higher cost of products & higher taxes. In turn, you say you'll receive better wages & medical care. Where exactly then did you benefit?
Most federal programs do not give what they promise. I wish this wasn't true. However I no longer trust any government official who claims that their program will. I hope you consider Ron Paul. Please check his record and what he says. They are common sense and aligned. Thanks.
If things keep going like they've been, the only "consumers" will be the rich, and I personally wouldn't care if they could get cheap cars and electronics from China and Mexico, while I'm sitting at home with no gas, no job, and no electricity, cooking a raccoon over my fireplace.
ytdsmom: Clinton financed NAFTA. Shows you the times right. ever since Reagan this country has been on a right wing course. Compare Clinton to Republican Eisenhower--Eisenhower looks much more progressive. Ever since 1982 the wealth concentration surged to the top bracket. The gap grows and the American worker suffers. FDR getting my finally out of poverty seems more important then Reagan and Bush getting your rich family richer.
If thats your situation, most likely its your fault. If not, why should it be everyone elses problem anyway? Where in the constitution does it say that others should finance your lack of success?
You're in THAT bad of shape? Where are you living? Bangladesh? Didn't you get a high-school degree? I live in California. Come here and you can EASILY find lots of work that is going to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. That should certainly keep you from eating raccoon. =)
2. Back in May, Edwards stated he worked for a hedge fund to learn about the mortgage industry. He is no longer working with them, but he did receive contributions from individuals who have worked there. He is NOT currently heavily invested with them... misleading statement.
In my lifetime he is the first candidate to truly stand for what I believe in - reigning in the excesses of the big companies and making sure that everyone - no matter who their parents were - gets an equal chance to succeed.
"The War On Terror Is A Bumpersticker" ... words that will live on in infamy LOL .. Hey Mr. Edwards, get a Clue ,, can't afford one ? -- Try Rent-A-Center doofus
k3304: Stop investment globalization. Read Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations" written before large corporations surfaced. He claimed globalization would only work in labor was first globalized. Can you walk b/t US?Mexico boarder w/ the same wages and benefits?
Uh huh. Thats what politicians do. Hillary is the most cowardly and pandering of all of them with Obama 2nd. What rock have you been hiding under. I'm still voting for John Edwards bc he has the best policy bar none.
You seriously need to check your facts. John Edwards is CURRENTLY heavily invested in & involved in a hedge fund/mortgage company that are foreclosing on Katrina victim's homes. How's that for destroying not just the lower class...but the desperate. He's sitting back making millions off of their catastrophe. HE wants to talk about corporations & protecting lower/middle class?Research it....
"pitt" - I've been in the mortg business for several years...I don't believe I'm wrong. Why don't you elaborate? Do you think I just made that up? Secondly, YOU are apparently the one that needs to research a little better. John Edwards is a phony. More to follow....
You know the little pink house Edwards shows in his ad. What he doesn't tell you is that he lived there until he was the ripe old age of "1". They then moved to a nice suburban brick home (you won't see in ads), he attended a major university, etc.
If he wins the election, Edwards threatens to take away the health insurance from members of Congress if they don't pass UHC. Wow! What a way to work with both sides!! That is BLACKMAIL. If he is already throwing around this arrogant attitude during a campaign, my God, what will he do if he's actually elected?
Edwards snickered at the idea of working in a mill & said that 'no one wants to work in a mill their whole life'. How demeaning to people who may not be intelligent enough to attend college & earn a degree. That comment is on a video here on YouTube. And if I hear, "My father worked in a mill" one more time, I think I'll puke.
All these damning bogus accusations why don't you link a reference to back them up...You have no credibility if you did Oboma & ClintoNN would be using them in their desperate attacks right now.
meatybones, while Bill Clinton was signing NAFTA, John Edwards was suing insurance companies and putting doctors out of business. He also voted for the Iraq war along with Hillary.
k3304, eight years of Bush & not one mention by you of his destructive, dishonest, & unconstitutional policies...Now excepting how one sided you are the least you could do is try to back up your bogus slander with references.
JOHN EDWARDS IS WHAT YOU GET AFTER 8 YEARS OF BUSHIT
Obama will sit down and have tea and a polite chat with the robber barons /
Hillary will organize a commission to study the robber barons and delay taking action against them as long as possible in exchange for donations from the robber barons / John Edwards will punch the robber barons in the jaw, knock them in the balls, and force them to pay workers a living wage and stop poisoning the environment

Johnny Edwards said this year "The War on Terror is a Bumpersticker" .. hmmm .. Well Johnny, that so-called bumpersticker just MURDERED Benazir Bhutto today, probably the leading proponent of Democracy in the middle east. John, get a fucking Clue ! .. if you can't afford one (lol) then try Rent-A-Center you moron.
Edwards has never wrapped himself in the flag or tried to flim-flam us with religion. I really don't give a damn about his haircuts. I do give a damn about his policies and ideas. I don't know who you are but you and my brother are both ignorant "utopians."
Never? Look at 6:30 in the video. You don't think this man's campaign controlled the imagery of this video precisely as much as he controls his haircut?
coming to you next: John Edwards solves the problems of unrequited love. The world changes and sometimes that's painful. But the government is not there to take the pain away. It can't. The only power it has is to destroy. They only way it can remove the pain of progress is by destroying progress.
Good thing we got socialist Edwards running. He'll take care of the poor people by making more poor people. If you think companies owe their workers to keep them employed and stay unprofitable, you are just hating the people that make work possible.
This is the GOP's worst nightmare: working families who've HAD ENOUGH, stand up, are mobilized, and VOTE. My read now is Edwards is going to win, then Obama, and Hillary in third.
The polls don't show how totally pissed off people are with the vague campaign of Obama - lets face it, Hope is good but doesn't make a meal and people see Hillary coming a mile away. They won't say it in a poll.

Any guy that finds out his wife has an incurable cancer, and puts personal political ambition, ahead of her health is scum...but then, we already knew this guy was a LOW LIFE LAWYER / ambulance chaser.
He knows that her condition is not good, we ALL know how stress affects/accelerates disease, so he chose to subject her to one of the MOST STRESSFUL events there is, Pres. campaign! SHMUK-O-LA
I think this was her decision not his. Look at what she had to say about not letting this disease stop her from living her life. Did you ever consider she wants him to do this?
This video needs to be shown nationwide by the Edwards campaign. I did something today that I never had before. I donated money to a presidential campaign. Thanks for sharing Mr. Bishops introduction. It was very moving. More people need to see this. I was torn before but I will definately be voting for Edwards now!
I do, however, regret that the camera went wide when it came to John. Nice flags and all but...
Mr Bishop's testimony brought tears to my eyes, and I fully appreciate his sense that this rare opportunity will be squandered by staying the wrong course. One needs to realize these Kuhnian revolutions are going to happen more and more frequently, and that change is the only constant. Who can best navigate the river of change?
If Edwards was genuine about supporting American labor he would leave the CFR. As member, he is supporting the North American Union and the eventual end of borders between the U.S. and it's two neighbors. Globalization is the path to corporate enslavement. It tears down all the few remaining roadblocks that keep a handful of corporations from taking over completely.
What folks seem to miss is that the current trend towards economic globalization couldn't have happened without the involvement of governments. A real free market, that does not favor large corporations would actually give more power to consumers and opportunities to enterprising small businesses. Labor unions would also have more leverage.
If you think one president who supports labor is going to reverse the trend, you're mistaken. Edwards might help out a few people in the short-term to fulfill his campaign promises but the fundamental problem would remain. The more government you have, the more waste, corruption and ineffectiveness there will be and corporations will continue to take advantage, while citizens grow more ignorant and dependent on social programs.
I really don't see how you could possibly believe this. If governments promote globalization then they are wrong, if they are small and weak then they can't stop globalization and they would still be wrong. Your answer seems to be the opposite end, but just as bad. The government can't fix everything, but neither can the "free market" we have to have a middle ground. That is what democratic ideals provide.
You equate small government with being weak. Our U.S. Constitution was never designed to produce a weak government. It was designed to protect citizen' rights, while maintaining enough safeguards to protect and uphold our republican government. Getting rid of unconstitutional, autonomous organizations like the CIA and Federal Reserve would strengthen the federal government. Pulling troops from overseas bases would strengthen our diplomatic standing in the world.
Did you not just say reduce the power of the government above? I just don't guess I understand. Look government has a important role, so does the market. What we need is a government and a market by the people for the people. Not by corporations for corporations. I just do not understand your comments, perhaps I am just too stupid to get it.
What many do not factor in is that right now, current regulatory departments are grossly mismanaging their offices. Subsidies are going to the rich. Lobbyists are having their way. Millions of tax dollars are literally thrown away each year by mismanagement.
One president cannot reform this system but he can start to dismantle it and shift the responsibility of regulation back to the private sector where it belongs. Government cannot manage this stuff. The federal government was never designed to.
aaron, Youtube lost one of my replies but basically I wanted to say that I think we're more or less in agreement that corporations should not wield the power that they currently do. In short, I am arguing that Ron Paul's domestic policy will actually reduce the power of corporations at the most important level, the federal level.
A free market can regulate itself better than the federal government can because any time big business gets involved with the government, it corrupts our political system.
Getting back to the topic of free markets, the federal government would still have the power to regulate how corporations do business overseas. Paul supports international trade but does not support unfair international trade agreements that fill the pockets of executives and steal jobs from ordinary citizens. States would have the ability to regulate businesses locally. This would force businesses to rethink nationwide programs that may be efficient but hurt the environment and local economies.
I think that Ron's plan here is not what most would call freemarket, it is simply a states rights system. I dislike this for a different reason. Just let the states do what ever they like. This seems really good, but it causes more trouble than it solves. This is tempting in the way that segregation was, and in the end about as good of a solution.
If we increase the value of the dollar the companies would not leave. The powerful people this man is really speaking of is the CFR that Edwards promotes. STOP taxes, STOP inflation tax, And STOP letting government solve your problems. Ron Paul 2008 dot com can answer all of your questions!
There is no Guarantee that you will have a job for life! Get use to it and quite complaining. If you had your way, we would still be making horse drawn carrages! The world chances... Either change with it or die crying!
And that's why we need to stop letting corporations lobby the government to force regulation that supports globalization of our economy. We're seeing our jobs and money handed to foreign nations and the quality of goods we buy decrease.
Best way to beat it is to reduce the power and size of the government, which has grown fat and corrupt from corporate interests feeding it.
I was not suggesting we remove government altogether. I'm not in favor of anarchy. We need to scale back the role of the federal government, not its power.
The fundamental problem is that once the federal government starts deciding on what corporations can and cannot do, corporations simply buy the government's favor and that's where we stand now. It will always come back to this until we put the power of regulation into the hands of citizens through state and local government and watchdog groups.
I used to live in Jasper County. Doug was mayor of Baxter at the time, as well as working for Maytag--well, until he was laid off. These are good people who have worked hard--but big business is taking away their hopes, dreams, and futures. I'm glad that they've decided to suppport John Edwards, and it's also because of Doug Bishop and everyone like him that I support John, too.
Ron says deregulate everything. How does this work well. The Free Market brought you illegal immigration, child labor, the great depression, environmental destruction, etc. With a completely free market system this country would have never lasted this long. Don't buy into that bullcrap, please.
aaronbmartin76. Ron Paul in not about deregulation. He is about closing down wasteful, corrupt and irrelevant government agencies. John Edwards can not offer these promises because he is an affiliate member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). His agenda is their agenda. Look it up.
Actually, Ron Paul's main platform is deregulation and his answer to everything is the "free market" which means everything must turn a profit or we don't have it. Look it up. I have looked up this CFR when someone else posted it, I don't know the connection. Oh and Ron Paul cant offer good solutions because he is a member of the GOP, look that up!
aaronbmartin76. John Edwards plays right into the Globalist agenda of one-world government. He is CFR through & through. He will raise our taxes, open the borders and create more government spending. He will take care of Mexico's financial and economical problems. While, our standard of living will continue to deteriorate. Socialism is his answer. Is that what you want?
chappy48. Go to the 'Search' at the top of this page. Type in "John F. Kennedy Assassination" from: Kareem4i. Stop at frame 309. Look at the driver of the car. What is he doing?
The free market guarantees bid rigging, price fixing, insider trading, stock price manipulation, tax cheating, cronyism, bribery, worthless contracts, hidden charges, selling your health and other records, unneeded repairs, and on and on. Got any idea what that costs you every year? A vote for Rupaul will give these criminals a free rein as accountability will disappear along with regulation.
Think of these costs as a tax and maybe it'll sink in.
How did globalist philosophy make us need more workers and Mexico need less workers. Illegal immigration boils down simply to this. We need more workers than we allow to come, and there are no concequences. I wish you would assume that people haven't read because they came to a different conclusion than yours.
Mexico's corruption, lax border security and faulty path-to-legalization policy brought you illegal immigration.
Child labor was brought to you by an era in which the rights of women, minorities and adult labor were not protected either.
There is no definitive consensus on what brought us The Great Depression but many believe that the Federal Reserve's forced monetary inflation was the culprit.
Environmental destruction is brought to you by a federal government that serves the interests of corporations. Case in point, the Bush administration has just denied states' rights to have tighter emissions standards than the long overdo federal standards just released by the EPA.
You and I have no idea what a real free market system would do for this country but I feel strongly that big government's role in playing favorites has had a detrimental effect on this nation and the world.
Another can in point: California had the best public transportation system in the world until the car industry got the largest subsidy of any industry (short of military industrial complex) in the shape the US Interstate Highway system.
Child labor, women's rights, and minorities' rights were impacted by conservatives treating people as groups. They said this group has fewer rights as that group. We, the people (government) grew weary of this anti-Americanism and we said "No more denying rights by dividing America into groups!" Yea!
The Great Depression was caused by the bubble that proceeded it. That's what you get when you have paper money regulated by "experts". You think smart people can take care of you. But they can't get the ramifications of all the little details of everyones' lives. The market place can. Environmental destruction is caused by inefficient consumption -- if govt didn't built highways, we'd still have a great public transportation system.
Actually if industry hadn't of pushed for interstates, we would have a great public transport system. We got them because industry sold Eisenhower on it not because Eisenhower just thought it up on his own. You are looking at the right outcome, but getting the wrong conclusions. Yes interstate killed public transport and that was terrible but it was the market which caused it.
It's not "the market" when the govt subsidizes it. By "the market" we mean people exchanging goods and services unimpeded. Having govt subsidies destroys the market by making an inefficient solution viable.
The highway system started under FDR as his plan to "combat" the GD. He wanted to play Robinhood. Fine. These are the results.
Now we have another govt boondoggle -- ethanol. Could have just left the market alone. That great pub transport system was built by private interests for profit.
I think you and I will just have to disagree. The free market is not any better a solution than socialism. Both are bad. We Americans are in the middle where we should be. Some social safety nets, some free market enterprise. The "free market" has been fairly horrible with or without subsidy on many occasions. And subsidies have been able to make what was the best solution long term viable in many situations. Respect with disagreement.
I will not agree that the middle in which we find ourselves is sustainable. We have become so inefficient that we have to rely on China to produce most of what we consume. It's been a long road. Had we not opened China, we would have collapsed 20-30 years ago. You seem to be clinging to status quo. That's fear. You think we have a working model. But you don't realize that while collapse is sudden, the road to it is gradual. And all indicators point to the fact that we are on that road.
I agree about the collapse and China and all of that, but that was not produced by the middle ground I advocate. That was produced by deregulation and too much power by the special interests and business world. I do not agree that we needed to have China produce our products, I am not happy with the system and I am everything but afraid. I just realize a totally opposite and in my view correct solution to what you do.
Why do you believe that your solutions is workable? Again, examples of these solutions temporarily working in others countries are not a good justification. Soviet Union took 70 years to bankrupt Russia -- the richest country of the world in 1913.
On a side note, why do you believe it is ethical? Is it not premised on the assumption that the government own what you make and decides how much of it you get to keep?
Do you really think that what I am talking about is socialism or communism. No it is the American system. The one we prospered under thoughout the last century. The one that guys like Reagan and the Bushes have screwed up. I am not talking about communism. Government does not have all the answers but neither does the market. I am done now.
Not only do I not think so. I didn't even say so. I do think that your notion of middle ground is too vague. A good argument could be made that the market itself is a middle ground between those who need stuff and those who managed to make it. But that's a different story.
The reason I referred to the Soviet Union was to show that inefficient system don't destroy prosperity overnight. They take a long time.
Rise in prosperity is propelled by rise in efficiency. THAT is why the middle 20th century US did well. But why do you think it couldn't have done better with LBJ? Have you seen a poverty rate graph?
That's simply not true. Russia was exporting bread to most of Europe and was very industrial to boot. It was quite wealthy until the devastation of WWI (which started in 1913).
no you are simply wrong. both pre and post 1913 russia was an undeveloped empire made up mostly of illiterate peasants. the gdp of russia in 1913 was about 200 000 million modern day dollars and about 1549 modern day dollars per capita.
The free market has caused most of the problems that now exist in this country. The free market is totally overrated. No one, not even the "experts," have ever profited from the "free" market.
B-b-but Rupaul has SERIOUS problems with the 14th and 15th Amendments! The oath is to protect and defend the Constitution. How can he take the oath in good faith?
the Multi National Corporations who control the govt, Ask yourself why are the Media Conglomorates only feeding us hype on the Corporate picked front runners? Edwards scares the crap out of the CEO class
If I have to vote on Party lines, which is likely, Edwards seems the best of that bunch. Don't be fooled though, Edwards can't fix everything. But if he is truely sincere... and works in keeping with the constitution and listens to Al Gore...
Edwards is better that the other front runners, but he has a terrible record and many terrible policies (I will elaborate if you want) Vote Kucinich. He is the only perfect canidate, with an untouchable record AND policies.
The unions gave us the 40 hour work week, prohibited child labor, gave us OSHA. I don't know what you do for a living, but the American Dream is not being destroyed by Unions or the Democratic party. Hopefully, under Edwards, the unions will once again have the power to take care of the "little people."
Edwards is in big trouble. He apparently has impregnated one of his campaign workers. This low life has been cheating on his sick and dying wife. There was a time unions were good but those days are gone. All they do now is cheer for the democRAT party. I don't know where you live but child labor was forbidden before the unions in the US.
I read about that. It's gossip magazine crap. Another man is claiming that he's the father. But if you read the National Enquirer, well, you must still believe you'll find WMD's in Iraq.
Edwards is going down man! Hitlery will finish him off after she gets rid of the cocaine snorting Puff the macic negro. And by the way you are wrong Edwards is the baby daddy its breaking news put out by the Clintons.
Yep, mmm413. Brought to you by the guy wrapped in most flags and having the best haircut. All he is missing is the little Charlie Chaplin mustache. And then he'll look like a true leader of a National Socialist Workers' Party of America.
No, no it isn't. Twenty of the last Twenty Eight years have been Republican't and it shows. Unions are not perfect, they must be watched just like corp. But my friend they are necessary, without unions and gov regulation our country wouldn't have even made it into the 20th much less 21st century.
John Edwards is president of the (ACU)ambulance chasers union. He is not presidential material and you can ask his hair dresser because only she knows.
No way, the media is doing everything to keep Edwards out of the press and get Clinton in power. Clinton and Edwards are on opposite ends of the playing field. Clinton is power and money, Edwards is people.
The MSM want either Clinton or Obama to win these early primaries. The MSM is terrified of Edwards. This country (sadly to say) is not ready for a woman or an African-American be president. And especially not this woman. The Clintons are are open sore on the country. I don't think they deserve it. But the media will eat Hillary alive.
i'm going to be late for work for watching this but who cares. Inside the label of the work shirt says "edwards". it has nothing to do with john here, but still pretty cool. Go John Go, I can't wait to vote for you on March 4th (damn Texas primary)
Really good stuff. You can feel the authenticity. I can't say Edwards is the savior, but anyone cultivating this movement to stop trade agreements that are only enriching fly-by-night exectutives and enpoverishing the rest of us, and the environment, I'm sure as hell going to give that candidate a shot. He's the only one speaking to me, it seems.
John Edwards understands what working for the people truly means, he understands what our constitution is all about, and he is the only one that I would trust to work for the people.
John you've always had my vote, because I know that you are a man of your word.
We are the people, and we do want change, and you are our only hope. "EDWARDS 08"
I actually cried while I listened to Doug's conversation with us. Thats what Doug was having, a conversation. We hold celebrities, sports stars, and war heroes so high. We need to start holding eachother, the working Americans high. Lets hear it for the bottom 250 Million, not the top 50 Million.

3. Doctors losing their business due to lawsuits is a common consequence for reckless professional errors.
4. Edwards did grow up poor. His father worked in textiles and John was the first member of the family to graduate from college.
5. Edwards voted for the war, but he later openly admitted to his mistake, and he has the most bold, concrete, and detailed plan for withdrawal.

If Edwards was genuine about supporting American labor he would leave the CFR. As member, he is supporting the North American Union and the eventual end of borders between the U.S. and it's two neighbors. Globalization is the path to corporate enslavement. It tears down all the few remaining roadblocks that keep a handful of corporations from taking over completely.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
A free marketeer who's against globalisation? Had to be a Pauler.
MarquisdeBarrabas 4 years ago 2
What folks seem to miss is that the current trend towards economic globalization couldn't have happened without the involvement of governments. A real free market, that does not favor large corporations would actually give more power to consumers and opportunities to enterprising small businesses. Labor unions would also have more leverage.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
If you think one president who supports labor is going to reverse the trend, you're mistaken. Edwards might help out a few people in the short-term to fulfill his campaign promises but the fundamental problem would remain. The more government you have, the more waste, corruption and ineffectiveness there will be and corporations will continue to take advantage, while citizens grow more ignorant and dependent on social programs.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
I really don't see how you could possibly believe this. If governments promote globalization then they are wrong, if they are small and weak then they can't stop globalization and they would still be wrong. Your answer seems to be the opposite end, but just as bad. The government can't fix everything, but neither can the "free market" we have to have a middle ground. That is what democratic ideals provide.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
You equate small government with being weak. Our U.S. Constitution was never designed to produce a weak government. It was designed to protect citizen' rights, while maintaining enough safeguards to protect and uphold our republican government. Getting rid of unconstitutional, autonomous organizations like the CIA and Federal Reserve would strengthen the federal government. Pulling troops from overseas bases would strengthen our diplomatic standing in the world.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
Did you not just say reduce the power of the government above? I just don't guess I understand. Look government has a important role, so does the market. What we need is a government and a market by the people for the people. Not by corporations for corporations. I just do not understand your comments, perhaps I am just too stupid to get it.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago 2
What many do not factor in is that right now, current regulatory departments are grossly mismanaging their offices. Subsidies are going to the rich. Lobbyists are having their way. Millions of tax dollars are literally thrown away each year by mismanagement.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
One president cannot reform this system but he can start to dismantle it and shift the responsibility of regulation back to the private sector where it belongs. Government cannot manage this stuff. The federal government was never designed to.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
aaron, Youtube lost one of my replies but basically I wanted to say that I think we're more or less in agreement that corporations should not wield the power that they currently do. In short, I am arguing that Ron Paul's domestic policy will actually reduce the power of corporations at the most important level, the federal level.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
A free market can regulate itself better than the federal government can because any time big business gets involved with the government, it corrupts our political system.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
Getting back to the topic of free markets, the federal government would still have the power to regulate how corporations do business overseas. Paul supports international trade but does not support unfair international trade agreements that fill the pockets of executives and steal jobs from ordinary citizens. States would have the ability to regulate businesses locally. This would force businesses to rethink nationwide programs that may be efficient but hurt the environment and local economies.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
I think that Ron's plan here is not what most would call freemarket, it is simply a states rights system. I dislike this for a different reason. Just let the states do what ever they like. This seems really good, but it causes more trouble than it solves. This is tempting in the way that segregation was, and in the end about as good of a solution.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
If we increase the value of the dollar the companies would not leave. The powerful people this man is really speaking of is the CFR that Edwards promotes. STOP taxes, STOP inflation tax, And STOP letting government solve your problems. Ron Paul 2008 dot com can answer all of your questions!

semiliteratedgod 4 years ago 2
And that's why we need to stop letting corporations lobby the government to force regulation that supports globalization of our economy. We're seeing our jobs and money handed to foreign nations and the quality of goods we buy decrease.
Best way to beat it is to reduce the power and size of the government, which has grown fat and corrupt from corporate interests feeding it.

gimpusmons 4 years ago
"And that's why we need to stop letting corporations lobby the government"
And how are you going to do that? Not through more legislation, I hope.
Of course you can remove the government from the equation altogether - which would give corporations even more leeway and solve absolutely nothing.
Good luck with your leg, by the way.
MarquisdeBarrabas 4 years ago
I was not suggesting we remove government altogether. I'm not in favor of anarchy. We need to scale back the role of the federal government, not its power.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
The fundamental problem is that once the federal government starts deciding on what corporations can and cannot do, corporations simply buy the government's favor and that's where we stand now. It will always come back to this until we put the power of regulation into the hands of citizens through state and local government and watchdog groups.

Globalist philosophy brought us illegal immigration, not the free market society. Try reading on the subject before you speak.
FiliusMagogorum 4 years ago
How did globalist philosophy make us need more workers and Mexico need less workers. Illegal immigration boils down simply to this. We need more workers than we allow to come, and there are no concequences. I wish you would assume that people haven't read because they came to a different conclusion than yours.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
free trade isnt free trade
zdwade 4 years ago
You're the one spouting bullcrap aaron.
Mexico's corruption, lax border security and faulty path-to-legalization policy brought you illegal immigration.
Child labor was brought to you by an era in which the rights of women, minorities and adult labor were not protected either.
There is no definitive consensus on what brought us The Great Depression but many believe that the Federal Reserve's forced monetary inflation was the culprit.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
Environmental destruction is brought to you by a federal government that serves the interests of corporations. Case in point, the Bush administration has just denied states' rights to have tighter emissions standards than the long overdo federal standards just released by the EPA.
You and I have no idea what a real free market system would do for this country but I feel strongly that big government's role in playing favorites has had a detrimental effect on this nation and the world.
gimpusmons 4 years ago
Another can in point: California had the best public transportation system in the world until the car industry got the largest subsidy of any industry (short of military industrial complex) in the shape the US Interstate Highway system.
docmoriarti 4 years ago
Child labor, women's rights, and minorities' rights were impacted by conservatives treating people as groups. They said this group has fewer rights as that group. We, the people (government) grew weary of this anti-Americanism and we said "No more denying rights by dividing America into groups!" Yea!
armadilloze 4 years ago
The Great Depression was caused by the bubble that proceeded it. That's what you get when you have paper money regulated by "experts". You think smart people can take care of you. But they can't get the ramifications of all the little details of everyones' lives. The market place can. Environmental destruction is caused by inefficient consumption -- if govt didn't built highways, we'd still have a great public transportation system.
docmoriarti 4 years ago
Actually if industry hadn't of pushed for interstates, we would have a great public transport system. We got them because industry sold Eisenhower on it not because Eisenhower just thought it up on his own. You are looking at the right outcome, but getting the wrong conclusions. Yes interstate killed public transport and that was terrible but it was the market which caused it.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
It's not "the market" when the govt subsidizes it. By "the market" we mean people exchanging goods and services unimpeded. Having govt subsidies destroys the market by making an inefficient solution viable.
The highway system started under FDR as his plan to "combat" the GD. He wanted to play Robinhood. Fine. These are the results.
Now we have another govt boondoggle -- ethanol. Could have just left the market alone. That great pub transport system was built by private interests for profit.
docmoriarti 4 years ago
I think you and I will just have to disagree. The free market is not any better a solution than socialism. Both are bad. We Americans are in the middle where we should be. Some social safety nets, some free market enterprise. The "free market" has been fairly horrible with or without subsidy on many occasions. And subsidies have been able to make what was the best solution long term viable in many situations. Respect with disagreement.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
I will not agree that the middle in which we find ourselves is sustainable. We have become so inefficient that we have to rely on China to produce most of what we consume. It's been a long road. Had we not opened China, we would have collapsed 20-30 years ago. You seem to be clinging to status quo. That's fear. You think we have a working model. But you don't realize that while collapse is sudden, the road to it is gradual. And all indicators point to the fact that we are on that road.
docmoriarti 4 years ago
I agree about the collapse and China and all of that, but that was not produced by the middle ground I advocate. That was produced by deregulation and too much power by the special interests and business world. I do not agree that we needed to have China produce our products, I am not happy with the system and I am everything but afraid. I just realize a totally opposite and in my view correct solution to what you do.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
Why do you believe that your solutions is workable? Again, examples of these solutions temporarily working in others countries are not a good justification. Soviet Union took 70 years to bankrupt Russia -- the richest country of the world in 1913.
On a side note, why do you believe it is ethical? Is it not premised on the assumption that the government own what you make and decides how much of it you get to keep?
docmoriarti 4 years ago
Do you really think that what I am talking about is socialism or communism. No it is the American system. The one we prospered under thoughout the last century. The one that guys like Reagan and the Bushes have screwed up. I am not talking about communism. Government does not have all the answers but neither does the market. I am done now.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
Not only do I not think so. I didn't even say so. I do think that your notion of middle ground is too vague. A good argument could be made that the market itself is a middle ground between those who need stuff and those who managed to make it. But that's a different story.
The reason I referred to the Soviet Union was to show that inefficient system don't destroy prosperity overnight. They take a long time.
docmoriarti 4 years ago

thats what it takes to win the overall election 2 opposite ends of the same party coming together.
I don't agree with it but thats just the way it is

The MSM want either Clinton or Obama to win these early primaries. The MSM is terrified of Edwards. This country (sadly to say) is not ready for a woman or an African-American be president. And especially not this woman. The Clintons are are open sore on the country. I don't think they deserve it. But the media will eat Hillary alive.
