Ford is an American company with some of its development in Europe.
If this Focus RS 500 would have been engineered and manufactured in the U.S. it wouldn't be anywhere near what this car is.
'The American way' is to produce at the lowest cost possible and then spend a fortune on commercials in order to sell whatever has come out of the factories. Nothing wrong with that perhaps, but one of the results is that Europeans nowadays buy very few cars produced in the USA.
@icsunonove72 The post-bailout cars from the Big Three have all been fantastic. Granted, most of them will never see the European market, but the age of shoddy quality American cars is over. In fact, most car stereotypes are untrue. Nowadays: German cars are the most unreliable, American and Malaysian cars are the best value, Japanese cars are mediocre, Italian cars are reliable and the Mustang is now a sports coupe, not a muscle car.
suppose it looks alright and i've heard that these hot focus don't got to bad .........but I feel ford are living off the name off the legend of the true rs500 name that was the sierra cosworth rs500.Lets be honest ford bandy the rs500 name around like dog poo !!! its only a couple of years ago that we had an rs 500 fiesta !!!! stickers, alloys and god for bid ....bluetooth !!! hardly the same as world touring car champions like the sierra !! fords nowadays are a little, dare I say it......chav!!
I despise Ford for not letting me purchase this car here. But then again my car is faster, has more torque and I don't have to worry about spending 80 fuckin' quid on a gallon of gasoline. That being said, I'd still love to buy this car. If it ever comes here I'm one of the first in line. RS, ST, whatever, any variant they bring over here I'm all over it.
Sad how Europe gets the better American cars and United States doesn't...This Focus RS would be a true competitor against the Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback if it was an AWD. Car companies should just sell any production car no matter what region it was made in, they don't how much their car sales would rise up dramatically.
@TooleralusAEnima you should be getting the focus rs or atleast thats what was said in a interview i see with one of the heads on ford usa (sorry cant find the link to that vid) though the rs500 was limited and they only made 101 cars, all sold on pre-order. however u can buy a "mountune Focus RS MP350" upgrade pack which has everything from the rs500.. heres a review on the mountune watch?v=xLIcsOOUqkY&feature=fvst
WTF, this is all we get in this video. What a waste of time. How am i sopposed to want to buy this car just by looking at it driving. No interior shots, this could have a twin turbo V12 and I wouldnt know, it doesnt say hp, gearbox, specs, nothing.
@turbo311 -----Probably never, the technique of painting is much more difficult than with ordinary paint (need a special chamber) and maintained in good condition, matte is not so easy!
Its still an American company therefore making an American car. No? Doesn't matter if it was built in Europe first. Cars nowadays are built around the world. Toyota Corolla are built in the states does it make it an American car? No. Its still Japanese. Volvo was sold to Ford, so it gives Ford rights to use Volvo's engines. Even though Volvo was made as a Swedish company; it was sold to Ford, so therefore making it an American company now. How is Ford ever European?
@KaguyaRyuuji o wow only the ttrs currentl has that engine, i was confused becuz the grumble sounds lyk a v8 but its a ff car so it culdnt hold an engine that big
@bfcricky sry to tell you but you paid a lot for nothing they might be all you say but they look like crap next time try to look beyond the horrible black shiny plastic
Damn, what a beautiful vehicle. I wish Ford would bring at least some of these to the US. It's no mystery why it sold out in within 12 hours in the UK.
LOL. RS500. FORD fucking throw away all those ST parts lying about and stop bringing new EDITIONS out of the same car. we all know theres gonna be a 4WD version with a new chassis, gearbox[ DSG TYPE ]. so please stop rapeing FORD lovers of there hard earned CASH. well atleast until the 4WD daddy arrives. then i,ll consider one. while these stay FWD i,ll always prefer RENAULTSPORTS because there the daddy,s at FWD.
@Mp5Speed because the american people arent really interested in this kind of car, only european people like hatchbacks like that, of course theres always some in usa that will like it, and theres gona be some imporst to there but if they sell it for america the sells would be total fail
@ariell92 The honda civic hatch has sold well in america since the 80s. I know i own one and i see them everywhere here in cali. The regular RS would sell extreamly well here. I wish Ford would grow a pair and bring it over. As to the limited edition RS500 i bet jay leno will have one.
@Mp5Speed Because unlike the people in Europe, not enough Americans give a fuck about hatchbacks. The states don't even have the 300HP FWD car.
It's just marketing. Every car manufacturer knows that Americans love two types of cars the most: the SUV (and any of its variants) and the sedan (saloon).
When it comes to car size, Americans prefer medium or large.
When it comes to engines, nothing smaller than a V6.
AWD is cool, but RWD is what the people want here.
@LostChildOfTime Why does the MazdaSpeed 3, VW GTi, and Subaru WRX and STi sell so well in the U.S. if we don't like hot hatchbacks? Oh yeah, then there's the Mini Cooper and Fiat bringing over the 500.
@JaySee5 I think it has a lot to do with the mustang. until recently the RS was more powerful then the 4.6L V8 Mustang, but more importantly I was based on the EURO Focus witch was not DOT approved so thats the real reason probably.
@LostChildOfTime as im reading your comment i laughing to myself because your absolutely right. I guess im one of those rare ones that would love this car.
fuck you ford..... dont you realize that you would sell thousands upon thousands of these if you brought them to the U.S. and Canada? even just the normal RS hell even just the normal focus... even that is a better car than half the ones you give us
you see it will probably be more expensive than a base Mustang, and the buyers are mostly unaware of the whole World Rally Car hot hatces and their insane handling. besides once they hear it's not a V8 car they simply won't be interested at all
@McLarenMercedes man thats soo true here in america you can make a bad ugly shit car but if it has a V8 in it and has low 1/4 times boom it sells like hot cakes dont matter if the car cant turn for shit or stops for that matter pisses me off man we will never get the good cars because of that
Sadly us Yanks will never get a chance to buy this car. Instead we are stuck with crappy Mustangs with live rear axle. Come on Ford, give us the good stuff they have in Europe.
You don't need AWD in a FWD car; I can guarantee there would not be a difference in performance if ford did install an AWD system; that's why they haven't.

@Reptar2 Pig-understeering AWD systems are getting outdate. It should have a torque vectoring one. But if they developped it just for this car, it would cost 100,000 bucks.
@Reptar2 why? the extra weight of the AWD sytem coupled with the greater percentage of power lost through the drivetrain will probably end up with it being slower than a regular RS
