Heh - we used to do "freeze distillation" with homebrew when we were kids. Who knew we were pioneers..? Also, loving the irony of you replacing the ice that was so carefully removed.
One of my local places has a rotating BrewDog cask, I hope one day they get this stuff... After having the Paradox, I can only imagine what this is like...
WHAT?! You, of all people, put ice in their whisky? *sigh* I love the aromas of whisky too much to sacrifice them by puting a chunk of ice in it. Water only for me.
SA Utopias was previously the strongest beer in the world before TNP. It could easily top TNP if it used ice distilation, but it achieves its strength through yeast fermentation only. I really want to try TNP, but I doubt I'll ever get the chance.
Yeah, it's fairly barbaric, I know, but I enjoy it.
I'm pretty sure that Utopias picks up some of its strength from multiple barrel ageing - I don't thnk there is any yeast that can ferment much beyond the high teens abv.
I was amazed when I saw the official Brew Dog video showing the making of this beer. You should post these videos as a video response to their's here on youtube. I'm sure they love the publicity.
I'm not sure what a 32% ABV beer would taste or feel like. The highest I've had was Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA (21%).
Good to see someone share and review this beer. I read about it not too long ago and was quite intrigued. Sounds like a steroid version of Bourbon County Stout (replacing the bourbon with scotch of course). Thanks for the video posts.
Thanks!

@yfenbjae - where in the US are you? Try emailing BrewDog - they are a very open and helpful company

He's also an advocate for the over-sized wine glass, aka big, bulbous, burgundy when he does his video beer reviews.

It's much more spirity/liqueur-like than BCS - it is 32%abv, after al! There's no mistaking it for a beer of any kind.

Again, like I said in part 2. Great stuff.
