  • george. c. scott is amazing

  • A very good flow. I wonder if the scene with the Uni president isn't flavouring. You know, the type of latitude given to one of the characters so as to slow the pace before the pay off.

Remember this scene serves to establish Father Dyer as cheering up Kinderman. Whereas the home scene establishes the same for Kinderman.

  • @thrillfiction I think Kinderman is too cheerful himself in these scenes, joking with his fellow officers and family. We never see him depressed. Also I wanted there to be more of a sober tone. The Uni President scene is too jokey ("May the Schwartz be with you"). I feel Dyer going from stopping by the steps to standing outside the cinema smoking, is more natural. You get the sense he is the one who really needs some cheering.

  • @Deavi783 I took Kinderman's attempt at humour as unknowingly embarrassing - like your uncle doing the okey cokey at a wedding. Remember he loved Karrass. I took the humour in his character to mask his rage and pain. He talks to his wife and his despondancy (in the above scene). We see his concern at the hospital - running to Dyer's room then walking in and immediately having a go.

So I didn't take it as cheerful. I saw it as a front - a stiff upper lip.
