The airy tone is one quality that is asked for in flute timbre. The other more commonly asked for timbre is the clear, stronger/richer tone which is beautiful. She's not playing BAD because of that, no just a different style.

She probably hasn't trained for the rich timbre yet, which takes YEARS to learn well.

I am impressed that she could play airy tone style on piccolo and in tune so well! That combo is difficult. Her flute intonation was pretty good too, and she has good posture.

I would like to point out that she has a prominent tear-drop in her upper lip, so she's having to play off-center which isn't all that easy to do.

Not trying to tear into you cus Ive been in ur shoes as a newbe piccolo. I would sugest trying to control the size of the hole your mouth makes. Play around making it bigger and smaller. Listen for your sound to clear up and then practice that position.

@Michelle12121996 NO YOU DON'T!!!! My piccolo as a metal head joint and plastic body. It's not the best one ever, but I love it and it sounds lovely. However, every single full metal piccolo I've ever played sounds horrendous and I wanted to crush it into a fine powder. My piccolo needed the pads replaced and I had to use a metal piccolo owned by the school...... I thought I was going to kill myself.

I love how people can't help themselves but find fault with each others playing. I've always felt that flute players are less supportive of each other than other instruments I've played.
