Great playing. I have one question though, how much would you prepare beforehand for a performance like this? for example, when you play the descending chromatic dominant chords at about 1:58, did you plan that beforehand or come up with it on the spot? great playing either way of course.
this is so nice, is there any chance to get this sheet? i really would like to playe this song, but i'm is still learning to play jazz and this arrengement is beatiful.
BRAVO!!!!! man, this is some good stuff. you talking about somebody smiling ALL the way through the chord changes, yes i was!! i spoke with you about 2 years ago, but i still get the goose bumps when i hear this!!
@Noahconstricto You can buy the DVD from Doug's website. I bought it about a month ago. It's worth so much more than he charges for it. You won't regret it.
Very nice! The surprise chord (deceptive cadence) at the end is always a nice touch. Some of my favorite arrangements of Christmas music include Michael Buble's "I'll be Home for Christmas".
how do you know which notes are accented and what dynamics to play? i noticed that there is a lot of dynamic contrast when you play, but i didn't see any markings in the music itself. are you just self-interpreting it?
@t3rr4n He is exporting what he is playing through midi. The whole thing was arranged by him and the dynamics chosen by himself. He is using the Jazz method of playing piano.
This is sooo beautiful, would you mind to send me this sheetmusic, because i would like to play it this christmas in a hotel who asked me to play on christmas evening
I play this tune every time 'round Xmas but have never been able to vary it much since I can't get outta the box like this version does so effortlessly.
@jazz2511 is there anyway you could send me the sheet music for this? It is SO beautiful but I only know how to read music and I have very little ear training.
Thanks once again for this sweet and logical harmonic adventure. No one does this kind of stuff better than you. What a resource! I've told my students to check you out here on Youtube.
This is just what we need to develop our art of jazz: Intelligent musical input with explanations. Thank you! Is there anyway to make the chord symbols bigger? I can't read them all.
Great system of showing the sheet music notation - it helps those of us who are wondering how the hell we'll ever get near yours and 7NoteMode's level to get an idea of how to begin playing this. Can I get a copy of the written notation somehow?? Thanks.
Once again, world class! Our band is playing a version of this at church on Sunday, I now feel distinctly average myself ;-) Love the innovative chord voicings by the way, and also the gentle ending. Another great example of how less is indeed more.
Hi Doug, Fantastic Arrangement and Quite Beautiful Played. The technique that you use with Band-in-a-Box , I think is the best on Youtube.
Before I used VanBasco keys, but after I noticed that it does not show all notes I hav played, so I decided to publish only the videos with the music. But however, if someone ask me for the midifile, I will sending via emails.
chord progressions are nice

And theres always that feeling that you've even more to give. 5 stars!
