@phononut as of six months ago yes, I would have bet. At any length, thanks for the upload and cheeky comment that totally let me (and anyone who cared) that your video existed.
This song helped me discovered Jean Ritchie. I bought a cd, with songs from the Appalachian. I listen to this song, transfixed. It was powerfully moving, I looked at the name and went after every single cd she has. She has a lovely wonderful spirit which remains ever young, her voice remains always young also.

What's with all the mining "crisises"? We know that oil rig was set ablaze. It was sabotage because Obama needs illegals to vote for him. The climategate alternative energy scam employs illegals more than the petrolium industry. That is why Obama sabotaged off shore drilling.
boring ass fucking explanation for the song, the title is fairly clear... but still cool for some reason, reminds me of wreck of the edmund fitzgerald.
Wonderful Song! I'm from a coal mining family, and I have one son-in-law working in the mines, and one son-in-law is a Federal Coal Mine Inspector. The mine roof caved in on me in 1982 and broke my back. I have been in a wheelchair since. I loved working in the mines, and wish I could still work in them. Thanks!!
Beautiful song. Reminds me of my grandma telling me the story of
having to go to the mine just outside town. It was on a Sat. morn. My
grandpaw was killed in a rockfall. My dad was 13. He worked all his life in the mine and is 77 now. we both have black Iung.I worked in them till they shut down here in Ark and Okl. in 83. Now i hear they reopened a mine just south of here that was shut down in 1947. I fear a tragedy soon. It's a Non union mine. I pray for all miners and their familys. Marlin
You Got All of my Respect From Former YUGOSLAVIA , if it means anything,, i aprecciate all the work you miners have made, alll , the ,simplicity you have , and comradship and above all RIP to your granpaw , he is in heaven like all the other miners, for you have a pure heart!. SREČNO!!!
thank you for your kind words. you know, if i were able, i'd still be working in the mines. there is something that lures you to it. it is hard work, but the most peaceful feeling i ever had was lying in a dry pile of slack in the intake air. i turned off my light, i could hear the hissing of the gas coming out of the face of the coal. totally quiet, except the cool breeze and gas bubbling in the water in the low places.total peace no distractions, so relaxing i wish i was there right now thanks
you are very welcome,, i allways have kind words for miners , for you are really Hearted Man , it is not just about work but also about Togetherness and willingness to fight for your felow man,and even your country who doesnt show enough respect!!oh and i know you would go back to work anyday, that is the way you are made.you dont cry you just work, that is what is so graceful to me,im young myself and i hate people nowadays they all just whine all day, but you
who had the hardest work were smiling and joyfull all the time, just being with friends even if it meant sweat blood and tears, and the thing about peacfullness, and just chilling down there, you wrote, made my day before i go to work,.i wish i was living in another time, and i had the balls to be undeground like my granparents , but sadly im to cowardly.oh and can you tell me about the non union mine that opened ,, is it really pretty more unsafe that union mines
