I remember Jackie very well.He was a rare talent, with a fantastic voice. He left us way to young, but, those of us who knew Jackie Wilson will never forget.
Brilliant performer. His sister had a fantastic voice as well. He was considered a master showman, one of the most dynamic singers and performers in R&B and rock history. He went solo in 1957 and recorded over 50 hit singles that spanned R&B, pop, soul, doo-wop and easy listening. During a 1975 benefit concert, he collapsed on-stage from a heart attack and subsequently fell into a coma that persisted for nearly nine years until his death in 1984.
What happened to all the great, classy black entertainers up through the 50s and 60s? More class in Jackie Wilson than in all of the bonehead rappers put together. These black singers taught all of us white guys how to shake. What they taught us was passion. They are gone, and what is left is not worth listening to.
Look at the way he moves and his vocals. This is who Elvis copied from. This is why I do not like Elvis, and white folks call him the king. Please! The copycat.
I noticed that Jacki Wilson dances the same way Elvis Presley does , see Elvis sing Bossanova.. and notice the dance moves , very similar and Very classy..
Jackie Wilson is the greatest of them all and now will live on forever as he should on youtube, for everyone to savor and enjoy a great singer who never got deserved acclaim in his lifetime...solid classic "Lonely Teardrops" is timeless and one to enjoy over and over...Bravo Jackie, miss you and RIP great one...
@blueneptun1 I think that Jackie Wilson was extremely talented, a great singer and a great dancer. One of the best ! I saw him about 50 years ago performing in person. Fantastic.
Giving him or Michael Jackson credit for inventing the Moonwalk though, does a dis-service for decades of talented vaudville and night club dancers that came before them and did the same basic move. It was an old step even when Jackie was performing on stage.
Check these out on YOUTUBE--Origins of the Moonwalk
@shakybest Michael Jackson didn't create the moonwalk. From what I know, he was taught. People were doing it everywhere and he liked it so he picked up on it and made it famous worldwide.

@ValentinoBrown Cab Calloway did the moonwalk in 1933!
zeke1312 1 month ago
@zeke1312 Wow. Well there you have it. Even today, current generation dances are just moves picked up from earlier days and renamed something else.
ValentinoBrown 1 month ago
@shakybest Incorrect. The moon walk actually began with the French mime Marceau Marceau, and Michael Jackson was taught by a break dancer.
