I shall agree with u here.......the film was not that great to receive oscars. But I will say I dont care wat anupam said or wat other people said. The music was good, the story was fictional and mediocre, there were some life's realities shown but all in negative light (my personal view) and the title of the film could have been less provocative. Its not like english people were rich always. India was always rich till they came. No one should forget that even slumdogs shown were humans.

Oscar awards are given on the basis of some parameters which may not be the same as our awards. and the that we think are good enough may not be falling on those parameters. may be this movie falling on to their parameters.

i am sorry i have to disagree with you here. I think this movie does show something that will move people. It shows the real harsh conditions people in countries like out India have to go through every day. It will motivate people to go and actually do something for these slum people. Now, i am not sure or aware of any one actually going and helping people. But me personally, if I could, go and help these people. that is what this movie has shown. I agree. It was decent - the art direction was great, the music fantastic - but I expected more from such brilliant reviews. I can see what they were trying to achieve, and I don't think it was intentional to make most of the indian people in the film seem heartless. The theme of this film is rising against adversity, and to show this the main character is surrounded by horrible people. That would be the same wherever it was set, I don't think that's a direct attack on Indian people.

You are missing the point. Except for "maybe" the fact that Rahman and Gulzar are part of the project there is nothing "Indian" about Slumdog. It is an ENGLISH film made by an ENGLISH team. So why should YOU feel bad that it got so many awards? So some English movie got the Oscars for a movie that was 'based' on the Indian story. So what?
