This OP looks like an early trial of the computer aided animation techniques that are standard today, like digital ink and paint and 3D modeling. The staff might have simplified the character designs because they considered this an experiment.

@drakkina08 This series has absolutely nothing to do with CLAMP. The only connection the show has with CLAMP is the ANIMATION character designer is the same for Shamanic Princess and the anime adaptation of CLAMP's manga, Magic Knight Rayearth.

So, Shamanic Princess is NOT a co-production with CLAMP. Atsuko Ishida is just an animation character designer that happened to do the animation character designs for MKR. Atsuko Ishida did not do the original character designs for MKR, just the ones for the animation.

Honestly, I have the DVD and the actual story is a little confusing.

Basically two magical princess from some kind of magical dimension posing as schoolgirls in some European country to fight bad magical guys to get some kind of magical thing.

Actually, that's true.

Some anime use different animators for the opening. I think the designs are supposed to be a little more upbeat than in the actual show, to match the upbeat song.

I love this song, I love the series, but the more I see the opening the more I think... that song just does not fit. It has such a happy sound to it and the OVA is slightly darker, but that is okay, because I still love it!
