What would be interesting to see is these bumpers submitted to crash tests from different angles and different speeds and compare results. Because in my book I'll consider that before "how it looks" and "how long it takes to install", as well as "how much it costs". Thanks for the vid anyway.
@machintruc313 The only FJC aftermarket bumper that we are aware of that has been crash tested is the ARB. You may be able to reach out to them and get the results.
@txtallywhacker Sorry you felt that way... Both bumpers have their advantages and disadvantages. We have run both. It comes down what you are planning to do with your rig and personal preference for the look you are going for with your build. Thanks for the comment.

another great bumper for the FJ is one by Body Armor. made from aluminium only weighs 70 pounds, bolt on installation, not cutting or grinding. allows up to a 9k winch and doesn't stick out any further than the stock fascias
@lastgreatroadtrip however, this is a good video explaining the differences between these two types of bumpers. Also, after reviewing the ARB's specifications, while just strong enough (weight to strength ratio) For the wheeling I do (middle of the woods, mud... high strength needed situations) I'd suggest a 3/16 or thicker bumper. Some guys I know put tubes INTO their steel bumpers to increase their strength. The tubes resist collapse, making the bumper more rigid.
i geuss im going toget into mettal bumper building becuz bumpers are out ragous i mean the metal and material to build a pipe bumper with winch mount and hooks and brush and light gaurds can be built close to 300 bucks dependin if u have a welderin cuttin torch /plasma and grinder nice fj's thou

Honestly, In my opinion, I'd stick with the ARB, because thats one they use in the outback alot... they are designed to take animal impacts.

@mediarocker543 Thanks for the comment... You are right, ARB is designed and built in Australasia with trekking the Outback in mind.
